PS5 Pro review: how close is your TV?

The Verge writes: "In every title I tried — while sitting no more than eight feet away from a 65-inch TV — the PS5 Pro was clearly the better place to play."

My Pro is out for delivery so I guess I’ll find out today. Unfortunately my favorite game and really the only game I play on PS5 (Virtual Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown)) most likely won’t ever get an upgrade. I’m really hoping for a significant boost in Rise of the Ronin because I love that games combat but the graphics are horrible.

SeTTriP218d ago

Yep I know I've played you before in VF.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH218d ago

What’s your GT? Your name looks familiar.

northpaws218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

Why do you buy a PS5 Pro if you only play one game that nevers get update? Genuinely curious.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH218d ago

Because I’m a gamer and I buy all consoles. Obviously I play more than just one game but I have over 1600 hrs in Virtua Fighter compared to maybe 20-50 hours in all my other PS5 games so I’d say it’s safe to say that all I play is VF5. I just simply like the best my money can buy so the Pro is the best console out so I have to have it.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH218d ago

Finally! Now the only real question is will it be for us true Virtua Fighter fans or will it be full of super moves, heat gauges, and flashy finishers for a newer audience.

DivineHand125218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

So basically, if you have a TV that is under 65" and you sit more than 10 ft away, you will not notice the graphical difference. I have a 55" display and sit about 7.5 ft, so I may see a difference.

CrimsonWing69218d ago

I mean they did say the improvement was like what, 30% graphics and 60% CPU? To me that’s not worth $700 - $800 when a PS6 is incoming that’ll give you these Pro enhancements AND play PS6 games. Mid-Gen upgrades are dumb to me.

BQ32218d ago

Don’t listen to that stupid shit, I play on an 83 inch tv and also on 32 inch 4k monitors. Going up to 4k and better setting makes a huge improvement on both setups. And it’s not just resolution, there will be more quality, more detail on objects, etc.

andy85218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

Eh not so much. I'm on a 28 inch monitor. If I play FF7 Rebirth I'll spot it instantly

z2g218d ago

700 for microscopic differences you won’t notice past 8 ft from your tv is the gist of this review.

andy85218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

Thing is they didn't play a single 3rd party PS5 game. That's where the big differences that you'll notice are. 1st party is so polished. 3rd party games wont be microscopic

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH218d ago

You clearly didn’t read the entire article because he clearly stated they tried FFRB 7 which is a 3rd party game.

andy85218d ago

@speakthetruth but he said that Rebirth was the biggest improvement out of them all. So like I said 3rd party is where people will see the difference.

buffig217d ago

If you're playing 10 feet away from a 55" TV there's nothing they can do about that. There's only so much detail your eyes can perceive from that distance. That's why TVs have optimal viewing distances. At not much further than that, you may as well be playing 1080p. There reaches a point where you're not really seeing the difference in pixel count. The only alternative would be for Sony develop Pro eyes for you

northpaws218d ago

Just like how people can't see the different on phone.

I don't understand what these reviewers expect, it is a GPU upgrade, it is not an auto "remake" machine.

Not sure it's 'as bad' as CP2077 as far as crashing and whatnot. It's just not as good of a game, so that makes the issues stand out more.

There's full walkthrough out there if you want to see the game for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
