It's not my most anticipated game for 2025, but I'm still interested in it. Time will tell if this game turns out better than Ghost of Tuishima. I'm looking forward to the next adventure.

46player121d ago

Sony needs to fire him asap. He’s clearly not smart enough to be in charge.

That game is going to fail miserably based on their initial impressions.

46player121d ago

Women were NOT samurai. Anyone that’s ever stepped foot in Japan will understand enough about their culture to know this never happened.

Feel free to ask AI. The developers should have!

pwnmaster3000121d ago (Edited 121d ago )

Foreigners think they know Japanese history.

I live in Japan for several years and yes there is female samurai’s. They even have movies.

I have several Japanese friends and my wife is Japanese. They see no problem with this game.

Also ghost is not about Samurai.
Jin just happens to be a Samurai.
Ghost can be anyone.
Ghost can be a fucking fisherman lol

senorfartcushion121d ago

And you're not a man, you're a dork who can't be around girls 😂

Kratosthegr8121d ago (Edited 121d ago )

Oh crap.. I guess AI just schooled you. Maybe you should ask AI to show you how to do research before you make statements like this.

jwillj2k4121d ago

Magic doesn’t exist has that stop you from buying anything?

Human zombies don’t exist has that stop you from buying anything?

We’ve never walked on other planets has that stop you from buying anything?

We’ve never lived in a post apocalyptic world has that stopped you from buying anything??

It’s a video game buy it or don’t buy it but stop with this fake selective outrage.

The_Algorithm120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

"Female samurai, also known as onna-bugeisha, were highly skilled in combat and fought alongside men as equals. Although their number was relatively small, they were well-respected for their courage and prowess."

Tomoe Gozen
Empress Jingū
Nakano Takeko
Ōhōri Tsuruhime

Your comment failed miserably based on it's initial impression.

Edit: My bad I responded before seeing Mr_cheese reply. Credit to Mr_cheese.

Michiel1989120d ago

samurai were also not controlled by a player on the couch with a controller in their hand.

S2Killinit120d ago

Wrong. We even have a japanese name for a woman ninja. Please dont make up stuff.

360ICE120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

Another brain rotted away by rabid anti-wokeism. This is an addiction, and your life is worse because of it. The other answers cover the matter at hand well, I just wanted to say that this is no way to live your life.

If you can't enjoy something any time it has a woman in it, because you impulsively have to make up some reason why that's "woke" i.e. "bad", you're not gonna have a good time.

TheEroica120d ago (Edited 120d ago )

It's pretty funny to see boys scared of video game girls in 2025... 😂 Snowflakes are the worst.

46player119d ago

They never had female samurai. Period.

I asked AI purely based on your comment.

Question "Did japan ever have female samurai?"

Answer

Yes, Japan did have female samurai, known as "onna-bugeisha" or "onna-musha." These women were part of the samurai class and were trained in martial arts to protect their households, families, and honor. Notable historical figures include:

Tomoe Gozen, who was celebrated for her bravery during the Genpei War (1180-1185) and is one of the most famous female samurai in Japanese history. She is described in "The Tale of the Heike" as leading samurai into battle and engaging in combat with remarkable skill.

Nakano Takeko, who led a group of female warriors called the "Joshitai" during the Battle of Aizu in 1868, which is often considered one of the last significant engagements involving female samurai before the end of the samurai era with the Meiji Restoration.

Empress Jingū, who is considered one of the earliest female warriors in Japanese legend, reputed to have led an invasion of Korea while pregnant.

And this is why the human race will one day be at the mercy of our AI overlords 🤣

Rather than use the most elementary of research or critical thinking, folk like 46Player will talk as if they are even remotely informed when they are in fact, imbeciles.

I can only imagine how stupid a person like you has to be to proudly put your ignorance and misogyny on display?

Eonjay121d ago

Part of it is Intended to rage bait others. There is no intention of being accurate or correct. The point is to spread rage.

Elda121d ago

Keep dreaming that delusional dream.

Kratosthegr8121d ago

I swear even with AI around nowadays common sense is not such a common thing anymore.

Knushwood Butt121d ago

It's true. Many people either cannot read or have no reading comprehension.

RiseNShine121d ago

You know the West is mad when next year we're having 2 games about a female Samurai and a black Samurai, and yet somehow they both want to be historically accurate.

SavageFlamingo121d ago

And yet there were female samurai.

RiseNShine121d ago (Edited 121d ago )

Because in the West, Samurai is understood as a medieval warrior, but in Japan Samurai meant a political position, among which was to fight if needed, but in most cases, women, and specifically Samurai women, were only expected to raise their children and defend their households and not much more. From a history book:

"Kamakura Period (1185-1333 CE) and Muromachi Period (1336-1573 CE):
The rise of the samurai class during the Kamakura and Muromachi periods brought about significant changes in Japanese society. The introduction of a warrior-based feudal system led to a further decline in the status of women.

Samurai women were expected to manage their households and raise their children, while their husbands were away at war or serving their lords. They also received training in martial arts to defend their homes and honor. Women from other social classes continued to perform traditional roles within their families and communities, working alongside men in agriculture, trade, and crafts.

During these periods, Buddhist nuns gained prominence in religious life, and some women became influential poets, artists, and writers. However, women's roles in politics and governance became more limited, and their opportunities for education and cultural expression were often restricted by their social status. "

So did female Samurais existed? Of course, but not in the traditional sense that we understand of Samurai as a warrior, but as part of a special class in Japan medieval society that were the Samurai. They were indeed female warrior Samurais, but they were extremely uncommon and not particularly noteworthy.

Even the existence of the most famous female Samurai, Tomoe Gozen, remains unproven: "The authenticity of Tomoe's existence has never been verified, except for what is written in the Heike Monogatari. ." (Wikipedia)

Mr_cheese121d ago

The west isn't mad, individuals and certain groups are mad.

Johnh5223119d ago

Maga kids these days want every thing bland white and male

CS7121d ago

I hate woke as much as the next guy but come on having a female protagonist doesn’t mean that it is woke.

Furthermore, nothing has indicated that Sucker Punch is willing to compromise their game’s vision for woke ideals. GOT was excellent.

You guys make it worse when there is an actual problem… like Intergalactic.

S2Killinit120d ago

There is zero problem with Intergalactic or Ghost of Yotei. These are xbox haters who have nothing else to say so they are using politics (toxic politics) to spread hate about games they know nothing about.

120d ago
VariantAEC119d ago

@S2Killinit
We don't know what's going on with Intergalactic, yet. I'm cautiously optimistic for it and that we'll see a return to form for Naughty Dog with Intergalactic instead of going in the very strange and inarguably and unnecessarily woke path that TLoU:P2 took.

I don't care that some "gamers" think the lead character of Intergalactic doesn't look feminine to them. We didn't see any strong signs of wokeness in the first and still only available trailer for their upcoming game, so, I'm interested.

Deeeeznuuuts121d ago

Funny that there's actually people who think there wasn't female samurai, does it damage your masculinity that much?
It's very well documented and there's been plenty

Elda121d ago

One of the reasons why I'll be buying it on day one.

Deeeeznuuuts121d ago

Same, I enjoy a female protagonist, as long as it's not forced or trying to push an agenda and this doesn't do that, so definitely will be buying

Elda121d ago

It's definitely on the top of my list to play this year.

So now they have to pay $70 like the US customers.

Profchaos1d 6h ago

They have to pay R$399,90 which converts to 70. But can fluctuate

Agent751d 10h ago

£70 top for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 games, £75 tops for Switch 2 games in the UK, that's tipping $99 at the current exchange rate.

rlow11d 9h ago

This is how they’ll force everyone into subscriptions services and never ever owning your games again.

Knushwood Butt1d 7h ago

I don't see how, because the used market will still be there, plus if the price is so high that demand is low, retailers will discount them. Not ideal for them, but that happens with any product.
If they were serious about forcing customers to digital, they'd stop manufacturing physical altogether.

neutralgamer19921d 6h ago

Knushwood

Keep this in mind

Publishers may make a lot less copies of physical games so this way they can even dictate that used market stays high. I am a Pc gamer so buying digital has been accepted it is what it is

I will not pay $70 for games never. Will always wait for $25-$30

rlow11d 3h ago

Well the used market will exist only if theirs physical media. As I’m sure you know Xbox and PlayStation latest are digital with physical media as an option. Combine that with higher prices across the board and subscription services start looking a whole lot better. Especially for those on a tight budget…….Slowly but surely the needle keeps on getting pushed towards an all digital future. I hope I’m wrong, but so much points to it.

Obscure_Observer13h ago

"If they were serious about forcing customers to digital, they'd stop manufacturing physical altogether."

All they need to do is give you an empty box with a digital code written on it just like Nintendo.

Profchaos1d 6h ago

I'll just play less games or more retro

Hedstrom1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

Well people will just play games that doesnt cost intill they drop in price. Look at most played games and you find Fortnite, Roblox, Rocket League and so on. When games start to cost 100$ people will just not buy them. And i think this move is kinda bald from the industry, because i dont think they are counting on people just not buying their product. But if you check behind the scenes of peoples purchasing power its really low, people are truly struggling economically. And gaming isnt something people priorities when you dont get food on the table..

Profchaos17h ago

But in that vein I've known people who say that their kids have spent easily 1000 plus on Roblox it's all they play and their birthday money etc goes into buying Roblox money.

Is were here complaining about 80 dollars for a game free to play is not the alternative when free to play is like like the cocaine dealer giving you the first hit for free it's setting you up to get hooked and inevitably spend more on skins than you'd buy a game for

rob-GP14h ago

Even though this game isn't in PS Plus and won't be for at least 1-2 years...
