seen review of Soul Reavers last night . It looked like a upscale version of ps1 no 3d environment . was this deliberately made to scare off developers not to continue making old skool games???
Hope not , modern day titles not doing much better for my money.

"no 3d environment" wtf arou you talking about? 🤨

jznrpg175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

If they remaster it again it will just be 1D lines

savedsynner174d ago

LOL "Line: The Game" And technically, would we even be able to see a 1D object since if it was 5 inches long, but 0 high and deep, how could we see it...they could literally release a game with nothing on the screen :)

DankSinatra174d ago

What are you talking about? The textures have been updated, the character models have been overhauled. The controls have been modernized. What the hell is "no 3d environment"? The whole game is 3d

MrBaskerville174d ago

And what did he expect? It's been obvious from the start that it would stay faithful to the original and that it wasn't a complete remake.

These guys been hating on everything recently.

TheNamelessOne175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

I had a feeling this was going to end up a pretty low-effort re-release. Nightdive are the kings of oldschool remasters.

MrBaskerville174d ago

It seems to be high effort like Tomb Raider. Even features restored cut content.

There are good good review scores from other sites, you know..

having played SR1 on ps1, then beat it again on dreamcast. Then beat SR2 on ps2 when they came out. This is a solid remaster, the improvements they made are all taken for granted by modern audiences. If you really played the originals you appreciate all the new stuff they did. Got my support, solid remaster. Waiting on blood Omen 1/2 and Defiance

Best Compilation of 2024

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Video game compilations are like those "buy one, get one" offers that pop up in supermarkets and online retailers every now and then. Only they're better. More often it's "buy one, get three" or "buy one, get eight". In 2024, there were plenty of good deals, including Castlevanina Dominus Collection, which assembled three must-play handheld Castlevania titles and revivified one of the rare franchise duds; Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered, which commemorated 25 years of Soul Reaver with a fresh coat of paint and quality-of-life updates; Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a well-researched, well-curated celebration of the crossover fighting series; and Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, the definitive way to play three classics of the genre."

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that a Legacy of Kain franchise revival has been a long time coming. The series comprises of five games (and one scrapped online spin-off) with combined sales estimated at 3.5 million, yet we’ve seen remasters of PS2 era licensed platformers and even the notoriously bad Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties before this collection. This isn’t the first to be released, though – the Evercade gained no-thrills conversions of the PS1’s Blood Omen and Soul Reaver a few months ago. A fine taster before this main course, as it were."
