Nintendo president addresses what to expect from the price of Switch 2 and confirms Switch 1 price cost will stay the same.
"The Milano-based (Italy) indie games developer 3DClouds are today very proid and excited to announce that their pirate-themed action/third-person adventure "Trident's Tale", is now available for PC (via Steam) and consoles (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch) via digital stores." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
The PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console worldwide with 671,845 units sold for April 2025, according to VGChartz estimates. The PlayStation 5 has now sold an estimated 75.58 million units lifetime worldwide.
The Nintendo Switch sold an estimated 350,417 units to bring its lifetime sales to 150.36 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 205,866 units to bring their lifetime sales to 32.98 million units.
"XS Sales Down Just 2% YoY".... they are turning it around boys... hold the line!!!!
/s
down 2% from an already low number is still bad. and if we look a little closer, 140K of those sales were from US alone, meaning that a meager 65K sold to the rest of the global market. outside of the US, xbox is a dead brand. and it is holding on by a string in its strongest territory. this is why MS had to go multiplatform. low xboxes sales means fewer gamepass subscriptions, which means you can't afford to put hundred million dollar budget games on the service anymore.
For the Switch to be down 37% with the same price shows that nearly everyone is just waiting on the Switch 2.
I gotta say I didn't expect PS5 sales to be down only 14% year-on-year, thought the decline would be higher.
Interesting:
PS5 being down 382k units compared to PS4's April in 2018 is probably the result of the God of War reboot release in April 2018.
It was even the later half of April, the 20th.
Great exclusives can have a pretty strong impact on hardware sales I guess.
In Nintendo’s Ask the Developer, the team shares the biggest changes coming to Mario Kart World on Nintendo Switch 2. We break it all down.
I'd like to know how it supposedly took 8 years to make this when the open free roaming mode looks so empty, unless they're purposely not showing where the content/missions are..
Really how is driving around empty land going to be exciting? I find that so boring, I get some may like it but.. if there's hardly anything to do then why bother.
To put it in perspective the Wii U never received a discount even after the switch released it just rotted and remaining inventory was either sent back or sold by retailers for a conderable loss.
So don't think the switch 2 will be insanely expensive because the switch isn't dropping in price this seems like history repeating itself
Keeping Switch 1 price the same is pure greed, but they are also doing it to cover their bases if the Switch 2 flops.
Uh, if Switch isn't getting a price drop Switch 2 will be a minimum of $449. They need to have 3SKUS one dockable one not, and one that's TV only
Nintendo is killing
So thats confirming it to cost more than the original now it just how much. Surely it can't be the same as Ps5?
