Nintendo is famously protective of its intellectual property and has a history of suing content creators who it feels have overstepped the mark (it isn't shy about suing slightly bigger fish, either).
However, its latest move feels particularly heavy-handed, as it has issued a copyright strike against a YouTube channel that reviews emulation handhelds.
Ilari Kuittinen and Gregory Louden of Returnal developer Housemarque have revealed during an interview with Eurogamer at the studio’s 30th anniversary event last week that it has no plans to develop live-service or free-to-play games, “as long as people are buying premium games.”
A variety of new updates are available this month across the gaming platforms. Coming today, Retro Classics games are available to play for Xbox Game Pass members. Players who stream on the Xbox app on PC now have an additional streaming option with GeForce Now. Game Bar introduces quick settings, visual updates for Widgets in Compact Mode, and coming soon, Microsoft Edge Game Assist, an in-game browser that brings an immersive game-centric experience to Edge. And Xbox gift cards can now be redeemed for any amount via Xbox Rewards.
While i appreciate the gesture.... all of these retro classics have been made available everywhere else. I am hoping to see some other Activision properties make their way out of the shackles of the 5th, 6th and 7th gen. Licensing be damned... bring back the Transformers Cybertron games.
Metaphor on Gamepass just announced! O.o
Seriously, this is the best generation of Xbox ever!!!
We can´t catch a freaking break from awesome games arriving all the time!!!
Koei Tecmo shares how Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment on Nintendo Switch 2 came together in the final Nintendo’s Creator’s Voice.
Nintendo is awesome
Dogs of the AMS...time they made a move.
Nintendo should see my ROM collection they would fall on the floor (maybe I can show them a pic on twitter LOL)
But really copyright laws need to change, big time. I don't see Nintendo going after torrent sites with their collections up for years, oh they can't, most are hosted in countries where they don't give a shit about copyright. The DMCA needs to be revoked. Nintendo does not get it. People will still buy their games no matter a fan remake, rom collections etc.
My sentiments towards Nintendo is now at an all time low. I was considering purchasing a switch 2 at launch but I will now pass. Why is this you ask?
Nintendo is using their position to ruin the gaming industry because of their greed.
They have patented gaming mechanics and are now taking companies to court. The idea of someone improving on an older idea and implementing it in their game is now at risk.
Nintendo has shut down not only the Yuzu emulator but as of today Ryujinx is now down putting an end or at best a pause on switch emulation. This puts game preservation at risk since Nintendo has a habit of shutting down their online stores after the next generation starts. We have seen this with the Wii, WiiU and 3DS stores.
Emulators exist for PlayStation and Xbox yet you never hear or see any action being taken by either company against the community.
It will take a long time for me to see Nintendo in a positive light from here on out and I will not be supporting them.
When is it enough for Nintendo? What's next going after people who stream a Nintendo game on Twitch or Youtube? I can understand by people hacking and emulation. But guess what it's on the internet you will never get rid of it. You get rid of a few sites a few more sites show up filling up those spaces. Copyright strike, shutdown emu sites, go to court, guess what that all costs money. And again it's on the internet you will never get rid of it no matter how much you try. Instead of wasting time money and effort get use to the fact. Concentrate that money effort and time on the Switch 2 and making it a great system. Nintendo needs to learn to take that stick out of their ass and realize that what ever is on the internet stays on the internet.
