Dragon Age: The Veilguard gets stamp of approval from Baldur’s Gate 3 dev

A Baldur’s Gate 3 developer has taken the time to give their thoughts on Dragon Age: The Veilguard and they give it a strong reccomendation.

Valkyrye194d ago

Incredible game, thank you Bioware!

Blad3runner00193d ago

Come on, I get the Baldurs Gate dev is just being nice, but come on! Baldurs Gate 3 is on another level compared to Veilguard. Veilguard isnt really even an RPG, let alone has the same quality that of BG3.

Armaggedon193d ago

On another level in some areas Im sure, but veilguard already has a superior presentation. Will probably have better characters too.

andy85192d ago

Better characters? I don't think I've played a game with such good characters as BG3 on a long time. Incredibly well written. Didn't it win the best character at last years awards?

Armaggedon192d ago

@andy85 I said probably. Bioware is known for their characters, and has held the championship for quite some time. But, at a certain point, it is all subjective. I didnt really care for many of the characters in BG3. Karlach was the only one I somehwhat liked.

Glad that the game is good but EA should had picked different colour palettes for that game. Purple is not an mainstream liked colour

jznrpg193d ago (Edited 193d ago )

So everything has the be mainstream? No thanks

Tacoboto193d ago

I guess I was more serious than even I thought when I said people were afraid of the color purple.

Either way, I'm personally excited for it tomorrow - have it preordered on Steam and I've got the space ready on both my PC and my Deck. After seeing the DF review I'm so ready for a Day One PC title that's actually ready to be played on Day One.

MDTunkown193d ago

I am sure EA goal is mainstream and sales expectations are set very high and if the game falls to meet the sales expectations the studio will head towards same direction as latest Prince of Persia and I bought both games. The game already has a lot of negative hype from previous BioWare games like anthem and andromeda so would been wiser to play safe in colour department.

Dream wishlist : Larian taking up a future contract for a future Dragon Age sequel.
Done purely independently without any EA influence.

jznrpg193d ago

We get less games that way. I prefer Larian makes what they want to make and EA makes what they want to make. The next Dragon Age (if there is one) is many years away.

RaidenBlack193d ago (Edited 193d ago )

Less good games is better than frequent flops.
But anyways, looking at the downvotes, ... umm, is Larian's DragonAge that bad an idea? If time interval's the pain point here, well ... we waited 10 years for another Dragon Age and the current Bioware will be focusing on Mass Effect anyways.
Or do people want Larian to focus exclusively on their own IP next? In that case, I say the above comment was a hopeful wishlist, as Larian will never collab with EA but ... they're the most suitable independent devs currently available for a proper Dragon Age sequel (as both Obsidian and inXile are bought by MS)

Armaggedon193d ago

@raidenblack

Not necessarily so simple. I am sure larian will turn it into a traditional rpg, which I know everyone wants. Ut at what cost? I highly doubt they can play with lore the way Bioware does, and many dragon age fans like the series because of the lore. It doesn’t matter what direction it is taken, an unfortunate group will be alienated.

RaidenBlack192d ago

@Armaggedon
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 were developed by Bioware.
& BioWare described Dragon Age: Origins as a "dark heroic fantasy" and a spiritual successor to their previous Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights franchises.
And you think Larian won't be able to play with DA lore after BG3?

MrDead193d ago

They've really done good work here, after ME:A and Anthem I was worried.

Glad to see the game is getting such high praise. Consensus is, this game is awesome.

Glad they didn't change the art style. This is looking good.. Why did they change the way the characters look anyway? The very first style was kind of ok, it was fine by Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse.. both in game sprite and the dialogue popups, why keep changing it? I am not as fussed on her newer look. She's looking kinda too dark or sunburnt now.

well, the switch 2 has two holidays in the us, thanksgiving and Christmas.

so id say its fairly possible. the rest of the world will also grab them

Abriael3d ago

Yeah doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility as long as they have enough supply.

Si-Fly3d ago

Do people buy each other games consoles for Thanksgiving? I’m in Europe and always assumed it was just Christmas where gifts were exchanged.

Skate-AK3d ago

I don't think it's so much Thanksgiving, but that Black Friday is the day after.

darthv723d ago (Edited 3d ago )

That time is often referred to as the start of the Xmas shopping season. For the last few years, retailers would do 'black Friday' deals at various times throughout the year. While many still prefer to start their shopping in the mid to late November, others will just buy when they feel the time (and prices) are right for them.

gold_drake2d ago

i guess its more black friday, should have been more clear ha

Thanksgiving kicks off the Christmas Holiday.

Switch and Switch are a different kettle of fish. A sell out at launch by the diehards, strong sales, then the non diehards will be put off by the £75 ($99) games, including the stupid download cards which are topping £65 ($85). Not rocket science to work out how the Switch 2 is going to pan out. The PS5 has sold well, but games at £70, sales have been low. As game sales drop, prices will rise. Sony could knock out all their games for £40 and still make a killing selling more games. There's no denying that a gaming crash is looming.

Rancegamerx3d ago

I agree, I don't see the Switch 2 selling anywhere near the numbers that these predictions suggest or what the general buzz is implying. While the initial sales will likely be strong, driven by diehard fans, I anticipate a gradual decline. It may not drop off immediately, but over time, sales will inevitably taper.

PRIMORDUS3d ago

Not paying for something that's not worth more than the price it was advertised, which is $449 - $499.
