Dynasty Warriors: Origins Review - IGN

Dynasty Warriors: Origins doesn’t just have the largest amount of enemies the series has thrown on screen at once, it also deepens its combat, improves its storytelling, and provides a healthy amount of replayability.

Goodguy01104d ago

Oh wow. Looks like koei finally went all out for a dynasty warriors game. Will have to consider purchasing this one.

Popsicle104d ago

I am not normally a DW player, but the demo sold me. This is a different DW game.

DafunkyRebel104d ago

Can't decide between this and KCD2

JunonZanon104d ago (Edited 104d ago )

A DW game getting a 9 from IGN, are there flying pigs outside? We may be back to the golden days of DW!

Michiel1989104d ago

their new policy is to not give 7's anymore.

Ninver104d ago

Their new years resolution is to ease up on the 7's

Lightning77104d ago

Weird, why are the tags ignoring the Xbox version? No wonder that version of these types of games doesn't sale when the ppl and community make it out to be only on one platform.

Gamehard104d ago

What's the reason all the other types of games don't sell on xbox then?

Lightning77104d ago

This is one of the reasons. It's a multiplat game. Don't deflect it's a multiplat and needs to tag the other platform.

andy85104d ago

It isn't. No ones getting game sales from a tag on a chat site. Gamers know what's coming out for your console if they're on a site like N4G.

Lightning77104d ago

@Andy Presence is important. Why isn't is tagged for the other platform when it's multiplat?

Chevalier104d ago (Edited 104d ago )

Yeah cause casual gamers not hardcore ones would notice missing tags on a videogame site right? Lmao.

Plenty of games don't sell on Xbox guess it's because they were never tagged properly 🙄

Lightning77104d ago

It's a multiplat game so the tags should show the other platform period.

Nyxus104d ago

The review is for the PS5 version so it only gets the PS5 tag in this case.

Lightning77104d ago

Games get reviewed on PS5 majority of the time but still tag the other platform. What's different here?

jznrpg103d ago

@Lightning77 I’ve seen a lot of Xbox multiplat reviews with no PS5 tag

Chevalier104d ago

"It's a multiplat game so the tags should show the other platform period."

I agree it should be tagged properly. But the general buyer isn't ever going to be on this site and not know because of a missing tag. They would just Google if the game was coming to Xbox. So it's a bit of a stretch that people aren't buying Xbox games for such an obscure reason. Lol

Christopher104d ago

It is tagged properly. You only tag platforms upon which the game was reviewed. This is standard on N4G. People, stop misinforming others. You're long-time users who should absolutely know this.

From our guidelines on submissions and tagging them: "d) review and preview story type submissions should only have the game tag and the platform(s) that the specific review applies to, never any other tag;"

Chevalier104d ago (Edited 104d ago )

" Presence is important. Why isn't is tagged for the other platform when it's multiplat "

Yeah and not having a presence in Walmarts I think would be bigger than some stupid tag on a website.

https://www.techtimes.com/a...

Gamestops have also dropped their sections to less than half of what it used to be and are now promoting Gamepass and pushing l console + Gamepass bundles too.

Xbox issue is they have lost their presence everywhere.

Lightning77104d ago

You're taking about physical media and vs digital. Something that's not related. I just find it weird that other games have a multiplatform tag but this game doesn't, even if it reviewed on PS, the the tags still show up.

Christopher104d ago

No, they shouldn't. Stop spreading misinformation, Lightning77.

Christopher104d ago

You only tag the platforms upon which the game was played for reviews. This is almost a 2 decade old guideline on submitting reviews. Same thing Metacritic does, btw.

Weird you're just learning this.

Lightning77104d ago

Most of the tags are just showing PS. As I said before, except for one post that I saw. Also as I said most games are reviewed on PS yet still show the other platforms.

104d ago
Christopher104d ago

There might be some that make it through incorrectly, but, no, other games reviewed on PS, in general, do not show other platforms for individual reviews. It's our policy to only apply tags specific to the platforms on which it was played. Typically this is just one platform. Stop creating an issue with something that isn't an issue. You're spreading misinformation.

Chevalier103d ago

"It is tagged properly. You only tag platforms upon which the game was reviewed. This is standard on N4G. People, stop misinforming others. You're long-time users who should absolutely know this."

Good to know. I don't post anything so don't know how things are tagged. But I just think the argument that the reason for games not selling makes no sense.

Whining about a xbox tag is crazy, how would the world move on

pwnmaster3000104d ago

I brought it up before when a game was on multiple platform and only showed Xbox.
This is honestly not new and can’t believe you didn’t know this.

https://n4g.com/news/264864...

This one only shows PC. Why arnt you on any of those complaining??

Lightning77103d ago

Clearly that applies the other single platforms. It's multiplat and needs to be treated as such.

helicoptergirl104d ago

That is because if the review states that is was reviewed on a certain platform, then you have to only tag that platform when you submit a review. It's always been like that. If the review does not specifically state that it was reviewed "only on PC" or something like that then you can tag all the platforms where it comes out.

Chevalier103d ago

"You're taking about physical media and vs digital. Something that's not related. I just find it weird that other games have a multiplatform tag but this game doesn't, even if it reviewed on PS, the the tags still show up."

Again your reason is absolutely idiotic. This isn't why games don't sell on Xbox. In fact it's you and many others who suggest digital sales are higher. So how does a tag prevent sales? Xbox fans too stupid to find games on Xbox digital store?!

Lightning77103d ago

"Again your reason is absolutely idiotic."

There you go I tried to be nice but you have to go and say that kid. It's part of the problem, Any type of presence is important, point blank. These types of games or JRPGS don't do well on that console a multiplatform tag would raise its awareness(even its minimal awareness), unless of course there's marketing deal happening then that's different. Every little bit helps.

If they're showing only PS reviews how are Xbox and PC guys suppose to know the game is on those platforms? Googling if those games are on other platforms is ridiculous. You should know right then and there if said game is multiplat or not.

Terry_B103d ago

Just not a lot of people care for the xbox anymore these days.

Chevalier103d ago (Edited 103d ago )

Lmao. You can't seriously be stupid enough to believe a F'n tag gives you any exposure. VGAs and ton of YouTube trailers tag Xbox and ONLY have the Xbox logo on Multiplatform games and that's 100s of millions of views. Yet these games sell worse and worse.

Hell Xbox exclusive titles don't even do well so let's not pretend a stupid tag would change a thing. Christopher actually is right GTFO with this stupid misinformation act.

Also mention JRPGs. Remember when Xbox 360 was dominating and had this huge campaign advertising FF13 on the 360?! Huge campaign and seen everywhere even during a superbowl I think too. How did that turn out?! 80-20 split for Playstation

Lightning77103d ago

"VGAs and ton of YouTube trailers tag Xbox and ONLY have the Xbox logo on Multiplatform games and that's 100s of millions of views. Yet these games sell worse and worse."

Which games are these? Again I'm talking about JRPG exposure. I'm already repeating myself...

"Hell Xbox exclusive titles don't even do well so let's not pretend a stupid tag would change a thing. Christopher actually is right GTFO with this stupid misinformation act."

Indiana Jones says kid. Btw I'm not even talking about those games I'm talking about Jrpg's or Japanese Centric games.

I dunno if if I remember a Super Bowl commercial of course it sold more on PS nearly doubled to be exact, those types of games always have and will sell better on PS. Yet those games selling worse on X now. Yet way better on 360 when they had the exposure. Doesn't need to outsell the PS version not happening but those types of games still sold good on 360 regardless. That's where X needs to get back to.

Chevalier102d ago

You're an idiot if you think any amount of tags or any exposure will increase sales of JRPGs on Xbox. It's pretty much impossible at this point to get sales. Remember every one on Xbox is primarily digital and unfortunately Xbox fans just assume everything should be on Gamepass. JRPGs and all these types of games will only sell on Playstation and Nintendo. So again you're barking up the wrong tree. Fans of these games are Playstation and Nintendo gamers generally. Xbox isn't going to get back there.

"No wonder that version of these types of games doesn't sale when the ppl and community make it out to be only on one platform"

Sorry just have to laugh at this stupidity again. 🤣 Seriously the most idiotic thing to say. Xbox gamers do NOT buy games. Then add in that lots of the games you suggest are niche and it's even worse. Xbox is all about Gamepass and nothing else.

Totally unexpected! I love the Dynasty Warriors series so this is good to see! Especially coming off the back of 9, not wanting to watch any reviews on it though, want it to be a surprise, can't wait

blackblades104d ago

I played the demo I was expecting it to be good, I even seen certain like MAX getting hype for it and thats rare.
