PS5 Pro review: the most powerful games console on the planet

The PS5 Pro is finally here and immediately sets its stall as the most powerful games console on the planet. PS5 Pro Enhanced games use its additional graphical prowess to offer eye-popping visuals, which includes ray tracing and higher resolutions without negatively impacting frame rates. While the extra storage space afforded by the 2TB SSD is most welcome. If only it came with a disc drive and vertical stand as standard, but it does everything else just right. Yes, it's pricey, but so too is a half-decent gaming PC with similar capabilities, so it's all relative.

It’s been a while since PS could make this claim.
But having the most power console means squat if there’s nothing to show for it. I’m looking at you xbox (sony please don’t follow this example)

Overall great deals for everyone I guess.

For me personally though:

• "players who join PlayStation Plus during this year’s celebration can save up to 33% on select 12-month memberships."

• "players who are currently a PlayStation Plus Essential or Extra member, save 33% on the remainder of your membership when upgrading to PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe."

Ehhh ... Days of Play last until 11th. My subscription expires June, 14th.

I literally am laughing at me rn.

DivineHand1251h ago

If Sony allowed subscriptions to be sold by third party sellers like they did in the PS4 days, you would not have this problem.

VersusDMC51m ago

That's why everyone should get their subscriptions now as last years days of play was may 29 to 12th of june. Mine is expiring on the 7th so i will just get essential or possibly extra this year.

And you can atleast get 15 days of extra or premium at 33% off to try it out.

Will see about getting my kid a cheaper PS Plus sub so he can backup and transfer his saves again. Really wish that was free ala XB.

Hopefully Destiny 2 The Final Shape comes with a free gear level upgrade like last year’s PS Plus offering. To bring you up to speed with all the content and everyone else. I still need to do a Nightfall Strike on Grandmaster difficulty, but ain’t got time to grind.

More like Days of Meh.... no specialized controllers or systems like in 2018 and 2019.

Eonjay4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

I mean it feels like you are forcing yourself to be negative here. Those are some really decent deals tbh. Also, everyone thought PS5 would go up to match Xbox so going down is a nice surprise too.

They did not confirm price increases. That is a lie.

If you really beleived what you are saying why do you have to keep making alts to say it?

None of those deals are of any great consequence to me. I was hoping they would bring back the special themed hardware after a 5 year break. They had it in 2018 and 19 and nothing for 20-24. 25 could have been the year to bring it back.

Boy, that's a real strange and specific goal post to have.

To be clear, what are you referring to when you say 'specialized'? Just wanted to know if you had a different take on these controller and system deals.

Deals on PS5 console offerings include:

In select regions such as Europe and Asia, PlayStation 5 console (Digital and Standard) will be on promotion, starting at €399.99 / £339.99 / ¥65,980.
$50 USD off PlayStation 5 Pro console

There will also be offers for PS5 accessories and games, including:

Both DoP 2018 and 19 had special themed PS4 slim. I have both and while they did not do them again in 20-24.... I was hoping they would bring it back in 25 with a special themed PS5 slim or even Pro.

This is their way to counter Nintendo Switch 2 launch week. I might get the discounted annual premium subs, but I think the game lineup is weak.
