AMD is in trouble. The RTX 5070 has the same performance of the RTX 4090 for the price of $549. And it's Cheaper than a PS5 Pro 🤔

ZycoFox108d ago

People are saying the 5090 is only 30% faster than the 4090 already.. so IDK, need to wait for benchmarks.

The 5070Ti is still looking like the sweet spot anyway... But as expected from rumours, the 5080 and 5090 have a big gap between them.

This generation is certainly not like 3080 vs 3090 where the 3080 was only a bit slower but much less vram.

Sonic1881108d ago (Edited 108d ago )

Nvidia’s new DLSS 4 and A.I. processing capability will probably give it faster performance. Either way I don't see AMD competing with them. With more AI acceleration than ever even the RTX 5070 is claimed to offer RTX 4090-level performance for $549 just because of the AI technology

Yeah with the new features I don't doubt it. But we need to see what's on/off and what frame times are like etc with the new stuff turned on, apparently lower latency this time, we'll see.

"People are saying the 5090 is only 30% faster than the 4090 already.. so IDK, need to wait for benchmarks."

No... Nvidia itself is showing this on their own website! Nvidia have videos that compare native 4K performance to DLSS frame generation for each featured GPU and looking at the RTX 4090 videos that used the same game and similar benchmark scene shows the improvement in raw real performance without frame generation is 30% between RTX 4090 and RTX 5090. You can almost play CyberPunk 2077 at 30FPS in 4K with all settings maxed out without DLSS frame generation on the next generation of Nvidia GPUs which will probably be the fastest GPUs on Earth until RTX 6000 is released (Sorry AMD, I don't expect much from you guys).

NVIDIA never mentioned how it’s competing with the 4090, and most likely it is comparing a RTX 5070 using DLSS 4 vs a 4090 using DLSS 3, and we have to see real world comparisons of how DLSS4 really works and looks in motion, so in very specific games that are DLSS4 upgradable and probably not all of them does the 5070 compete with the 4090.

Most direct comparisons in pure raster show the RTX 5000 series being around 30% - 40% more powerful than the RTX 4000 series, which is a more realistic jump, putting the 5070 closer to a 4070ti / 4070ti super. (still an achievement nonetheless on the software side getting to 4090 tier).

AMD nor Intel are directly competing with NVIDIA anymore, they can’t at this point without taking a generation offer to completely leapfrog their current-line up with McM. That being said AMD simply needs to focus on price:performance, and getting FSR4 to be a DLSS3 rival with hundreds of games supported before the end of 2025.

--Onilink--108d ago

It is a comparison of dlss3 vs 4, but even beyond that, the actual scenarios would have to be even more cherry picked than usual because the VRAM difference is massive.

No one should realistically be expecting the 5070 to be at a 4090 level

I_am_Batman108d ago (Edited 108d ago )

It doesn't have the same performance as the 4090. Not even close. Don't fall for Jensens marketing nonsense. It uses 4x frame generation to get there which the 40 series doesn't have. Multi Frame generation significantly inflates frame rate, but doesn't increase performance. It just smothes the motion, which may be great if you have a 360Hz (or more) monitor, but really not that useful at lower frame rates.

Nvidia has one benchmark on their website without DLSS and it shows 5070 Far Cry 6 RT performance at close to 30% higher than 4070. And that's a cherrypicked example. As always wait for independent benchmarks and real world prices.

Sonic1881108d ago (Edited 108d ago )

I saw that benchmark. But the A.I. upscaler technology is still impressive. Nvidia basically just using tricks lol. The casual gamer won't even know the difference. But someone like you and me can see the difference

neutralgamer1992108d ago

Sonic

You think it will have same performance as 4090? Seriously? That's just marketing. I can't believe how many people are believing 5070 can beat 4090 which still cost 2 and half times more than 5070

Sonic1881108d ago

Of course not but the DLSS4 and A.I upscale technology is still impressive

neutralgamer1992108d ago

AI upscaling is still few years away before it really becomes useful. But let's see. I just want people to understand what's real raw power vs what's PR talk

Tacoboto108d ago

"AI upscaling is still few years away before it really becomes useful"

... uhh... we've had AI Upscaling since the RTX 20 Series 6-7 years ago; it's been useful for years and DLSS4 only makes the best solution out there even better.

PRIMORDUS108d ago (Edited 108d ago )

"It’s the new card’s access to 40TFLOPs of AI processing power and Nvidia’s new neural rendering and DLSS 4 technologies that allow this card to achieve such performance." Without all that, you can forget it would even close to a 4090. Besides they did it again in classic Nvidia style be cheap asses with the 12GB VRAM, it should have had 16GB, no amount of bullshit from Nvidia can justify the 12GB.

Fonsecap108d ago

Of course it has the same power, and people who paid 2000$ for a 4090 are dumbasses... Where did you get that info? A card for a quarter of the price of a 4090's MSRP with the some performance? Yeah and Jensen Huang is the new Santa.

Profchaos108d ago

They published exactly that officially

Profchaos108d ago

That's so misleading though cheaper than a ps5 pro

You don't include all the other components you need

jznrpg108d ago

They can pretend to play games on it

UltimateOwnage108d ago (Edited 108d ago )

Most of the gains nVidia is touting for the Blackwell based cards is only there if the game is made for DLSS 4. Without it, their general purpose performance is only a small step forward from the 4k series for the average title. AMD’s FSR and other tech boosts nearly all games and ups the baseline. They’ve got nothing to worry about here.

babadivad108d ago

I'm gonna guarantee that's nVidia marketing speak. It's as fast as the 4090 when you tweak the settings to exactly the way we set it. And if you use dlss4 (which we are artificially cutting off older GPUs from using). Then it's "as fast".

Also, not all games will supper our new DLSS, so really, it's not as fast...

TheTony316107d ago

The Pro is a full system tho.

jwillj2k4107d ago

Cheaper than the PS5 Pro?? Are we really doing this again?

blanka4545107d ago

5070 is not same as 4090 haha they make people fools saying that. marketing b.s

AvP on the Jag was pretty ambitious for the time. I always wondered what a smoother (faster) frame rate would have done for that game. nice to see a spiritual sequel is in the works after all these years.
