So far Dragon’s dogma 2 is the one that impressed me. Might end up getting the game if I get the pro.
Though watching is not the same as playing, I’m still looking at comparisons, I want to be convinced, still not, I’ll wait for players impressions.

Yes... yes it is. PS5 will boost the PS4 games that offered uncapped frame rates. Even the Series S|X could do the same and that was before the FPS boost program where certain games had their code specifically tweaked in order to achieve faster frame rate than originally intended.

Maybe the 'new' gameboost is akin to the fps boost program?

I remember how the time to triangle was going to be reduced so much by the PS5. That was supposed to change console gaming.
But - we're four years in now with a dearth of new first party titles and price *increases* on the PS5 in parts of the world. With a $700 mid-gen upgrade, no reduction of the base console after this long, how does Sony reintroduce a $500 base next-gen system, or even a $600 system? Forget including a disc drive as well, that'll only ever be optional if at all next-gen.

I don't see a reality where a higher price of entry *isn't* the change to the future of console gaming that's going on. An upscaling technique. For all the good that DLSS does as well as an effective upscaler, its existence has caused NVidia to skimp on meaningful generational uplifts and bloat their prices to obscene levels because what, a PC gamer is *really* going to buy an AMD GPU?

Time to triangle is a function of what game the devs decide to make themselves. Cerny talked about this, the platform and tools are very good for the ps5 so longer dev times are a result of the studios wanting to make more complex games.

Except it isn't an RX6800. It's above a 7700XT which is comfortably above a 6800 and that's without the RDNA 4 RT which it doesn't have.

This is good for gaming period. No one said DLSS wasn't. Get out your head. Now this tech is on a mainstream console and now ALL developers will use it. Now it won't just be something used on PC. Of course people don't see a big jump when compare static screenshots on their tiny phone, most media just ignore the increase in FPS like they don't even know how games work, and just join the hate train without processing the information themselves.

Is it expensive? Yes. Is it overpriced? In 2024, sadly no, everything is expensive these days. Is it worth it? Depends on each person, but for me, 100%.

As someone who is getting the PS5 Pro tomorrow, all I'm expecting of it is to solve the heavy reliance on FSR2 which leads to less than flattering results. PSSR should give us something closer to DLSS.
