I'll wait until they patch in the fun. $25 Black Friday Special.

Stuff like this is weird to me, “explore the Outer Rim with smoother gameplay and better performance.” Shouldn’t this have been in from the get-go and not some inclusion as if it’s an after thought add-on? it’s kind of gross, honestly.

This is why I wait for many of these types of games to get 'complete' editions released as they will contain all of the DLC and patches up to that point. Almost all of my first playthroughs are vastly improved versions of when they were first released, and that's why I believe I enjoy the games more than many of the early adopters.

Not when the devs and qa have to rush through the beta stage. Projects of these size need 6 months in beta, but i doubt they got more than 2. I don't know why, maybe funding of project was running out, marketing has already been placed and paid wordlwide, who knows. While Ubisoft seems a poster child for these kinds of problems, they had games which weren't that messy out of the gate (Far Cry 5, Valhalla).

Some publishers are surely better than others. Nintendo, Sony, FromSoftware might have their black spots but are overall reliable to deliver open world games without the need to make substantial improvements via post release patches.

I played through Outlaws last week and really enjoyed it, but yes it was also really rough around the edges. While I don't like to see it to fail like it did, it is necessary for future Ubisoft open world games to not cut corners any more. But I will replay Outlaws once all dlcs and patches have been dropped for sure.

Six months of playtesting is not enough.

I met a Saint's Row developer who worked on part 1 for Xbox 360, and he said that they spent a full year in beta and QA stage.

Games are larger and more complex than ever before, and they require up to two years of QA, but publishers don't want to spent that much money, which is why games are releasing incomplete more and more with each passing generation. They're still only funding QA amount for games complexity from 15 years ago.

Its not uncommon in development for performance to be handled as an afterthought. Having a stable build that is less buggy comes before that.

Michiel1989244d ago

how the hell are we at 1.2 already? the game just came out

smolinsk244d ago

Because the game needed it bad.

Tacoboto244d ago

... We're not at 1.2 yet, that's just what they're calling the update.

If you RTA you'd see that.

should’ve been named Pirate’s Booty

beerhound19d ago

But then this guy would've made an obscure Spin Doctor's reference, and no one wants that.

Have fun storming the castle.

@babadivad it means you wont find the Princess here.

thorstein18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

OMG,
I am quoting Toy Story because Baba doesn't know art: the Princess Bride quote from beerhound.

It isn't inappropriate. It's movie quotes.

If it's distributed on a key card, then they're not getting my money!

Tacoboto21d ago

You already know it is and they weren't getting your money anyway

QuantumMechanic21d ago

I like Star Wars games. I would have bought it if they gave it a proper physical release.

ZeekQuattro21d ago

I don't why people feel the need to even say it. Plus the PS5 and Series versions are basically the equivalent of keycards as you need internet to download the rest of the game anyway to be able to play. 😆

QuantumMechanic21d ago

For example, I bought the PS4 version (full build on disc) of Jedi Survivor, released a year-and-a-half after the gimped PS5 physical release (key disc).

If you’re so close to release and already perfectly optimised why haven’t we seen any of it in action. It all seems very strange even releasing comments of the scepticism of it even being able to run on the switch 2 while still not showing anything… and offering the whole package at standard price… something doesn’t add up. Just show images or videos and quiet all the naysayers down or quit with the BS.

Star Wars Outlaws review - ChristCenteredGamer

CCG writes - "Star Wars Outlaws is fun, kept me engaged for about 90 hours, and Kay is a fun character to explore four fairly large environments with. It does a good job of faithfully representing the Star Wars galaxy far far away and stays mostly true to the lore and established characters. There are tie-ins to several of the movies and shows such as Solo and The Empire Strikes Back. If you like Star Wars and you can overlook the subtle and unnecessary woke expressions, then you'll likely enjoy the game. In my humble opinion Outlaws is over-priced at $70 for the standard game, so you may want to wait for a sale."

More like a 2.8. Fixed.
