"For instance, Quality Mode benefits from more than a 30 percent increase in FPS, delivering smoother, more fluid gameplay. Additionally, Performance Mode now supports full native 4K resolution, allowing players to enjoy stunning visuals without sacrificing responsiveness,"

So apparently at the moment the PS5 Pro can´t handle Quality mode at 60fps for LoP, a UE4-powered game. 30%? More likely 40fps on quality mode. Hopefully uncapped so the game might benefit from VRR compatible TVs and monitors.

"Full native 4K resolution" for Performance mode? More likely 4K upscaling via PSSR.

I´m curious to see what Game Science has in store for UE5 powered games like their BMW on PS5 Pro. I´m expecting a performance more akin to PC quality this time around.

If they are Upscaling they would have said so about Performance mode...if they said Native it's native thy can't lie about that

The thing is This console sole reason is to deliver quality mode at 60fps but not on all games as it depends ....where they can't do much in quality mode and add some more Ray Tracing or up the Image quality in Performance mode by PSSR and call it a day

It's not a main console so it won't get the same focus as the main Ps5

"If they are Upscaling they would have said so about Performance mode...if they said Native it's native thy can't lie about that"

I´m not saying they´re lying. They´re Korean developers. Non western developers get their statements bad translated or misinterpreted very often.

That said, LoP does feature a proper quality mode, and its performance mode takes a hit on visual features, like ambient occlusion, shadows and volumetric fog. So it´s definitely possible for the Pro achieve native 4K on its performance mode.

You´re correct. Not every game will feature quality mode at 60fps. That would be ideal, but Sony isn´t forcing it on developers. They´re free to do the Pro enhancements they see fit for their games.

"More likely 4K upscaling via PSSR."

You do realize this is how DLSS actually works right? DLSS takes a lower res and turns it into 4k...but with hardware ai doing the work to make it nearly indistinguishable from native...just like PSSR does at an earlier stage of development/training.

@mkis007

"You do realize this is how DLSS actually works right?"

I do. But thanks for your input anyway.

Then why point it out as a dig? Literally reads like grasping for something negative.

If they say it's native. It's native. There's no need to lie about that and make themselves look like idiots. Given it only dropped to 1512p on the base PS5 and it's a GPU based game. It's native.

ZycoFox197d ago

You mean like how they first had 8k on the box and then removed it? Because it was marketing BS that people lap up without doing their own research first

andy85197d ago (Edited 197d ago )

@number1tailzfan that has literally nothing to do with it. That was Sony saying that not the developer of the game. I think they know how their game us running 😂😂. Also, again, it's on developers to do an 8K mode. Sony said the capabilities of the console. If someone made an 8K game, it'd run it. But no one made one

Athlon101197d ago

Technically, there's one PS5 game that natively supports 8K 60 FPS called The Touryst which came out in 2021. It's not graphicly impressive compared to the likes God of War: Ragnarök but is impressive none the less given it's specs. It reminds me of 3D Dot Game Heroes

tinchotin197d ago

Looks like they are not using PSSR. Just the additional gpu power. Maybe they dont want to invest time implementing PSSR.

Lies of P's Overture DLC Could Be Taking the Shadow of the Erdtree Approach

The upcoming Overture DLC for Lies of P sounds like a game unto itself, not unlike FromSoftware’s recent massive Elden Ring add-on.

So excited for this. Lies of P is in my top 3 souls games and that is including games made by FromSoft

Elden Ring
Dark Souls 3
Lies of P
Bloodborne

Keep telling myself I’m gonna go back and grab the platinum in Lies of P before the DLC but there are an unreasonable amount of incredible games releasing this year lol

toxic-inferno39d ago

I really enjoyed going for the Lies of P platinum. It felt like less of a grind than most of the FromSoft Soulsbourne games. Highly recommend it.

But yes, too many great games for sure!

GenoPurpel39d ago

I unfortunately accidentally missed the last step for one of the quest lines for the last gold record I need and it was right near the end of the game.. so I will have to do a third playthrough and I’m procrastinating it but hope to do it again before the DLC lol

gold_drake38d ago

Played pretty much all the big souls games out there and ”all” from soft titles but didn’t enjoy the demo of lies of P. Does the game get a lot better (mostly environment wise)?

gold_drake38d ago

Lies of P DLC Set for Release in Q1 2025, Round 8 Next Project Is a Survival-Horror Game

The Lies of P DLC is targeted for release in Q1 2025, as the dev team's next project has been confirmed to be a survival-horror game.

It is not often when you see a DLC for a game that released over a year ago and won’t drop closer to 2 years after release. I still haven’t played the game. I own it now but I haven’t got to it yet. Soon though

jznrpg39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

I beat the games several endings now and got the platinum. That last boss for real ending was a mofo. Great game!
