At least we know what to expect with the PS6! /s

RaidenBlack110d ago

Will launch with Returnal and Rift Apart Remasters ...

_SilverHawk_110d ago (Edited 110d ago )

Nintendo switch 2 will be amazing with all original titles and no remaSters. I know everyone is looking forward to the switch 2 because gamers are just tired of playing better versions of older titles . Nintendo will teach sony how to make original titles and stop with rehaShes of games while having a powerful hardware that's affordable.

I remember playing days gone 6 years ago and I think it's an amazing game. Im not sure why anyone would want to play a way better version of an amazing game that was released on last gen console.

I_am_Batman110d ago

@Christopher: Why make a PS6 when they can remaster the PS5?

andy85110d ago

@silverhawk it's like you've not seen a switch. Most of their line-up is remakes, remasters and ports and with that Nintendo rehash the same 3 franchises the entire gen themselves? And charge nearly full price for the games several years later. The amount of exclusives for the switch is tiny and it's just about to have a successor. Can't really be putting Nintendo and original together these days

Cacabunga110d ago

I thought Sony hated this game that they want no sequel.. but why bring this everytime? Is this for Bend to get done funds after the cancelled gaas game???

badz149110d ago

@_SilverHawk_

are you trolling or just plain ignorant??

_SilverHawk_110d ago

I would have thought it's quite telling that everything i wrote previously was all sarcasm. If i say every generation since the ps1, nintendo has had the better controller over the playstation, people should know that is false. Playstation has had the better controller since day one over nintendo. I cant remember a time of having a nintendo console where i dont need to buy another controller that is better than what Nintendo shipped with the console.

There was an article written about how about 75 percent of switch games are all remakes from previous consoles or Nintendo game consoles. Nobody will be talking about that though because when it comes to Nintendo it's treated differently. I still can remember reviewers going on and on about a few frame drops on playstation or xbox games which causes games to get lower scores but with Nintendo games it could run at 20 frames per second majority of the time without reviewers talking about it. I've seen people reviewing the consoles themselves and reviewing the switch with higher ratings than the playstation and xbox even though a lot of switch games have performance issues and the online is abysmal. Nintendo will have a lot of remakes on switch 2 just like they always do and those games will be expensive and it'll go mostly ignored but if sony decides to remaster 7year old games or older then a lot of people will be pointing it out as a negative.

VariantAEC109d ago

How about "RemakeStation"
Or "RemasterAtion"
Fixed? You tell me.

Cacabunga105d ago

After platinuming the game, I still believe they are making the same mistake when they first revealed the game.
The game IS NOT ABOUT HORDES. It is a post apocalyptic adventure where each his own. Hordes are only a minor part of the game.

I didn’t buy it in the beginning because it felt like it was a 3D dead nation game only about zombies and killing groups of enemies.

It is the last of us meets RDR in a way.

phatak110d ago (Edited 110d ago )

its not even so much about a remaster, the bigger story is sony seems to have some faith in this franchise atleast and they not ignoring it like its their stepchild lol the way they did order 1886 or the way warner bros treated batman arkham origins, so days gone 2 seems likely as only their big franchises are getting the remaster treatment such as horizon, last of us,uncharted and spiderman . Go and support this remaster folks , sony is throwing this out as a test basis as to whether to give a go ahead for days gone 2. This franchise deserves a second chance more so than any of the other sony franchises.

andy85110d ago

Literally this. I expected it to be confined to history like the order 1886. Shows they're still bothered by it and hopefully some amends are made in future

badz149110d ago

let's hope it's the breath of fresh air the game needs and we finally will get a sequel and NOT something false hope like Dead Space - a remake/remaster and then shut down forever because of not enough sales.

Bagr110d ago

Day 1 for me.
Love days gone

CrimsonIdol110d ago

Love this constant remastering of games that are only a few years old and still look perfectly passable by modern standards while all the remasters of classic games people actually want stay totally neglected.

Christopher110d ago

The plethora of Sony PS3 games alone that could be remastered and supported outside of the PS3 hardware... Just start from the beginning of that generation and work your way forward.

blackblades110d ago

But this is a 5 year old game and with new content for $10 if you already have

ActualWhiteMan110d ago (Edited 109d ago )

These are easy and basically free money. Really shows that they only care about quick profits.

zaanan109d ago

This.
Sony is remastering a game they themselves did not even support, and leaving classics like Resistance languishing in streaming limbo!

Find it ridiculous they would remaster a game whose sequel they didn't greenlight.

Wanted God of war collection announcement

Wanted infamous collection

Wanted killzone collection

I am not against DG remastered since this could lead to a sequel being developed since bend had their last project cancelled

Knushwood Butt110d ago

I can't wait for Onimusha 2 remastered and Metal Gear Solid 3 Remastered, both in show.
I hope they are free!

Jingsing110d ago

Honestly I think the remasters are just a way to get their games ready for PC ports but the strategy is sell them to PS5 owners first to make maximum bank. It is why I've stopped buying PS5 games altogether.

cthulhucultist110d ago (Edited 110d ago )

@Andy85 Ok this is highly innacurate.

Switch has far more than 3 franchises (splatoon, pipkmin, kirby, mario, zelda, starfox, f-zero, luigi's mansion, donkey kong, metroid, xenoblades etc)

Switch throughout this generation has released at least 10 original games (Arms, Snipperclips, Mario kart live circuit, F-Zero 99, Princess Peach showtime, Nintendo labo, Mario Rabbids, Astral Chain, 1-2 Switch, Sushi striker ,game builder garage)

Over 30 more games were released exclusively for Switch that are not ports, remakes or remasters

Mario Odyssey
Zelda TOTKZelda BOTW
Famicon detective emio
Shin megami tensei V
Luigis Mansion 3
Brain training
Switch SportsMario Tennis
Kirby retun to dreamland
Xenoblades 2 +3
Mario strikers
Bayonetta 3
Pokemon sword and shield Pokemon legend of arceus
Detective pikachu 2
Pimpkin 4
Metroid dread
Metroid prime 4 (TBR)
echoesZelda echoes of wisdom
Mario and luigi brothership
Super mario party jamboree
Super Mario maker 2
Splattoon 3
Warioware move it
Kirby's dream buffet
Fire emblem warriors
Fire emblem three houses
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Yoshi crafted world
Everybody 1-2 switch
Mario Rabbids sparks of hope
Marvel ultimate alliance 3
Fast RMX

They are a greedy company charging 60 for 3ds remakes for sure, but you can not question the output of Switch library

rippermcrip109d ago

In response to your below comment. It is much easier for them to remaster PS4 games vs PS3 which is why you are seeing them redo those for just $10 upgrades.

Christopher109d ago (Edited 109d ago )

Totally understand, but the problem is people can still play PS4 games on both PS4 and PS5. They can't play PS3 games anywhere but on PS3 or with really unappealing and shit streaming, and even then it's not all of them and changes every 3 months or so. It might cost more, but guarantee they'll see more purchases from them and people will praise them for getting more of the older games into forward compatible territory.

Knushwood Butt109d ago (Edited 109d ago )

^
The streaming is pretty good for me.
The fact that you don't have to make space on your storage in order to just fire up a game on a whim is also quite appealing.

Just curious, but did you play Days Gone?

peppeaccardo110d ago

This was one of the best gaming experiences for me of the last decade ... amazing game, story, palyability and immersion. I will replay the remaster to enjoy this gem again.

Muigi109d ago

I got a plat in this game but the story was far from amazing imo. The main character was annoying af.

BlackCountryBob110d ago

It wasn’t a game I enjoyed or stuck with but I do agree given Sony Bend live service game being scrapped is this is a test of the market to see if there is more interest in the game now than there was in 2018.

What’s odd I feel is that most of Sonys previous remasters were linked to getting them updated and modernised for a PC release so it made sense to update the console version at the same time (Uncharted, TLOU, Spider-Man, Until Dawn, Ghosts of Tsushima, Death Stranding). So Days Gone is, as with Horizon, odd in that they are already PC released so there was minimal demand for a remaster when compared to some other games stuck on PS2/PS3/PS4 era hardware that could be given a new lease of life.

lukasmain110d ago

Please god I want this so much. Days Gone sequel

The_Hooligan109d ago (Edited 109d ago )

This!
Such an underrated game. Yes, it starts slow but once it picks up it does not let up.

Grilla109d ago

They should have had a horde fight earlier in the game. It’s the best part of the game but you gotta play for a bit to see it.

I'm selling....it'll all come to PC anyways and nothing truly special in the foreseeable future.

Relientk77110d ago

Another unnecessary last gen remaster. If you are going to remaster something, how about a game from the PS1 and PS2 era? You know, a game that could actually benefit from it.

darthv72110d ago

or.... PS3, there are plenty of games much more deserving.

-Foxtrot110d ago

*cough cough* Puppeteer *cough*

BABI-PANGPANG110d ago

Would love to play through the first three Uncharted games again with modern graphics and better movement. Heck, even bringing back the multiplayer from U2 would make the remaster sell like hotcakes.

LoveSpuds110d ago

@Foxtrot
Agreed, what a belter of a game although, I would be gutted to see the value of my PS3 copy plunge if Puppeteer got remastered.

What completely brilliant game though, shame to see it trapped on PS3 really.

LOOK_AT_THIS_I109d ago

For real. Been begging for a Socom for years. I’d settle for even the single player portion of the older games at this point if it would at least be offered.

Socom, Warhawk, Resistance, Infamous, Motorstorm I mean there is a boatload of games they could revive that have been asked for by most ps fans and they keep doing the same games.

Most of remakes they keep doing have a current gen game that people could play if they wanted to. I want games that we can’t play. Give me Socom or give me death.

The Days Gone Remaster Is an Unsurprising Cash-Grab and Nothing More

Honestly, who is the Days Gone remaster for? Fans of the original won't find anything new here.

Christopher19d ago

I don't know why you're being downvoted. It is a new thing in the remaster. Perhaps it's not worth the $10 upgrade if you've played. But, I mean, if you never played the game, then just wait for it to go on sale, forget about it, and continue not playing it like you did for the last 6 years?

TheEroica19d ago

The downvotes are likely from the excuses... Horde mode doesn't obsolve Sony from cash grabbing its easily duped fanbase.

S2Killinit19d ago

I love how people call this a money grab while the real money grabbing is in other genres. But, I think people who are that dumb deserve to be fed with skins and micro-transactions, and don’t get to complain that single player games of this caliber are few and far in between.

IAMRealHooman19d ago

@TheEroica
they changed the header. it was originally the " Remaster has nothing new" or something similar.

princejb13419d ago

Days gone is amazing regardless and for those that didn’t play the original I highly recommend.

SimpleSlave19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

Yes. All of Sony's Remasters - all the ones stemming from the PS4 library - are cash-grabs. When all they needed to do was patch them to run at 60fps, up the resolution, and be done with it. But then they had to actually care about Bloodborne, and that's a cardinal sin over at Sony.

On a side note. I just got The Sinking City Remastered for free, because I owned the game. Weird...

anast19d ago

The Bloodborne thing is a real issue.

SimpleSlave19d ago

I'm sure they banish people to the Nightmare Frontier if they as much as whisper the name in the office.

Bebedora19d ago

Cash-grab or not. As long the Bend Studio gets their share, I am for it. I don't know, but I still hope for making of a second title. However, in a way It's a cash-grab. They still put something extra to it (horde mode), that is.

anast19d ago

lol Yeah they seem to hate the idea of a new Bloodborne anything.

I've still got to play the shrinking city. I enjoy Lovecraftian stuff.

RaidenBlack19d ago

Hope the recent remasters like Sinking City and Oblivion, ups the ante and alters the industry's approach.
But what fans really want is just a straight up sequel ... oh and add sequel to 1886 as well.

GhostScholar19d ago

I would love a days gone sequel. Days gone to me is such a better game than the last of us. The world in days gone was so great.

19d ago
mkis00719d ago (Edited 19d ago )

To me they appeal to different players outside of just being zombie games. I like them both, but days gone is more fun to me. The last of us 2 is my murder game though along with red dead 2 and gta 5. Love the realistic violence.

jznrpg19d ago

I’m a big fan of Days Gone but TLOU is a better made game. How much you enjoyed each game is of course up to you.

neutralgamer199219d ago

With the recent cancellation of Bend Studio’s live-service project, there’s now a real and exciting opportunity for the studio to revisit Days Gone 2. This might be the perfect time for Sony to greenlight the sequel—especially with the PS6 likely on the horizon—because Days Gone already has a strong foundation, a passionate fanbase, and significant untapped potential.

It’s worth remembering that Days Gone was Bend Studio’s first major AAA title developed for a home console. Before that, the studio had primarily worked on portable systems like the PSP and PS Vita, or acted as a support studio. That leap to a full-scale open-world console game was ambitious, and although the game launched in a somewhat rough state, that context is crucial to understanding its initial reception.

Gaming critics were often harsh in their reviews, frequently comparing Days Gone to other PlayStation exclusives that came from more seasoned console studios like Naughty Dog or Santa Monica Studio. Despite these comparisons and the early technical issues, Days Gone still went on to sell over 7.6 million copies—a remarkable achievement for a new IP. Even more importantly, Bend Studio listened to fan feedback and steadily improved the game through patches, updates, and optimizations. Today, Days Gone stands as a much more polished and enjoyable experience than it was at launch.

That kind of growth shows Bend Studio’s resilience and potential. A sequel would not only benefit from their hard-earned experience, but also avoid many of the pitfalls that affected the original’s development. Much of the foundational tech, gameplay systems, and world-building has already been done, meaning the studio can focus more on innovation and storytelling rather than reinventing the wheel.

Compared to the high-risk, long-development timeline of a new IP—which could take 5+ years just to get through pre-production—returning to Days Gone is both a smarter and more efficient route. If Sony and Bend Studio commit to Days Gone 2 now, there’s a strong possibility it could be a key PS6 launch title—offering a fan-driven, proven IP with greater polish, depth, and scope.

Let’s not forget Bend Studio’s deep legacy either. This is the same team that brought us Syphon Filter, a series that helped define early PlayStation experiences. With the right support and direction, they can absolutely deliver a worthy sequel that lives up to the franchise’s potential and the studio’s legacy

Days Gone PS5 Is a 'Really Good Piece of Work', Say Tech Experts

Sammy writes: "Back when Days Gone Remastered was announced, many fans were squinting to see the differences between the excellent original PS4 version and its PS5 re-release.

But now with the game readily available – and our 8/10 review declaring it the “definitive version of a fan favourite” – we’re beginning to get some meaningful tech analysis.

And according to Digital Foundry, this is not just the bare-bones resolution upscale some had anticipated – “a lot of effort has gone into it”, according to the tech experts. "

First game sell well enough to warrant a sequel? Our received well enough?

Alos8833d ago

It sold well but reviewed only okay, which apparently wasn't enough for Sony.

Cacabunga33d ago

Sold well and received even better.. had a bad first month due to technical issues but ended up being one of the best games from last gen

Knightofelemia33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

That's the nature of the beast. If a game like a movie does not meet certain numbers then they write off the franchise. EA scrapped DS2 because the DS1 remake did not meet certain numbers. I was hoping the remaster of DG and the fact it also came to PC would convince Sony to green light a DG sequel.

PanicMechanic33d ago

Critic reviews were appalling. The worst reviewed game I’ve ever seen. By that I mean, poor quality journalism, dishonest writing and review scores which are out of touch with fan reception.

Knushwood Butt38d ago

How can Sony milk customers if it's such a 'dumb product'? If it's so dumb, nobody will buy it, and there's no milking.

I so hope this game or DLC for those of us who own the original sells well.
Ive said it before, its an underrated game for sure & was unfairly judged upon release.
Please try this game if you haven't already.

For those who say 'i won't purchase digital only' you can pickup a hard copy for 5 bucks here in Australia, then add the DLC and you have a superb game for $20 or so.

Give it a shot, tell me I'm wrong After completing the game.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH38d ago

It was full of bugs at release I wouldn’t call that being unfairly judged. If you want your game to score well then release it in a completed state. Now with that being said I think the game was pretty good.
