Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is one of the first PC games to require ray tracing.

Doom Eternal ran fast and smooth even with RT, I guess they are really pushing the ID Tech 7 engine. All these new games but no mention of direct storage anywhere. What a wasted tech. there is no mention of any fast loading with this game, just it requires a SSD, which is fast but NVME SSDs are much faster.

Michiel1989143d ago

an nvme, as you said, is also an ssd so I'm not sure why they should specifically mention that. Never seen any game do that, it's not like it's gonna go into overdrive by just saying the word nvme in the specs.

PRIMORDUS143d ago

NVME drives are much faster than older 600mbs SSDs using the SATA cable. The point I wanted to make is that Direct Storage seems like a failed tech. no new games show that it's being used.

mkis007143d ago

It's like saying 100 million vs 1 million ...its all dollars. On one you can replace ram as its used. On the other you can't.

Kornholic143d ago

I don't see a problem here. PC gamers always tout how powerful gaming PCs are.

Tacoboto143d ago

Spider-Man 2 is another RT-exclusive title, the way it was built for PS5.

So it's not anymore about how powerful PCs are when base-level consoles are putting this up. Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition is the only other one I can think of.

Michiel1989143d ago (Edited 143d ago )

no it's just a ps5 exclusive that has raytracing, it's not like you need to get the raytracing upgrade for your ps5 to be able to play it. Also metro is the outlier, not the norm, so by trying to prove a point and only mentioning one game that the devs just did awful with when it comes to performance and not knowing any other title, that's not the standard.

Tacoboto143d ago

No one said it's a standard. What are you talking about?

Spider-Man 2 is also coming to PC in a month or so. RT-capable hardware has been on the market for over six years now, there aren't really any options anymore that don't support RT.

CantThinkOfAUsername143d ago

I'm sure 3050/3060/4060 owners will appreciate this very much.

Playstation owners buy games.

Strange seeing Hogwarts there as I downloaded it for my son from PS Plus a couple of days ago.

Playstation owners buy games? That's a wild badge of honor my boy.

Bathyj3d ago

Not really. It's directly contributed to having the healthiest console and ecosystem. Not really debatable.

The alternative is a console platform holder whose least important customers are the ones who own their console. That's why it's Microsoft games studios now not Xbox in all but name.

Microsoft needs PlayStation, PC and Nintendo players now more than they need Xbox players. They're a dying breed.

andy853d ago

Not really. That's why Xbox is going under consoles wise. PS gamers purchase stuff that's why console and game sales are always high. Xbox gamers want games for 'free' on gamepass and to enter at the lowest price point (series s)

@InUrFoxHole said “Playstation owners buy games? That's a wild badge of honor my boy.”

This Tuesday after The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion was finally revealed I saw a tonne of conversation on X/Twitter of people gleefully mocking PS5 owners who said they were buying the game, as they were getting it for free with Game Pass. Yes, that’s great value for people with a Game Pass subscription - but do you still not see how it has impacted the Xbox hardware platform? It’s the reason Indiana Jones and Oblivion and Forza Horizon 5 aren’t exclusive anymore.

ravens522d ago

InUrFoxHole, its wild that you think that's wild lmao. 🤯. You buy your food from the grocery store?? Ugggh. You should get Factor. Who pays for food anymore when you can pay a subscription to receive food for "free". Disgusting.

Sound stupid? It is.

InUrFoxHole2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

@Bathy
That's some cope there. You think the healthiest console is the one that doesn't even provide their gamers with their exclusive games? That crazy talk man. The healthiest is Nintendo and that's 💯 not even a debate. MS provides gamers with games. Sony provides you with MS games. Enjoy

@andy
You have broke brain. Gamepass isn't free. It's a sub service. Jesus n4g knows how to pick'em

andy852d ago

@InUrFoxHole notice I put free in ' ' these? Doesn't take a genius. Every game that comes out on Xbox you'll see this comment "is this coming to gamepass".

2nd on the charts for a game such as Indy ain’t great.
Releasing half year after xbox version probably cooled off some demand.

This is a very good game, deserves the best chance to do well.

badz1492d ago

The real great performer here is Astrobot. keeping that rate of sales for a last year's game that is not GTAV, CoD and FIFA (now Hogwarts too). outselling MH Wilds and EA FC is kinda wild for Astrobot!

dveio2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Hogwart's, Indiana, Astro Bot & Monster Hunter - that's a pretty nice top 4 once again.

I bet MachineGames are quite happy about the sales pouring in.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle Feels Perfect on the PS5

If you didn’t catch Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at the end of last year on an Xbox Series X or PC, the PS5 version is worth it.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5: excellent game, solid port

The PS5 and PS5 Pro ports of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle lack much in the way of new features - but the game is still golden.

Hope there is a sequel planned. This game is better than expected.

gigoran87d ago

Port? I mean, it's a multi-console game that was just delayed for one of the consoles. If the next COD was a timed exclusive you wouldn't call it a port would you?

coolbeans7d ago

"Port" has been casually used like DF is doing here for some time. It's pretty innocuous, even if doing a 'port job' from PC/Xbox architecture to PlayStation architecture isn't the arduous task it used to be. Just take the title for what it is: MachineGames didn't rush to get this version out (according to DF).

VenomUK7d ago

I don’t think we need to get too pedantic about the use of the word port, the word itself is not a pejorative, it’s a bad port that is deserving of criticism. If a game is released on a platform after the release on other platforms, and was not developed in tandem with them, then it’s a port.

PRIMORDUS7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

This was my personal GOTY on PC. I wish more game companies would use ID Tech 7 or 8 for their games and just abandon Unreal Engine 5 and any future ones from Epic.

Flewid6386d ago

If there was a third person option I would've definitely bought it.

MIDGETonSTILTS176d ago

You’re missing out. The 1st person perspective is better suited for exploring the detailed environments, and helps you get the best view possible of the puzzles..

Flewid6386d ago

Yeah but missing out is a better experience than not having fun.
