PlayStation 5 Pro Fixed Metaphor ReFantazio Framerate Issues Without a Patch

With the release of PS5 Pro, Digital Foundry has done some testing of the popular game, and the results are positive.

fantastic, i havent played my copy yet :)

Eonjay206d ago

While this is great news, you do get the feeling that the game isn't optomized properly if it needs the Pro to brute force it.

victorMaje206d ago

Exactly 1 of the concerns I mentioned about all this. Where previously constraints could push devs for ingenious optimizations, now lazy devs could chalk up low fps to "less powerful" hardware, leaving base hardware owners with the lazily optimized version…

CrimsonIdol206d ago (Edited 206d ago )

Bound to happen to some extent. It's unfortunately the harsh reality of PC gaming. Though I do feel like in the PS4 generation they managed to squeeze an awful lot out of the base PS4 well past the PS4 Pro release, stuff like TLoU2 and RDR2 still looked pretty phenomenal on base hardware. I think the price and install base dictates that the base PS5 will well and truly remain the primary console target. I'd be more worried about upcoming first party stuff getting a bit gimped just to upsell the Pro, but third party stuff has no reason to do this, no vested interest.

Sgt_Slaughter206d ago

That's what I've been noticing about all these games. How they weren't running at 60fps this whole time consistently or at the proper resolutions is laughable.

People bash the Switch and its games for certain aspects of gameplay or how they run, but they blatantly ignore the pile of PS5/Series games that were thrown out the door with total lack of optimization.

andy85206d ago

Indeed. Especially given the graphical quality of it. No reason for this not to be native 4K/60 on the base PS5.

I just played Rise of Ronin, wukong and street fighter 6 and honestly they play amazing. Rise of the ronin in graphics mode with frame limit on is locked 4k 60. But there is a noticeable jitter.

Wukong in performance mode looks comparable to graphics mode and runs 60 with minor drops (initially) to 57 back to 60. It’s really impressive. Balanced mode looked the worst though. I’m actually curious of a more detailed breakdown of these games because I’m going off my set up and im impressed.

Street fighter 6 on my pro also runs incredibly, I have also seen it blip up to 120 fps in finishing sequences for a moment before coming back to 60. And I’ve been looking at this game for over 1500 hours but there’s details I just noticed I didn’t even see before.

I can’t wait to try more games out but the tech is definitely impressive so far. Also, my monitor is the inzone m9 4k monitor it’s built to play a ps5 at its best and the pro is not lacking with it.

Thank you for this. Whenever you can, please post more impressions.

FF16 performs way better moving through towns in Performance mode. Switch to graphics mode to see what Performance mode was like on base PS5.

Resident evil 2 Raytracing mode runs well enough now. Going for a full replay with it on.

Only checked those as there was nothing on google for their increased performance.

Picked up my Pro early today, I'll be testing Metaphor & slew of other games tonight. Thankfully I have a 3 day weekend off to enjoy some gaming on the Pro.

Grilla206d ago

I tested it today,, performance was good but really needs AA. PSSR would fix that. Hopefully they patch it soon.

I have very mixed feelings about this game. It is not the GOTY i expected it to be for sure. It has too many mini games that break the rhythm..

andy8577d ago

No more than the original does really. A lot are completely optional too like the card game

Cacabunga77d ago

Card game in original FF? show me

CrimsonWing6977d ago

Break the rhythm? How many of those games were mandatory?

Cacabunga77d ago

Many.. costa del sol says hi. I just made it there it is painful AF

gold_drake76d ago (Edited 76d ago )

costa del sol has a max of literally 3 mini games that u need to play. every other mini game is optional and doesnt need to be won for the rest of the game (except the choco racing one)

im sorry that your attention span is so fragile that u need action 24/7

Where did you get that from what I said. I said the card game is optional.

Just ended chapter 13 & boy it has some emotional content. The game is very good & award deserving.

CrimsonWing6977d ago

It was my GotY. Heck it’s one of the best games I’ve played in a while, period.
