Report: Avalanche Working on Hogwarts Legacy DLC, Sequel; "Refreshed Version" on the Way

A new report claims that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is now in active development, with DLC planned for Hogwarts Legacy.

porkChop125d ago

Isn't it a bit late for DLC? Unless you're doing an expansion you really want that DLC launching in year 1.

Christopher125d ago

Might be more of an expansion to keep players into it and market the sequel with it (cliffhangers!).

porkChop125d ago

Hopefully. A big expansion could be really interesting. I'd go back for that, but probably not if it's just a couple missions or something.

senorfartcushion125d ago

It might be something that sets up Quidditch for the sequel as the Quidditch Live Service game has reportadly bombed in sales.

I. E. They're doing what they should have the first time.

porkChop125d ago

Not having quidditch was so bizarre. The game has such incredible atmosphere and it's got that almost childhood-like fantastical feeling. It was just begging for mini games like quidditch to flesh it out a little more. Really great foundation for a sequel though.

thorstein125d ago (Edited 125d ago )

This is how DLC used to be and how it should be. DLC should happen for successful games, not a "roadmap for what was left out at launch."

A game should be complete and then DLC/ expansions should be added later.

Think Shadow of the Erdtree DLC vs Civ VII planned paid DLC. CIV VII DLC should just have been part of the game.

porkChop124d ago

Shadow of the Erdtree isn't DLC though. That's a full blown expansion. DLC is smaller scale, like a couple new quests, or a bundle of skins, etc.

thorstein124d ago

DLC means DownLoadable Content.

Expansions are DLC.

DLC is the umbrella term for all downloadable content like you mentioned and expansions.

Next step...windows in the castle that are see through.

CRASHBASHUK125d ago

well there might be a state of play this week so soon see

Relientk77125d ago

I would love a Hogwarts Legacy 2 if it's a great single player game and fun like the first. No GaaS, we'll see.

Toecutter00125d ago (Edited 125d ago )

So what they mean is its really a remaster of game barely a year old, but they know that term is poison right now with gamers. Instead, it's a refresh.

Hogwarts Legacy Nintendo Switch 2 Rivals PS4 Pro Performance, But Series S Maintains Visual Edge

I mean, did anyone think the Switch 2 would be comparable to current-gen? Yea, I’m pretty sure it’s going to give you PS4 quality looking/playing games and in a couple years we’ll be onto PS6 and most third-party games will either be downgraded to hell or just not be available on Switch 2 🤷‍♂️.

Profchaos3d ago

I was never under any illusion it would compare to series s imagine the battery life

ABizzel13d ago (Edited 3d ago )

It’s doing exactly what I expected and what it needed to do base Xbox One settings in most games upscaled to 2x the resolution with DLSS when docked, and running with better performance. What more can you ask for out of a 10w - ~57w~ platform

Current-gen AAA Games (SX/PS5): 540p @ 30-40fps most games upscaled to 1080p @ 30-40fps
Last-gen AAA Games (XBO/PS4): 720p @ 30-60fps most games upscaled to 1440p @ 30-60fps
PS360/Switch AAA Games: 1080p @ 30-60fps most games upscaled to 1440p-4K @ 30-60fps
Rare cases the PS360/Switch games at 1080p@120fps games like Metroid

And that’s perfectly fine, except docked mode on AAA games could become fairly blurry on large 4K displays.

Babadook73d ago

Sorry, I disagree with this sentiment. The Switch 2 is a current gen machine and well above the PS4 Pro. It goes toe to toe with the Series S due to great DLSS and a modern architecture in many games. This game (Hogwarts Legacy) has always been the poorest example of what the Switch 2 can do and appears to simply be a bad port. Cyberpunk 2077 is on the other hand a great port.

for a handheld it's quite nice, but don't go in expecting a serious console. Keep your PS5 and/or PC. You can tell a huge difference in those long distance shots w the foilage/grass. But again on an 8 inch screen, I bet it looks and plays decent enough.

Neonridr3d ago

the way I look at it, the PS4 Pro still had some gorgeous games. If I could have games that looked like TLOU2 on the system, would I really care about what it would look like on a PS5? No.

OtterX3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Only on my 55" 4k do I care for that extra oomph. I would be blown away to have a game on par graphically w the PS4 Pro version of TLOU II on a handheld!

Grilla3d ago

Graphics are irrelevant if it’s not running at 60fps

anast3d ago

Switch 2 is around $450 to $700 depending on the country. Let that sink in. Get that nice '280p' Cyberpunk...

They are comparing the S to the PS4. HA!

Couldn't go 2 sentences without bringing up JK Rowling's viewpoints (which are now acknowledged and supported by the UK Supreme Court). Time for all the "progressive" whiners to latch back on to reality.
