WTMG's Leo Faria: "I wish this collection had retained other Legacy of Kain titles, as jumping straight onto the second game in the series can be quite confusing for newcomers. But even then, I can’t complain much about Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered. Both games in this collection have aged quite a bit, but still feel shockingly modern in some regards. They look just a tad bit better, control and perform just a tad bit better, and are wrapped in a neat little package full of extras and bonus features. I now finally understand the hype behind this franchise. Even if you have no nostalgia whatsoever towards it, they are still part of an incredibly deep and well-written universe totally worth exploring if you’re a fan of gothic horror."

Loved this two games the third one no so much I wonder if they’ll keep the fog traveling between levels.

More often it's "buy one, get three" or "buy one, get eight". In 2024, there were plenty of good deals, including Castlevanina Dominus Collection, which assembled three must-play handheld Castlevania titles and revivified one of the rare franchise duds; Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered, which commemorated 25 years of Soul Reaver with a fresh coat of paint and quality-of-life updates; Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a well-researched, well-curated celebration of the crossover fighting series; and Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, the definitive way to play three classics of the genre."

The series comprises of five games (and one scrapped online spin-off) with combined sales estimated at 3.5 million, yet we’ve seen remasters of PS2 era licensed platformers and even the notoriously bad Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties before this collection. This isn’t the first to be released, though – the Evercade gained no-thrills conversions of the PS1’s Blood Omen and Soul Reaver a few months ago. A fine taster before this main course, as it were."
