PS5 Pro Like Upgrading From an RTX 3060 to an RTX 4070; PSSR Can Improve Ray Tracing Quality

Upgrading from the base model to the PlayStation 5 Pro feels like upgrading from an RTX 3060 or 3060 Ti to an RTX 4070 GPU, allowing users to access visual features that were previously not available.

except it's AMD based, so it's not really at all :P /s

Eonjay235d ago

Whats funny here is that the most common GPU, last time I checked, was the 3060. This means that most common PC gamers are gaming with PS5 level hardware. Actually, the 4070 is still the closest card to the PRO because AMD doesn't offer a card with the same level of raytracing nor does it offer a proper DLSS competitor as of yet.

Neonridr235d ago

yeah I use a 3080 on my PC currently.

just_looken235d ago

I say the pro is on par with the 6800xt ish with there new pssr tech that is trying to be like dlss but it will never be like it team green has been in the ai game for far longer.

The 3060 also is a real graphics card with 12gb of vram not ram shared with the rest of the computer like how the ps5 apu runs.

A apu will never be better and or equal than dedicated hardware that came out the same generation that is just a fact.

@Neonridr

I sold my 3080 10gb vram 4k :( sucked but got a 6750 in the bedroom 4090 man screen and messing with a all intel rig atm.

If you are into non 4k the 3080 12gb model is awesome with good prices on the used market yes it can do 4k i did on non max settings its just dat vram on certain titles.

"Trying to be like DLSS but it will never be like it"

This is their first itineration of it and they've got pretty close against something that's been in development over 6 years. You talk about copium..seems like you're the only one with it.

DustMan234d ago

Also to add that the 3060 cost $330. A bit less than a ps5.

BLow234d ago

No sense of wasting your time. This is coming from DF as well. We all know if this was a different piece of plastic, these same people would be saying something completely different.

Then we have people comparing prices of THE GRAPHICS CARD alone to an ENTIRE system with is insane. Well this card is cheaper than the system so it better.

We need all of you to build these magical PCs with all these thrift store parts and run some comparisons. These need to be your main gaming rigs as well. Let's see how they perform and how long they last.

What a sad time to be a gamer. We have so many on here that just want to suck all the fun and enjoyment out of it and it's sad. You have people telling you not to buy something that you will enjoy for hundreds if not thousands of hours. Telling YOU, it's not worth it. Insane.

Then in the same breath, tell you to go over here and spend more money on something I want you to buy that I think is better but I wouldn't actually build for myself. Insane.

Right not to mention we are talking about a glorified IGPU/APU with a cpu from 2019 being the same performance as a $600 gpu that just came out in the past year?

https://www.amazon.com/GIGA...

Man the copium on that pro is high everyone wants unoptimized games so the AI with upscale the 720i native resolution now we are talking like have a 5 year old cpu is great?

Einhander1972234d ago (Edited 234d ago )

What are you going to do with a $600 card, look at the box?

Cause that thing isn't going to process a single pixel on its own.

just_looken234d ago (Edited 234d ago )

@Einhander1972

Oh my so smart wow super star right here folks

Hey smarty you just proved my point because you think a APU just magically works or you think a $600 graphics card is inside a $500 ps5.

Users like you i know would scream and jump out a window if you ever played native 4k 120fps on a gaming pc it would be too scary for you.

That $600 card i would toss it into a used pc rig you can get for around $400 and oh look ps5 pro price but it is a gaming pc that has way more flexibility/user upgrades and lifespan.

This pc just sold $400 usd better cpu than the pro but the same ram as a ps5 toss it that 40series card you got a way better version of the ps5 pro
https://www.ebay.com/itm/18...

But i know you believe that the pro is running games native at 8k 60fps its a gods gift to humanity.

Einhander1972234d ago

You post some --->USED<--- garbage PC on ebay with a 1tb gen 3 ssd, slow ram and a bunch of garbage parts like a USED AIO liquid cooler (you'd have to be an idiot to buy a used AIO) and apparently not even a keyboard and mouse much less a PS5 controller and have no warranty. Then tell me I still need to add a $600 GPU so I can have an ultimately still inferior gaming experience.

Dude, just shut up...

just_looken234d ago

@Einhander1972

I posted a example one of many

But on this site everyone think's a closed box is god

I wont shut up because i speak truth you will never ever get the ps5 pro to do as much as a thousand dollar pc and the lifespan will always be longer.

you also point out "slower ram" Bro the ps5 has no dedicated ram is shared with the gpu you also can upgrade the pc duh.

The lack of keyboard/mouse for real? that is $30 at most a controller for real? wow

You sell the gpu the pc has for $100 and get all that.

But no on here everyone thinks pc's are scary evil machines that are weaker than a console that uses mobile parts with 0 upgrades anti repair. Oh you can upgrade the second storage BFD.

Please show me a custom 1k pc or even a new gaming pc doing less than your ps5 pro.

Heck four second's found brand new am5 gaming pc for $800 usd take the 200 out of thousand dollar usd budget you can sell the gpu get a old 90 series or get a good amd card together.
https://www.microcenter.com...

But i know i will get mass down votes sense that pc has no PS logo the get picked apart

Einhander1972234d ago

More garbage.

$800, no warranty, a 512 pcie ssd, a 6 core cpu, no keyboard or mouse, no controller an inferior 8gb GPU no sound card.

Keep posting these, so I can keep pointing out that PS5 Pro is the best dollar for dollar value for gaming.

For real shouldve said 6800 to a 4070

DivineHand125235d ago

These comparisons are insane. How can the base PS5 be comparable to an Rtx 3060 when the Nvidia card has DLSS and better ray tracing.

In a more realistic world, the PS5 should be compared to the RX 5700. Therefore the PS5 pro will be comparable to the Rx 7700 xt. There is no way AMD is going to make a console GPU superior to their desktop GPU counterpart when they are actively trying to compete with NVidia for market share. This is based on theoretical performance because the desktop counterpart will have more watts available to it. The RX 7700 xt does have AI cores on them but I am not sure if they are being utilized for gaming. I suspect when FSR 4 gets released, the 7000 series GPUs may get some support.

Einhander1972234d ago

PSSR isn't that far off DLSS, and PS5 Pro has RDNA 4 RT, it's not only adding RT its full RT not just simple 1/4 res reflections and shadows like PS5 and SX are doing.

Whitey2k234d ago

Ps5 pro will be like a 7700xt and will give 7800xt a run for its money due to pssr and rt features that's not on the 7800xt

PRIMORDUS234d ago

Exactly lets call it a 7750 XT,😁

Activision says gross Call of Duty loadout screen ads were only a test that was added “in error”

Call of Duty added in-game ads to the Black Ops 6 loadout screen, but Activision is claiming the gross update was added by mistake.

-Foxtrot1d 1h ago

Didn’t Ubisoft use this excuse a while back when they did something similar?

Christopher1d 1h ago

It's amazing how many companies are open with their inability to properly manage software releases while at the same time revealing they have designs developed and ready for full release to do things they know will annoy gamers.

Tacoboto22h ago

Microsoft has certainly used that excuse in at least 2-3 Windows updates over the recent years over ads in the Start Menu or something like that

isarai22h ago

🤣 bro how many times are we gonna hear this excuse just for it to show up again later

gold_drake21h ago

"oh so sooowy, we wanted to do iiit, but obviously not launch it yet, so its totally not our fault, it was fully functional tho lolzzzz"

Neonridr2h ago

I'm sure these were only by "accident" after the uproar.
