It's not strange for the lower settings version to have better performance (on the same hardware). It is strange for developers to keep it that way without optimizing the PS5 version into a more stable condition. Elden Ring had the same issue.

At least PlayStation allows you to play the PS4 version, unlike xbox because dumb delivery forces you to play the sx version.

They must have not picked very optimal settings in comparison, same thing happened with Elden Ring. So running at the lower settings of the PS4 it runs better on 5.

Actually it's a PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows game. But this doesn't surprise me as this means that the game likely isn't optimized for each individual platform.

I did that as well. And i wanted to get a physical ps4 Metaphor for the locked 60fps but they just made physical for PS5. At least in canada.

Huh, there's a PS4 version here in Asia. Was gonna preorder that version but I've played the PC version demo on my Ally and it's good enough for turn based game, so portable mode it is for me.

Don't most PS4 versions of a game offer better performance than the PS5 native version? You're literally choosing low resolution and effects over higher res and more recent technology.

Not if its optimised properly.
Horizon Forbidden West, or Spiderman on PS5, for example have higher quality assets and run at a higher resolution at 60fps modes compared to the PS4 versions that run at 30fps.

This is clearly an optimisation issue. The fact that there are other games which are graphically better and run at a higher framerate, screams bad optimisation.
