"“Causing Psychologically Harmful Video Game Addiction In Players”"
Ever wanted to take on most of the biggest publishers and developers in the video game industry? Live in Canada? Well the Consumer Law Group has a class-action lawsuit for you.
That’s the Canadian law firm proposing a class-action lawsuit against a number of the games industry’s biggest players, including (but not limited to) Sony, Microsoft, Rockstar, Take-Two, Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Roblox, Epic Games, Mojang Studios, Nintendo of America, Ubisoft and Ubisoft Montreal.
"NACON Revolution X Unlimited is a premium device with a premium price - stacked with features like an LCD screen and built with Hall Effect tech for longevity."
THIS IS HUGE. Do you know how long i've been waiting for an XBox style controller with rear paddles, a touch pad and gyro? This is enormous. I spent 400 dollars on a custom PS5 controller with rear paddles just so I could have that - but it broke and i've been devastated ever since. Even that controller didn't let me use keyboard macros as buttons (specifically the rear paddles) because it didnt have XBox Elite support in Steam (obviously). This is the greatest controller feature list of any controller on the market. Finally. Finally! Ordering one soon.
Assassin's Creed maker Ubisoft has been hit by a complaint from a European privacy firm over the data it collects from players.
Atlus has released a Q&A for Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army covering system information and release details
interesting thing is, that the switch 2 is still the inferior version, despite it being more powerful.
"[...]basically if you’ve played or bought a game from any of the above studios, and this class-action suit goes all the way to a win, then you’ll be owed some kind of compensation.
Of course whether or not the suit actually gets that far is a whole different story. The CLG isn’t wrong to point out that games are designed in ways to make them addictive, and they’re not the first to do it.
But taking on multiple giant studios like this is a big gamble that might not pay off at all."
For reference, the article specifies Sony, Microsoft, Rockstar, Take-Two, Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Roblox, Epic Games, Mojang Studios, Nintendo of America, Ubisoft and Ubisoft Montreal.
This is frivolous and stupid beyond belief. No specific examples cited here for WHY games coming from these games contribute to addiction.
I'm willing to have a conversation about addiction if they come with sufficient evidence, but this is genuinely dumb.
I am Canadian and this is just totally BS on the law firm. For fact that our economy is sluggish and not doing too well and they think this is an easier way to earn some cash money?
The parents need to be present. The lawyers should go after them.
So this law suit is against fun games...
