The original is such a great controller. Takes a while to get used to but, when you do, the thing is so damn effective and versatile.

I'm not so sure about this design; it's clearly based on the Steam Deck, which works there because of how bulky it is. However, for a controller, I feel those touchpads are a bit too low to be comfortable to use with the triggers and, in general, that is the combination you probably use the most with the original as it acts like a mouse.

I'm not a fan of it, but I don't think I'd like any design with the touchpads, unless I use it and it turns out comfortable. I didn't expect the Steamdeck to be as comfortable as what it actually is.

Yeah, but here’s the thing: what set the original Steam Controller apart from nearly every other controller on the market was the touchpads. By focusing on them, the original became the best alternative to a keyboard and mouse for PC-centric games.

But this supposed Steam Controller 2 doesn’t seem to focus on the touchpads—they’re clearly pushed out of the way. That’s what feels off. Sure, this design might work better for general gaming, but it sacrifices what made the original so unique.

Got one of the original ones...damn weird to get used to but its a great controller..

Have those back buttons and I'm sold on this. All four, only having two is a waste of an effort.

I tried so hard to like this controller. It looks great and on paper it sounded good but the reality of it was it was pretty dreadful and just didn’t feel right. The trackpads were too small, not the right shape and not sharp enough. The buttons and sticks felt too cheap. It really forced you to use the gyroscope in order to aim accurately.

I think their second attempt will be better.

It is priced at $49.99. From other articles I read, the game is more linear so probably like Mafia 1 and 2 instead of 3 (full open world). I am guessing around 10-12 hours.

RaidenBlack11h ago

Yep, I feel it'd be even more linear than the first 2

I Already pre- ordered the Deluxe Edition 👍

Too many massive open worlds this is refreshing. Concentrate on a more dynamic smaller area.

Open is good, too open where you easily get lost.. nah. Unfortunately even Nintendo has got a taste of open world and want to make huge deserts now, this is why I prefer Mario 3D Land and World, open enough for some exploration and alternate paths but not desolate either.

Gameplay looks fluid. Hope the story is on point.
