Interesting.

I can´t wait to see how well it gonna sell on Xbox without Game Pass.

Redemption-64106d ago

Am guessing MLB did not get the results they wanted and would now rather sell the game rather than put it on GP

crazyCoconuts106d ago

I'm sure MS paid big bucks to put MLB on GP in the past. I'd guess they're not willing to pay as much now that they've filled out the roster with first party games.

Redemption-64106d ago

@crazyCoconuts

Can't say how much MS might have been paying, but if they are not willing to pay, it shows they didn't get the results they wanted. i.e increased subscribers. Or MLB is asking for more money because what they are also not seeing the results they want.

Honestly I can see Sony laughing about this, as they didn't want to bring MLB to Xbox and with this move, I am expecting low sales and even lower player numbers on Xbox

"Honestly I can see Sony laughing about this, as they didn't want to bring MLB to Xbox and with this move, I am expecting low sales and even lower player numbers on Xbox"

I don´t think Sony finds itself in a position to be laughing at anything when comes to live service games, dude.

San Diego is currently the only Playstation first party studio developing games to Xbox and funnily enough is the only studio that didn´t faced layoffs or budget cuts.

Another interesting fact is that Sony/MLB ditched the PS4 and it´s entire player base which according to Sony themselves is half the whole Playstation player base to favor both Xbox and the Switch with MLB The Show 25.

Like crazyCoconuts said, MS has tons of first party games now and might not be willing to pay for MLB to be on Gamepass, and yet Sony and MLB decided and ported their game to Xbox anyway.

If both Sony and MLB decided to keep it multiplatform it´s because it´s paying off for them. Nothing more, nothing less.

SeTTriP105d ago

Am guessing your spot on.

Actually they can, and better yet they should be celebrating, especially if and when they get the biggest Xbox games such as Halo/Gears. PS could easily win this gen by keeping their games from Xbox while gaining theirs. And they can laugh even more when devs, including MS staring preferring their platform when more and more multi-platform games, including Xbox 1st party games start sell more on Playstation than Xbox.

Seriously, I love just how gullible and ignorant you are, we need more 🤡 like you to keep us all entertained. Also can you tell us all how many People has Microsoft laid off again? Care to guess who laid off more people? MS or Sony? Am sure you will love that answer. Layoffs are happening across the industry due to greed. MS could make 10s of billions a year in pure profits and still layoff thousands because they didn't grow X amount.

Also, MLB went multi-platform because those who own the license wanted it to. If it was up to Sony they would keep that game off Xbox

Dude. Noone is gonna bring any games to xbox in the future. And gamepass is gonna fail spectacularly within the next few years. Xbox as a publisher will stay and thats it. They are gonna be fine but noone will care about gamepass or xbox hardware

Obscure_Observer105d ago

"Dude. Noone is gonna bring any games to xbox in the future. And gamepass is gonna fail spectacularly within the next few years."

Been hearing the same nonsense for eight years and all I see is Gamepass getting stronger and stronger.

We just got freaking Ninja Gaiden 2 Black shadow dropped!

This year we´ll be getting Fable, South of Midnight, Doom TDA, Avowed, Towerborne, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Replaced, Hollow Knight: Silksong, The Outer Worlds 2, Atomfall, Mixtape, The Alters... all off the top of my head. All DAY ONE!

Xbox and PC gamers are in for another stellar year with Game Pass. It´s nothing but a fact.

StoneTitan105d ago

It shadowdeopped on everything. Lol!
Watch numbers going down for the next years and less and less "shadowdeops and day ones"
Every Publisher already know gamepass is making them loose money. Its over dude

The Wood106d ago

........and this is a prime example of why xbox sales on multiplats are globally dwarfed by sony. A large number of the fanbase have succumb to the gamespass effect. (If it ain't on GP I ain't buying it) If you think that logic enamours 3rd party dev, especially triple A game devs, you clearly aren't reading the room. There just arent enough concurrent active gp subs to service all the upper tier games

Phat

It affects us as gamers too. We can't be so naive to think otherwise

Bathyj106d ago

And that's why you don't have nice things.

Redemption-64106d ago

And this is a reason MS is looking to go multi-platform. Imagine a world where halo/gears could release on all platforms and end up selling the most on Playstation?

dveio106d ago (Edited 106d ago )

Quite interesting.

MLB is a fairly popular game now skipping Gamepass.

Rather than speculating, I just wished we would be officially served the reasoning behind it.

2025/2026 are going to be very interesting years to lean back, enjoy the games and watch the industry very likely to re-shape here & there.

rippermcrip105d ago

To me it was obvious that the main reason Microsoft put it on GP was as a big F U to Sony. "Long time PlayStation exclusive now on Xbox and on GamePass".

StoneTitan105d ago

Reasoning: MS did not give us enough money.

P_Bomb106d ago

Get some sales up front when it’s fresh, release it on Game Pass months later so you can still cash in on the mtx. Best of both worlds?

jznrpg106d ago (Edited 106d ago )

Except games aren’t selling very much on Xbox. They make the game yearly as well and if they do put it on sub service it won’t be long before the new one comes out

PS5 Best-Seller in the US in March, Assassin's Creed Shadows Debuts in 1st

The PlayStation 5 was once again the best-selling console in the US in March 2025 in terms of units sold and dollar sales, according to figures from Circana (formerly The NPD Group). Circana includes the dates for the five-week period of March 2 to April 5.

Not surprised by PS5 dominance. It will be interesting to see if sales for ACS drop off the cliff or gradually slide down. UBI would want a gradual slide over many months while staying in top 10 for next 3-6 months.

S2Killinit19d ago

Assassins Shadows is a success whether some people like it or not. They did try their hardest. But in the end facts are facts (not that those matter to some these days). Im just enjoying the crow eating at this point.

neutralgamer199219d ago

It’s not that we want games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows to fail—most of us love gaming and want to see great titles succeed. But when big publishers consistently make anti-consumer decisions, it's important for the community to speak up. If we don't push back, we risk normalizing practices that hurt us as players in the long run.

A lot of people point to the hype around upcoming releases like the Switch 2 and say, “Where’s all the negativity now? It’s already sold out.” But launch-day sellouts don’t tell the whole story. Historically, every new console sells well at launch. The real question is how it performs over time, especially if concerning trends continue.

Look at what Nintendo is doing: they’re charging $90 for a remaster bundled with DLC—content that many would expect to be priced far lower. Meanwhile, Xbox just released Oblivion, nearly remade and packed with all its DLC, for $50. That’s almost half the price for significantly more value. So should we just sit back and accept Nintendo charging almost double, or is it fair to question this pricing strategy?

It’s not just one game—it’s a pattern. Nintendo has been making several anti-consumer moves: physical editions costing more than digital, while also raising the price of digital games. And this isn't happening in isolation. For years, the standard price for a new game was $60. That held steady for over 15 years. Then it jumped to $70. Now, just four years later, we’re seeing $80–$90 price tags depending on the edition, platform, and whether it’s digital or physical.

These things add up. The industry is slowly training consumers to accept higher prices and fewer benefits, and when we don't speak out, we're essentially giving them permission to continue. This isn’t about hating companies or wanting products to fail—it’s about holding the industry accountable so it stays healthy, fair, and respectful of its audience.

We all want to enjoy great games, but we should also care about how they’re made, priced, and delivered. If we don’t ask questions now, we might not like the answers the industry gives us later

"Digital SKUs for March accounted for 70 percent of Xbox Series X|S sales and 50 percent of PlayStation 5 sales. Digital SKUs year-to-date have accounted for 75 percent of Xbox Series X|S sales and 50 percent of PlayStation 5 sales."

Okay this is interesting.

yenevar19d ago

I see a lot of people talking about the 50% digital rate on PS5 but, that needs to be subtracted by the number of disc drives they sell. Also the fact that 15-20 percent of all PS5's are Pro's which are digital only by default so that 50% is heavily skewed.

In truth the vast majority of PS5's have a disc drive attached to them.

It's similar to the discussion about digital sales, where when you look at the total digital on PS5 seems high because so many games release digital only, but when you look at games that have physical releases the split on those games is still 50-60+ percent physical.

The majority of PlayStation owners still want physical games.

Lexreborn219d ago

50% of a game that sells 2 million is still more then 75% that sell 1million. So, it really doesn’t mean much if you don’t know the approximate numbers

yenevar19d ago

Lexreborn2

What is even the point you're trying to make?

Factually as we have seen reported by Sony and other publishers that games that have disc versions still sell 50-60 percent of the total copies physically on PlayStation, the number of total units sold is irrelevant when talking about the percent of individual products.

Kassanova0719d ago

That site is so broken still after all these years.

dmonee18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

I wonder if oblivion remastered numbers for april will trounce the sales numbers of assassins creed origins? Hopefully it shows developers what gamers really want in a game. They don’t have to be perfect. They just need to have an identity or a soul. Easiest way to put it, is they need to be fun and entertaining. If it means remastering a 20 year old game to prove that, then so be it

MLB The Show 25 Review: The Pinnacle Of The Series | Forbes

Forbes says: "While there are still a few elements that I’d like to see added, I feel comfortable saying this isn’t just the best version in the series—MLB The Show 25 is the best baseball video game ever made."

Old_Scout43d ago

Same game it's been for the last 12 years. Whittled down other online aspects in favor of DD, we'll likely never see online franchise because it doesn't sell stubs. The AI still makes absolutely goofy decisions both in game and with trades. They've dumbed down contracts, have not fixed the lackadaisical fielding animations. At least your RTTS player can be god-tier again and hair physics is improved.

Same player models from 2009, lighting system that's over 20 years old, texture from ps3 era.
