Yeah spend 1500+ dollars to play marginally better looking games with the same mechanics as games 15-20 years go (no joke). PC tech is just a racket at this point.

Modern PC tech has turned into such a mess for games, plain and simple. With all the fancy hardware and tools like DLSS, FSR, and XeSS, developers have gotten lazy. They don’t even try to optimize games anymore because they know these features can slap a Band-Aid over the problem. Instead of pushing for better performance, they’re just dumping half-baked games on the market, confident that modern tech will make up for their lack of effort. But hey, look how shiny that surface is...

And as if that wasn’t already a huge issue, here comes engine consolidation, led by the always-disappointing Unreal Engine 5. It’s the industry’s go-to tool because it’s universal and easy to access, but that has encouraged studios to cut corners everywhere. Instead of building teams of experienced developers who know how to make games run well, they’re outsourcing huge chunks of work or hiring entry-level people to fill the gaps. It’s cheaper, sure, but it’s also why so many games look great in trailers and then run like garbage at release. The next phase is bound to be full-on AI-made games, and honestly, with how things are going now, I’m not even sure if they could be worse.

i dont like that you blindly blame devs for this. publisher says release the game on this date, dev says that's not enough time, so they make compromises and optimization is one and a lot of devs just dont have the skills to even do it. many more layers to this but yes modern games are sometimes a joke considering where we came from not that shitty games didn't exist before. simplification promotes laziness and im not a fan of dlss, frame gen etc. anyways
And fuck TAA

Journalism and “influencers” at their finest!

**Surprise shocker** new hardware states it utilises companies new tech…

“This proves it’s exclusive to the hardware” - despite it not saying that anywhere and there is absolutely no indication that will be the case.

“Yea but I reported it first, if it comes true I would have leaked it to the world”.

Don’t know why this just popped up in the current feed it’s almost 3 weeks old… it proves exactly what I said about the obvious failings of “gaming journalism” and “influencers” though. Complete waste of space oxygen stealers!
