XDefiant Will be Shutting Down in June 2025 - Our Message to Players

Dear Players,

Thank you for your incredible dedication and support of XDEFIANT. We regret to inform you that we are initiating the sunset process starting today, December 3rd, 2024. As a result, new downloads, player registrations and purchases will no longer be available.
Season 3 will still launch, so stay tuned for more updates to come. The servers will remain active, and the game will be fully playable until June 3rd, 2025.

Selling Ubisoft the streaming game rights was part of the CMA deal for Activision. I'm not entirely sure Microsoft can buy Ubisoft at all.
Plus it would be bad because it would ensure the firing of thousands of more devs.

I liked it at first but got sick of the hero shooter abilities. If they had a mode or the game didn't have it at all, I definitely would've played more. Maps also were too much like the 3 lane layout that cod always does. Really sick of hero shooters.

Biggest W was definitely no sbmm, sad but devs are gunna see this and think it's still great to have sbmm in unranked playlists. But this is what I kinda expected as there were some red flags here and there for the game. Hardly talked about after a week lol.

They had a chance to come out when MW3 was at its lowest point and they missed it. Either way it was gonna die. It was too generic.

Wow that's kind of surprising. I was under the assumption it was doing fine. I enjoyed what I played of it. But like a lot of free to play and live service games. After a few weeks or months you kind of get burnt out of them. Recently happend with Helldivers 2 for me stepped away from it for a while. Black ops 6 I'm already bored of it. Xcom was fun but got bored after a few weeks.

They did in October I think and honestly I feel like Ubisoft heard this And kept the game running a few extra months with a statement about how great it was doing just to spite the leakers. Now everyone stopped talking about it so it's time to kill it

was successful at launch, since the cod that year was mid. Player numbers quickly fell off, lotta jank, was super grindy at the start, lack of polish are real depth

I mean if you don't even give it a chance and only after 6 months u quit then i'm sorry but that's all on you.
And maybe release on steam too if u know what's good for business. Typical triple A CEO mindset, game didnt make billions in the first months so cancel the whole thing and find next thing to milk.

Seems to have only stayed alive for the last three months because Ubisoft didn't want to acknowledge the leaks as accurate so they did a whole dog and pony show about how they believe in the game in October when the shutdown was rumoured.

To me this was unavoidable they set out to eat cod's lunch yet didn't bring anything new to the table and in a sea of never ending ex cod developers starting up a new free to play shooter of the same nature it was just that more of the same and that's not enough to lure gamers away from their community to try something new.

Until this message gets through this will just be a rinse and repeat casualty story you can't just do the same thing as everyone else and expect success you can't kill cod it's been two decades it's become like trying to dethrone Mario it's insane.

Studios need unique experiences in general not trend chasing
