good launch game for PS5 Pro

Lightning77239d ago

You don't find it a bit strange the native PS5 version is performing worse than the PS4 back compact version?

Grilla239d ago

It’s running at a lower resolution. The game is gpu bound. Not really surprising.

andy85239d ago

Given the power difference even if it was running at 1080 compared to 4K this shouldn't happen 😂

Elden Ring

Babadook7238d ago (Edited 238d ago )

It's not strange for the lower settings version to have better performance (on the same hardware). It is strange for developers to keep it that way without optimizing the PS5 version into a more stable condition. Elden Ring had the same issue.

jwillj2k4238d ago

The PS4 version is the lesser version. How does it not make sense??

Einhander1972238d ago (Edited 238d ago )

At least PlayStation allows you to play the PS4 version, unlike xbox because dumb delivery forces you to play the sx version.

"The frame rate in the Xbox Series S version drops all the way down into the 30s. Meanwhile, the native Xbox Series X versions of the game can drop into the 40s"

Pyrofire95238d ago

They must have not picked very optimal settings in comparison, same thing happened with Elden Ring. So running at the lower settings of the PS4 it runs better on 5.

Yes let's fix every game developers didn't bother to optimise and didn't even fix yet by buying another 700+$ for marginal upgrades /s

And people still asking why this gen is so bad.

PS5... best console to play PS4 games

Gamingsince1981239d ago

It probably would be, it makes sense, a pc game from 2004 would most likely be better played on a pc from 2010

SimpleDad239d ago

No, no, no... This is a PS5 game released yesterday, not in 2004.

raWfodog238d ago (Edited 238d ago )

@SimpleDad

Actually it's a PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows game. But this doesn't surprise me as this means that the game likely isn't optimized for each individual platform.

Christopher238d ago

I mean, most games are still cross-gen. Pretty sure the best place to play Xbox One games are on Series X as well.

SimpleDad238d ago

Guys, guys you're missing the point here... This is a PS4/5 game released yesterday that runs worse as a PS5 version.

And btw it's not the only one.

@SimpleDad

Always has been.

andy85239d ago

Looking forward to this. Managed to get it for £37 too. Not bad for a day one

aaronaton239d ago

Do they share the same resolution? Do they share the same graphical fidelity?

Pyrofire95238d ago

No, PS4 settings are definitely cut down.

I hadn't played Metaphor until it was on GamePass and I can tell you I vastly prefer Clair Obscur. That said, I have never been a big fan of the Persona games.

andy8520h ago

Same tbh. I love persona but Metaphor felt dated to me personally. Expedition 33 definitely felt fresh.

CrimsonWing6920h ago

I could not get into Metaphor, whatsoever and I’m a huge Persona fan. I feel like Metaphor is incredibly overrated, but… and I know this is blasphemy, but I think Clair Obscur is slightly overrated as well.

I think that was on me though because everyone said it was the best thing since sliced bread and when I fired it up, I thought it was ok. I’d take Yakuza Like a Dragon, FF7 Remake/Rebirth, and Persona over it… heck I actually think Lost Odyssey is better. But to each their own.

RavenWolfx20h ago

Lost Odyssey is pretty underrated. Clair Obscur felt like a combo of Lost Odyssey, Legend of Dragoon, and some Shadow Hearts: Covenant, all amazing games that I love.

franwex16h ago

Yeah. Expedition 33 is a bit overrated. It’s cool to have a turn base RPG with a good story, I’m grateful. But it seems that the people that are more impressed don’t really play RPGs and see it as fresh air.

Armaggedon7h ago

Yeah, I think they are overrated as well, based on how highly people lift them up. People hoist clair obscur up as if it is a 15/10 game.

gurp20h ago(Edited 20h ago)

I love all of the persona games, but I cannot get into Metaphor for some reason, I am trying to play it
Clair Obscur is good, but I do not like the battle system, both Metaphor and Clair have great stories
I just finished Clair yesterday
Both Metaphor and Clair are very slightly overrated

GhostScholar18h ago

People seemed to love metaphor before it came to game pass. Odd.

Levii_9218h ago

I personaly really disliked ReFantazio, couldn’t get into it and i loved P5 back in the day. Clair Obscur is much, much better IMO. It cuts all the nonsense and bloat, focuses on fun, it’s much more intuitive, waaaay more focused and much better paced and it doesn’t have incoherent anime nonsense. And i found Refantazio take on the racism and classism to be very shallow. So no i don’t agree that they are two sides of the same coin.. i mean why? Just because they’re both turn based games? Get out of here with that.

pwnmaster300016h ago(Edited 16h ago)

For me it was like demon souls to blood Bourne.
I know not the same game but it’s the best example for me.

Just like bloodborne, expedition 33 was faster and more fluid.
And metaphor, just like demon/dark souls, it’s much slower.

For me I like the faster pace combat.

There’s a Demand for Original Games (Just Not Live Service Slop)

The success of numerous original titles and the failure of several live service games demonstrate a strong demand for story-driven experiences.
