Do we really need another piece on this? I'm calling this dead horse topic.

Cacabunga101d ago

Yes we do.. Sony’s management decisions is killing the brand at low fire.

staticall100d ago

@Cacabunga
Agree, as soon as Sony moved to Cali, it's been bad decision after bad decision so far. And keep pushing for live service is just dumb at this point, like they're being stubborn about the wrong thing.

I hope they'll get back to PS3 times - more games overall and more new franchises.

Redemption-64100d ago

@staticall

If Sony didn't move to Cali, they would be dead. You must have not been around when PS3 was released and Sony literally had to restructure, the move to Cali is what contributed to them growing more and kept breaking records. You might like facts, but that decision is why they are around and why they will never move back, well unless they want to make less money than are currently

staticall100d ago

@Redemption-64
I call BS. Move to California happened after PS4, near PS5 release date. And i was around when they released PS3, i own one.
So somehow, Sony was doing just fine for all the PS3 generation and more than half of PS4 generation and then, suddenly, they had to move to San Francisco to keep afloat and start acting weird, huh? Do you even hear yourself?!
The whole censorship angle, weird acquisitions like Bungie, idiocy with pushing everyone to live service, sucking in first party department - its all happened after moving HQ to Califorrnia.

And before you say - i have PS3 and PS4 and shitton of game bought. But now - not so much, don't see a reason (i can play most of the games on PC).

So your angle of «they had to move to Cali or else they're dead» sounds really dumb to me. No offence meant.

Levii_92101d ago

Yes cause Sony has been garbage for the last 5 years. People will never stop talking about this embarrassing blunder now, i know i wont cause i was right the whole time.

Yes we do. We need to keep this fire lit to get their a$$es moving in the right direction. This is not the Nintendo or Xbox crowd were were full of toxic positivity and praise them for even the most dumb decisions to continue letting them dig a hole for themselves. demand better

richie007bond100d ago

As long as its about Xbox its ok lmao

Bit overstated I'd say. They've had some pretty significant successes and the failures have mostly been low cost low risk. The big one in the balance is Bungie, Marathon looks like a winner to me but if it flops and it may well do, could be a big mistake.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH101d ago

Low cost low risk? Concorde says hi….

CrimsonWing69101d ago

Biggest financial flop in ALL of media history. That’s just nuts.

Nacho_Z100d ago

You're absolutely right, the article mentioned Concord and Firewalk but didn't connect them and I'd forgotten they were responsible for that massive blunder.

crazyCoconuts100d ago

The odds are so stacked against these online competitive shooters. Even if it's a good game it will likely fail. Sony keeps rolling the dice trying to get snake eyes at $200m a roll

tay8701101d ago

Stupid article. Insomniac, housemarque, nixxes, bluepoint and valkyrie were all good buys. Jury is out on haven until fairgames$ releases. Bungie while an overpay, is a very talented studio and will pay dividends for playstation. Firewalk was obviously a mistake.

thesoftware730101d ago (Edited 101d ago )

It's no different than the 1000s of Xbox low console sales threads... there is at least 2-3 a day in here.

So yeah, this news is fresh, they just cancelled a handful of games by promising developers, and indeed they have little to show for PS5, with the exception of insomniac.

Bungie- Destiny series(dead for a while now)
Housemarque -Returnal
Nixxes- remakes
Bluepoint- remake
Haven-nothing so far
Firewalk- disaster

Not to mention the closures and layoffs.

Let's be real, this is becoming a trend this gen for them, and let's not talk about MS please, as this is strictly about Sony.

tay8701101d ago

Bungie has multiple games in the pipeline, one of them releasing this yr

Bluepoint are the best remake studio in the business and a great support studio.

Nixxes are the best PC porting studio in the busines

Housemarque- delivered a fantastic AAA game in returnal.

Valkyrie- are another very good support studio.

Insomniac have quickly become one of gamings best studios under sonys wing and have single handedly saved PS this gen.

Fitesprite released one of the best psvr 2 games this gen. I'm eagerly waiting their non vr games.

Elda101d ago (Edited 101d ago )

Returnal is fab.

No. It’s Sony. It’s okay to call out a company. We are consumers of their products and have paid money for good hardware. Software that was promised, has not yet been delivered.

PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Are Not the Future of Gaming, Says US Analyst

For the first few years of this generation, a number of industry analysts argued Sony may need to add first-party games to PS Plus at launch in order to maintain pace with Xbox Game Pass.

The Japanese giant, to its credit, always maintained its position that this was unsustainable. It later added tiers to its subscription offering, providing good value with PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium without going all-in like its Redmond rival.

Microsoft has since missed a number of targets with its own service, and has subsequently started releasing games like Forza Horizon 5 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Sony’s console.

Well Sony never said that, the other camp did and we all know how that went.

goken2h ago

Not all know. I am betting those observing this while obscured may have trouble comprehending 😅

dveio21h ago

Back in the day, there were even discussions and I believe statements from Spencer about wether Sony would allow Game Pass on Playstation.

At least for the time being this option seems definitely to be ruled out completely.

Why Portability Still Matters for Nintendo Switch 2—and What We’re Hoping to See

Nintendo Switch 2 upgrades portability with a bigger screen, 1080p handheld play, and Wi-Fi 6. Here's why it still matters in 2025.

As someone who travels for work I still care about portable systems.

I have found using remote play in a hotel room is an excellent experience in a major city as I've got my console hard wired to a gigabit connection at home however it's not perfect if power trips the console tends to go to the repair section and can't be booted remotely so it's a annoying call to family to power it on for me.

A hotel out of town or regionally though that can cause havok for remote play as I'm always on 5g using it hotel wifi is never good enough for a solid remote play session.

But leaving a stable location and getting onto a plane or train and there's little to no chance of a good experience with remote play thats where something like the switch 2 will really shine for me personally long haul flights are exhausting and one of my most hated things the switch has been invaluable for me and I'll absolutely be upgrading

Goodguy011d 9h ago

Nintendo has always done it the best, handheld is in their genes. I do wish their dock could be like an egpu though and it make it much more powerful, it's a bit harder for me to play portable now for some odd reason, love just sitting on the couch with a big screen and controller. And ofc always great to have the portable option and for me it's best for smaller games.

jznrpg1d 7h ago

I was hoping for a little more than 540p upscaled

UltimateOwnage1d 6h ago

IMO, 540P upscaled in portable mode to a 1080P screen using DLSS on the tensor cores will likely extend battery life using a lower TDP and provide much better anti-aliasing and similar clarity compared to native 1080P with med/low AA at a higher TDP. It’s just a better way to use a mobile chipset. That’s not a flaw or weakness, it’s a key benefit for the portable design of the platform.

repsahj1d ago

Lol, even the impressive upscaling feature of Switch 2 can now spin to a negative one.

jznrpg4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Switch 1 was hitting 720p and above that with no upscale, so why can’t they have a higher res and upscale it more

repsahj3h ago

@jznrpg
Because of that even the current gen games will now run on switch 2 that looked as good and with decent framerate as the current gen consoles.

Do you watch Nintendo's hands on preview for switch 2? LOL.

badz14917h ago

because aside from Nintendo's own games which have their dedicated fanbase, portability is the only other thing it has going for it. Nintendo will be eliminated faster than xbox if they ever decide to do a dedicated home console again. going the hybrid way is the only way left for them and they are lucky they dominated the portable market all those years ago. imagine the power of the Switch 2 as a console this day and age with the same price as PS5. they will be the laughing stock of the market.
