The Nintendo Switch successor will be backwards compatible with Nintendo Switch games

And Nintendo Switch Online, too!

You want a glimmer of hope on a NOVEMBER 5TH? Nintendo has chosen the best time to confirm that the Switch’s successor will be backwards compatible with the Nintendo Switch. The successor will also bring with it Nintendo Switch Online, so the multiplayer and all those retro games will be available.

That´s cool news. But will those back compatible Switch games will get any enhancements for the Switch 2 hardware?

kewlrats180d ago

I almost doubt it, because it's Nintendo -- unless it's very specific games, like BOTW/TOTK or Odyssey.

RaiderNation179d ago

But why would they do that when they can sell you Switch 2 specific versions of those games all over again! 😉

The_Hooligan179d ago

With the rumored (or confirmed?) DLSS support in Switch 2, it might. Just gonna have to wait and see for now until Nintendo confirms something themselves.

Dont have to ... bc alone is enough for Nintenfans ...
It'd be sweet if they do ... but I doubt it
Being Nintendo, they'd rather sell enhanced versions later, starting 2-3 years after Switch 2's launch

Thats great news! Backwards compatibility is always welcome!

senorfartcushion179d ago

Does it say cartridge or software only?

SonOfOsiris179d ago

Yep Nintendo is still the king, going for the first place baby, only 8 mil. left

RE franchise is my favourite, it’s so awesome. There’s so much variety and many great games. That is why i hope we’ll get at least one more RE with first person perspective. I want that RE7 experienece one more time! The RE9 director is the same one as RE7 so i’m expecting it to be amazing.

About what it goes for on digital store fronts these days as well. It's always seems like it's on sale along with the other RE games.

I loved the similarities between Village and RE4. I guess the main thing that felt similar is they both seem like sprawling “villages” and the action was well balanced. Both incredible games in VR too.
