HMV eyes more Zavvi stores

Bloomberg writes: "HMV Group Plc, the U.K.'s largest CD retailer, may buy more stores from the administrator of collapsed rival Zavvi as music sales withstand the slowing economy better than expected, Chief Executive Officer Simon Fox said.

HMV is in talks to purchase "less than a handful" of Zavvi outlets after buying 14 last week for 700,000 pounds ($966,280), Fox said in an interview in London late yesterday. The stores are in districts without HMV outlets, he said. "

Makes sense, HMV now basically have the CD/DVD/Blu-ray market to themselves now on the UK High Street seeing as Woolies and Zavvi are gone/going it makes sense to expand and become even bigger.

I bet the HMV directers have loved the passed 6 months.
