I had the Pro on my Best Buy Cart, don't know, could not convince myself to do it, I mean, unless this generation lasts 3+ more years maybe, but I think probably 2026 we will see the PS6, I'd rather wait for that. Would not have time to "amortize" the purchase, and I know I will be buying Ps6 day one

No way PS6 is coming out in 2026 because they just sign a deal on the CPU with AMD. It's going to take 2 years of R & D and colib with AMD on the console (performance, power consumption, GPU, software, etc) Then another year for protoyping, testing, sending out kits to devs so I'd say late 2027 earliest, late 2028 is the targeted timeline.

The vast majority who are buying a pro already have a PS5 and are upgrading. Doubt many are paying 700 if they aren't that interested in PS to not have one after 4 years

I was interested and didn't have a PS5. The game library this gen has hardly been compelling but by this time in the generation at least a few games have come out for it, so it would seem like more of a worthwhile investment rather than being an early adopter and living off scraps and remasters. A bit more performance would have been nice too. But yeah I agree, that price tag scared me off.

As it is the base disk PS5 discounted to what it is is still quite a lot of money for something that I can only think of 2 games I want to play on it. It's not about being able to afford it, it's about being able to justify it. I get that other people have different goal posts for justification but I very much doubt I'm alone in whatever demographic I fall in. Still, if Sony has managed to sell me a PS5 regardless of whether I'm satisfied with their price decisions then that's a win for them I suppose.

Not at all. Why would Gamestop make a Pro member by a warranty when the console comes with a Sony year warranty, though you can buy an additional added on Gamestop warranty but that's an option, it's not mandatory. The employees or an employee at that Gamestop your friend pre-ordered at may be scamming.

Pc dudes have been all over this ps5pro story since it was announced. Now they're telling people to buy the slim instead as if they have the same tech accept one is slimmer, lol. These same weirdos will be telling people to buy the new 50 series cards from Nvidia that will cost 2.5 times as much as ps5pro.

I have a slim I am sticking to the slim I upgraded my fat PS5 to a slim. I can't afford a PS5 Pro if there are people out there who can good for them have fun with the console.

I'll be using my pre-ordered PS5 Pro until the release of the PS6 Pro. That's going to be around 7-9 from now, which is a lot of years I'll be enjoying enhanced framerates and fidelity. Why would I want to stick with the standard PS5 for another 7-9 years?

Yes, exactly. Cross gen support will be 4 years minimum (but likely longer).

Consoles generations are also getting longer. So 5 Pro will see plenty of support since Sony mandates all games to make use of the 5 Pro.

I'm not getting a Pro and I have owned every Sony console since the PS1. My reasoning is I dont really care about frame rates, I cannot justify spending that money on a console on which games will play on the OG PS5 in any case. So thats my personal reasons but whoever chooses to get good for them.
I will wait for the PS6 but even then I'm only going to buy into the next gerneration a year or so in based on what happened to cross generation releases this generation.

Why would it sell out? The PS4 Pro didn't sell out the entire last gen. It sold to about 20% of users and was considered a success. Its a niche product. There is no pandemic, so no componet restriction so they can make plenty of them and avoid scalping. How is that a bad look?

No, my launch PS5 will last me the rest of the gen after which I will buy the PS6 and experience more of a 'wow' factor.....but that's just me.

I am waiting till end of winter ,early spring to upgrade from my PS4, to a PS5 pro.
