PS5 Pro, the most powerful console ever, was just released. Does high price equal a good product?

The price isn’t high for what you get. My gaming TV is 3 times the price even including the disc drive and stand. If you have a higher end TV or monitor and are a console gamer I 100% recommend the PS5 Pro.

I disagree. I live in the uk and feel ripped off! Gains of 10-30% is poor for £800 😡. Still tho.. I'm really enjoying rachet and clank max settings 👌. Spiderman 2 and ff7 rebirth also amazing

Eonjay198d ago

PC gaming is more for similar gains. Is PC gaming automatically bad now because it is more expensive? Or us that argument exclusively for this product?

andy85198d ago

FF7 has gone from 1080p/60 to 4k/60. That's not 10-30%. First party might have small gains because they're so polished. 3rd party are where the gains are

tinchotin198d ago

It's not 30%. If you consider quality mode image quality (30 fps on ps5) runs at 60 on patched games on ps5 pro, it's a 100% boost.

Add to that a 2tb ssd

NotoriousWhiz198d ago

30% gains imply that you're upgrading a ps5, or choosing a pro over the base ps5 in which case you're looking at 30% gains for $300.

BeHunted198d ago

True. Unlike PlayStation, you can run more than 2 GPUs on your PC.

Starman69197d ago

If it was £650, I'd be very happy 😊. The price of tech doesn't seem to fall like it used to. Can only think ps6 is another 3- 4 year away and the launch pice will be easily £600+

Is the product good? yes

Is it essentia? no

Are we all tired about hearing about the price? I know I am

Will GTA vi convince us to get it? Rockstar will take that to the grave until launch

So far, I am not impressed with the inconsistency of my Pro experience so far.

My unit is unacceptably loud when playing disc based titles. Bringing back my nightmares of the PS4 Pro.

Some titles look noticeably better, while others, the differences are barely perceptible.

I just don't feel it's worth it for what I paid.

In my opinion £650 with a built-in drive would have been fairer. £830 for minimal gains & a return to a console that sounds like a jet engine hasn't been worth it for me.

Eonjay198d ago

Mine is whisper quiet. Sound like you need to return it. And if the money is bothering you then get a refund.

where-eagles-dare195d ago

Eonjay, I found out what the problem was. While I was playing the Last of us part 2, I was unaware that disc two was still downloading in the background while I was venturing through the first hour or two of the game.

This happened through two separate play sessions and it was really noisy while I was playing. Mercifully, once the game had fully downloaded, It was, as you say whisper quiet thankfully.

The cost of Pro never bothered me, but rather the overall value for money. Just today for example UK retailer Argos has already taken 40 quid off the exorbitant price of the Pro to £659.

You a full of bs the game loaded in the hard drive and is used only for a security check. Use your head we gamers know that the drive isn’t used at all but at start up

where-eagles-dare196d ago

I am not full of bs mandf. I was playing the Last Of Us Part 2 from the added disc drive that I payed £100 for.

The title uses two disks, one for loading up and the second disk needs to be in the machine for gameplay.

As I said, mine sounds like a jet engine with the disc drive. I may have a faulty unit or I may not have attached the disk drive properly? Or the system is just perhaps very loud with certain titles like PS4 pro was. I have not had this problem with Gran Turismo seven playing from the disk drive on my ps5 pro.

So smart arse, next time don't be so quick to sling insults and make incorrect judgements.

I agree, haven’t been blown away with the differences. I wanted a second PS5 for a while though so this finally gave me the excuse I needed.

tinchotin198d ago

100% performance boost and 2tb ssd.

If you consider quality mode image quality (30 fps on ps5) runs at 60 on patched games on ps5 pro, it's a 100% boost. I don't care if it's AI upscaling or whatever, that's the end result.

Add to that a 2tb ssd

Popsicle198d ago (Edited 198d ago )

After having the console for several days now I am very impressed with PSSR implementation. When playing BG3 and FF7R it is like someone wiped the vaseline off of my screen and I now see details that I never noticed before.

In all, I am very happy with my purchase, but would caution those on the fence that you may not notice much difference if you are still playing on a lower end TV. If you are blessed with a high end panel with all the bells and whistles, the difference for games that have been patched is immediately noticeable and the upgrade justifiable IMO.
