Metaphor: ReFantazio Review - IGN

There’s a certain familiarity in Metaphor: ReFantazio, but Atlus takes the principles of its already excellent RPGs and refines them in a way that effortlessly ushers you through its brutal, and sometimes beautiful, new fantasy world. The Archetype system and all the new wrinkles it added to the turn-based battles build upon a strong foundation, and the social elements are streamlined to better deliver the most important aspects of the stories they tell.

Atlus at the top of Thier game this studio and from soft never let me down. Looks like silent hill and diablo gonna have to wait this will be all I'm playing

MrNinosan212d ago

You have time to do Silent Hill 3 in between ☺️

Eonjay212d ago

I think even IGN realizes they have to maintain some sense of legitimacy.

TheColbertinator212d ago

They've been around longer than most. IGN is full of problems but business wise they are somewhat savvy.

Flewid638209d ago

Sure. Gamers of course conveniently moving the goal post everyday. 😆

stupidusername211d ago (Edited 211d ago )

IGN is a huge media corporation with many individual opinions. Your bound to both agree and disagree with them, because that’s how different opinions work. They also diagree with each other inside IGN
Comparing IGN scores and calling out IGN for being ignorant without looking at the individual reviewer don’t make sense.

FinalFantasyFanatic211d ago

Pretty sure people are already overhyped for this, if IGN dunked on it and it was good, we'd have to burn what shredded tatters of their crediablity remain.

Flewid638209d ago

New goal post because "game appeals to me". Got it.

pwnmaster3000212d ago (Edited 212d ago )

I’m so ready for this.
I couldn’t get into PS3.l when I played it on game pass. I could be tired out of the whole school life but this is fresh setting for me.
Is this also a game pass release?

pwnmaster3000212d ago

Oh well, I wanted to play it before I buy it bought I just downloaded the demo on PS5

Not giving this a 10 is a travesty.

I have very mixed feelings about this game. It is not the GOTY i expected it to be for sure. It has too many mini games that break the rhythm..

andy8551d ago

No more than the original does really. A lot are completely optional too like the card game

Cacabunga51d ago

Card game in original FF? show me

CrimsonWing6951d ago

Break the rhythm? How many of those games were mandatory?

Cacabunga51d ago

Many.. costa del sol says hi. I just made it there it is painful AF

gold_drake51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

costa del sol has a max of literally 3 mini games that u need to play. every other mini game is optional and doesnt need to be won for the rest of the game (except the choco racing one)

im sorry that your attention span is so fragile that u need action 24/7

andy8551d ago

Where did you get that from what I said. I said the card game is optional.

Just ended chapter 13 & boy it has some emotional content. The game is very good & award deserving.

It was my GotY. Heck it’s one of the best games I’ve played in a while, period.

Look at sales from big western studios like EA and Ubisoft they are building their games for "modern audiences" who are not interested in actually paying for them. Then crying foul when sales inevitably don't meet expectations.

Sega builds games the way they want to look at rgg yeah we want to build a pirate Yakuza game. Sega board thumbs up.

I'm thrilled to see a Sega revival of late I think their leadership has the right attitude again

jznrpg69d ago

There have always been great Japanese games even if reviewers didn’t respond favorably to them. There was less investment in them for the west during the PS3 gen for whatever reasons but even then there was some great games.
