Dark Souls transformed the action game genre and it's never been the same since, but it's time for 'pure' action games to take centre stage once again.
I guess the journalist isn't aware of the some what recent bayonetta 3 or DMCV? Even the DmC reboot and metal gear rising came out after dark souls.
Lost Soul Aside is also this year as well...
Most action/ action adventure games that coming out now are in someways sort of souls like. The game you listed are also not recent. DMCV is from 2019 and Bayonetta 3 from 2022
The article claims pure action games haven't taken centre stage since dark souls and i disagree listing some games i think have since then. Add Bayo 2 to that list as well.
I never said there are the same amount or more pure action games than souls like.
DMC5 looks and play like a colonoscopy simulator, Bayo3 looks worse than Bayo1. They were stagnating the genre.
Most action games that release have adapted the souls formula. I cant tell you how many times I see a game that catches my interest with a character and a giant sword, only to see that its a souls like. Heck, even team ninja themselves were making soulslike games for almost a decade now.
It weirds me out because Ninja Gaiden is nothing like Souls.
It’s harder and it’s not like Souls is the only hard game out there.
Ninja Gaiden is the perfect antidote to an industry that needs to return to the glory days.
I absolutely love this game and it really brought me back to the good ol’ days of gaming. Nobody b*tching about designs or politics, just straight forward, ninja reflex gameplay, and balls of steel action.
we've had plenty of aftion titles that qerent ninja gaiden tho.

There's only need for an antidote when there is a sickness. Roughly 60 souls-likes out of the thousands of games that have been released over the last 10 years. This isn't even close to a pandemic. People keep straw manning this souls-like stuff.

i immediately knew it was Ninja Vaiden and i think PlatinumGames is and was the only true choice for the game.

Okay this actually looks great, I thought the series was dead after the woeful 3rd game.

Day 1. I am starved for a dmc or bayonetta type game.
And while the graphics are dissapointing i just realized that with platinum developing it and their switch development experience that these graphics are to accommodate a 60fps switch 2 version at launch.
This looks great. Hopefully it's more in line with NG black than NG3
