Assassin's Creed Shadows: The Final Preview - IGN

In many ways, Assassin's Creed Shadows has been a long time coming. The setting of feudal era Japan has been one of the dream locales that fans and even Ubisoft developers have had for the franchise's jaunt through humanity's secret history, and it's finally serving as the backdrop for the next entry. But Shadows has also been a game that has seen some notable delays to ensure the developers stick the landing. Simply put, there's a lot of anticipation for what's in store for Ubisoft's big return to a massive Assassin's Creed RPG.

Not arguing or anything, I was sold when they first announced it, but out of curiosity what makes it look better now compared to then?

I thought the original trailers were in just 30fps?

Watching this now and... it looks like a new AC to me. I really enjoyed Mirage, and I enjoy the decapitations they've got in this preview. Heck, if combat is visceral as Yasuke, the stealth is balanced right, and it launches as a stable game, I might actually get this sooner than later.

The combat is much improved and the animations look much more smooth.

Compared to the initial build vs the new build they've been showing since December?
The combat feels more connected compared to past RPG-ACs.
Naoe in particular looks much better in terms of parkour and swift movement (what I expect from a Ninja assassin)
And from previews? The shadow mechanic, season and weather having much more impact (like ponds which can be exploited in summer, will freeze in winter), exploration is less tedious and much more rewarding etc etc....
And I am not a big fan of the RPG-fied modern ACs. I like the structure of the OG ACs.
RPG ACs were fine, but I consider those more like big open world big RPG games than smaller AC games.
Shadows seems abit better than something like Odyssey, now. ~ talking purely from gameplay and not the other stuffs. But post-release I'll get to be sure.

Quietly confident about this tbh. The delay seems to have helped a lot. But it's ubisoft, gonna have to rein it in a bit

Yasuke gameplay looks awful. Big and burly, crash and bash doesn't work well with this combat system or in Assassin's Creed. He can't even climb very well. I'm not feeling the "swap between 2 people" thing in this game.

I guess it is to be seen when it comes out. Since Origin AC was leaning alot towards brute force game play. Some people liked that. If I end up never playing Yasuke because the girls game play fits me more, I would be okay with it. Kinda the same as other games featuring various weapon types ... in the end I use what I like and never switch afterwards.

I used to have the thought “it’ll be better and feel new this time” with Ubisoft. Its been a while since that occurred

I'm optimistic about this one. I'm very fond of the new stealth mechanics shown here. I really want to like this one, and I hope that Ubisoft have learnt from previous mishaps. But who knows.
It's going to have a though time even if it's good or not anyway. The YouTube 'gamers' that earn a living by creating negative videos on popular narratives will continue to attack Shadows for all it's worth as it's made by Ubisoft.
