There are a ton of people that don't care about controversy.

JEECE103d ago

Well, most of them probably don't know about it. But sometimes the grievances the "hardcore" have against a game can reverberate among casuals, even if they don't know why. Look at how badly Star Wars: Outlaws failed, despite the IP. I highly doubt that many of the casuals who skipped over it (who almost certainly would have bought a game like that in 2016 or so) had exactly the same reasons for doing so that people on here did, but clearly a lot of them were affected by the negative sentiments toward that game. Whether that will affect a more established franchise like AC may be a different question (yes Star Wars is a much bigger IP overall but Outlaws is not an established game franchise like AC).

anast103d ago

Good point. I agree. We see this with the "woke" tag among casuals and cores. Star wars fans might have a different culture than AC fans.

PoSTedUP103d ago

I agree if it came out in 2016 it would have sold more and did better, but that's when a lot of gamers, hardcore and casuals alike, weren't paying a lot of attention to politics and agendas. A lot more people, casuals in particular, have become more aware since then. There is a huge push back against a certain agenda nowadays and it show. As well as what you said about hardcore reverberating into casual market. This is a big reason why [insert many recent games here] didn't sell as well as their counterpart or predecessor; and why their user views are in the lower numbers. Imo

I am so far behind on my AC games. Last one I played was Origins. I do want to play Mirage because I heard it is shorter then previous games. But which game do you guys suggest I play if I had to pick between Odyssey and Valhalla?

LucasRuinedChildhood103d ago (Edited 103d ago )

The last AC game I played was AC4. lol. Odyssey definitely seems to be more liked and seen as more fun than Valhalla though. It got a 60fps update as well if you're playing on a PS5/Series X.

I have a friend who mostly plays RPGs and doesn't bother with AC in general but who really liked Odyssey and has encouraged me to play it.

The_Hooligan103d ago

I was just reading some articles about Odyssey and Valhalla and it was a general consensus that Odyssey was a better game and Kassandra was sort of like a cannon character. So, I will be playing Odyssey and skipping over Valhalla and then start Mirage. Appreciate your response.

anast103d ago

I prefer Valhalla, but Odyssey was cool too. They are almost the same, it comes down to would you rather be a Northman or a Spartan. Also, Mirage was also supposed to be a Valhalla DLC.

Ninver103d ago

Last one I played was AC2. The rest are quite mediocre imo.

anast103d ago

That was a good game for it's time. I'm not saying then others are better, but AC2 has aged.

PoSTedUP103d ago

I like rogue/black flag, but syndicate was good. That's the last one I played more than 30mins of.

-Foxtrot103d ago

Not like I’m bothered about the whole controversy that’s been going on but in regards to their comment, didn’t they say something similar about Outlaws?

anast103d ago

If it is. It's a wait for a deep sale just to see how it fits in the AC world.

Abear21103d ago

The game was delayed so chances are it’s going to slap, unlike most of the AAA titles launching in Beta these days. I’ll still wait tho, lol

Fonsecap103d ago

I don't doubt it, but there'll be a good bunch of refunds also after launch

Looks good, cant wait. Not sure why its getting so much hate.

Deeeeznuuuts3h ago

Looks okay, I'm hoping that the footage they've shown doesn't do it justice, very poor trailers in my opinion, I'll have to wait and see.

The creation suite looks pretty good though,do like a good editor in a game, the editors in Far Cry 2, 3, 4 and 5, Doom (2016), Infamous 2 etc. spend so many hours in them.

Do wish RPG Maker would actually make a completely new entry instead of the same game, rehashed, saying that, I do enjoy that too 😅

Looks good, but I am not sold yet.

EA Cancels Black Panther Game, Closes Cliffhanger Games

Electronic Arts is canceling its planned Black Panther game and shutting down developer Cliffhanger Studios, IGN has learned.

Fishy Fingers5h ago

S*** for those affected.

But 'Marvel' aint the easy win it was a few years ago, far from it. 2 years on with nothing but a 9 second logo teaser. I'm honestly not surprised.

DivineHand1255h ago(Edited 5h ago)

The industry is extremely volatile these days with layoffs happening every other day.

Fishy Fingers5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

That's a different game from a different studio. That's why its got a different name...

Oh the massive comment edit :(

DivineHand1255h ago

I realized after doing more research. Not even EA would be that crazy. Didn't realize anyone was replying.

Lightning775h ago

More big publishers cutting jobs BS. No more Black Panther I bet Ironman is next. All before SGF next week they better not show their faces. They're already the most hated publisher.

Just sell your IP and secure jobs for the rest of the devs within EA to other game companies. Also sell the rest of your assets and shut down. They can barely do anything right anymore.

Christopher5h ago

Another high profile IP that likely got ruined by too much management and not enough focus on just giving gamers what they want.

Profchaos3h ago

It could also be they realised public interest in Marvel properties has hit low. Compared to when they started development.

Prolonged Dev times meant to craze died before the game had a chance

The cost of licensing included in development costs which was clearly still years out meant that turning a profit was never going to happen.

Eonjay8m ago

Totally disagree with the so called Marvel fatigue. Rivals us doing great and there is no doubt to me that both Wolverine and even Blade will sell. Very well. I think Chris is more on point in reference to management and I do agree with your point about profits.

Relientk774h ago

EA continually proving how awful they are.
