No Mans Sky engine programmer says PS5 Pro "absolutely rocks"

This beautifully staged screenshot is a fair summary of how I feel tonight. Many of you have noticed that #NoMansSky is now marked as a #PS5Pro enhanced title on the PlayStation store - the only thing I’d like to say as an engine programmer who has been through all the PS iterations since PS1, is that this console absolutely rocks .

Rebel_Scum275d ago

lol a developer is always going to welcome more power.

jznrpg275d ago

Gamers won’t? There aren’t any gamers spending 4k on PCs they don’t want power. Gamers can’t spend another 200$ on console either for more power. Everyone plays on Atari 2600’s

Vits275d ago (Edited 275d ago )

Well, you've answered your own question. Gamers seeking real power will choose PCs over consoles. The whole point of a console is to offer good value, much like the PS4 Pro did last generation.

The PS5 Pro is not doing that. It's offering "console power", which is like tunning a Prius. While at the same time not offering the same level of value consoles are know for.

Einhander1972275d ago

Vits

You're lying to yourself and others, PS5 Pro has already shown that it's providing an experience you'll need to pay double + for if you go the PC route.

And it's a heck of a lot better value than a 2TB xbox for $600 with no hardware upgrades at all.

8bitAssassin275d ago (Edited 275d ago )

@Vits

No we seek real games and good ones at that. The gaming industry has been lead by consoles for over 30 plus years. It's always about the games, or people wouldn't port beg or be upset when a game doesn't come to their preferred platform. I'm not throwing shade. It's all about priorities in what you care about.

MDTunkown274d ago

It’s not just 200$. PS5 was released in 2020 and didn’t had single price cut. That’s mostly because Sony now has no competition thanks to Xbox’s losing all direction so Sony know it and can get away from overpricing their stuff.

Amplitude274d ago (Edited 274d ago )

@Einhander1972: My $900 laptop with a 4060M can outperform a PS5 Pro and does so portably.

Rebel_Scum274d ago

The article is talking about a developers opinion. As a dev I can relate. I’m not making any comment relating to people who play video games.

Good-Smurf274d ago

Most gamers do appreciate more power or else we'd be perfectly content playing nothing but primitive looking 2D games since the late 70s lol.

NotoriousWhiz274d ago

All these big budget realistic games cost too much and take way too much time to make. I still believe the Ps3/360 was the best gen for gaming in terms of the power it had, the amount of games it had, and the quality of games it had. Everyone chasing the biggest prettiest most reflective drops of water just spend way too much time on looks.

There is a balancing act between power, quality, and quantity and we have gone way too far on the side of power instead of quantity and quality.

PRIMORDUS274d ago

If he is talking about power, the PC was already there in front of him, if he wanted the best version of No Mans Sky. But I guess he doesn't lol.

Giga_Gaia275d ago

It's still not worth 700$ for the little improvements we're getting.

Baza275d ago

If I couldn’t afford it I’d convince myself it’s not worth it too

GamerRN275d ago

That's such a di@k thing to say...

Evan_Beezy274d ago

My only gripe is they’re not offering one from factory with the disc even for $750 yet show you they’d give u the package discount if they did like w the base. That’d atleast feel fair a comparable 1TB would be $650 then compared

mike32UK274d ago

I can easily afford it, it's not worth it for me either. Mostly because I know for a fact it's only being priced this high because they are thrashing Microsoft, I'm not getting it out of principle.

HansyJ274d ago

People who don’t do anything else with their lives but play video games like what seems yourself yeah I think it’s a worthy investment. If you enjoy the finer things in life and you don’t sit in front of your TV all day playing video games, then not worth it.

ironmonkey275d ago

Maybe not for some, but the pre orders are going nuts.

darthv72275d ago

Are they though? The anniversary stuff sure did, but regular pros... not selling out.

IRetrouk274d ago

Were they expected to sell out? Did the ps4 pro?

274d ago
TheKingKratos274d ago (Edited 274d ago )

No

The regular Pro is available as we speak right now... what was going nuts in the 30th anniversary pro and Slim and that was the scalpers too which why it's on eBay now for 5000$

MDTunkown274d ago

It’s probably mostly resellers trying to ride 2020 wave.

gold_drake274d ago

i mean, its not worth it to you.

but others want it

andy85274d ago

Do you say the same to people who upgrade from a 2070 card to a 4070 card?

Pyrofire95274d ago

little? now FF7R2 wont be a big ol' blur at 60fps, that's enough for me.

MetroidFREAK21275d ago

I think my OG launch PS5 absolutely rocks too

DaniMacYo275d ago

PS5 Pro is the reason so many were put into long ass cues when trying to purchase one. It’s popular and many want one. More proof those that were upset it didn’t come with extras so no buy but would buy if it came with drive and stand. So when people say the extra power is not worth the investment they are lying because they clearly want it.

darthv72275d ago

You left off "30th Anniversary" from the start of your comment.

Eonjay274d ago

I think the 30th anniversary edition was sold out in seconds so the long lines were really for the Pro. By about noon EST though the queues were alot shorter.

I’m actually looking forward to it even though I know the difference is negligible. I bought the PS4 Pro and the One X last gen and I’ll buy any and all “Pro” consoles this gen. I’m a gamer who likes the best “ even tho my PC has a 4070 because I’m waiting on next gen cards” .kind of a waste of money for me tbh since all in play on PS5 is. Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown lol.

buffig274d ago

Difference isnt negligible. In some cases, as was shown with F1, DF called it a generational leap

purple101274d ago

It was obvious that f1 needed more power, it did show an improvement, most show small improvement, but then again, the framrate you kinds have to feel the difference and seeing a comparison video doesn't really translate well.

new games coming I reckon we will see a bigger jump than applying the PRO upgrade to older games than probably were in development for 3-4byears before hand.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH274d ago

It’s definitely negligible and you’re smoking if you saw a generational leap lol. That’s pure coping.

No Man's Sky (Switch 2) - Hello Games' Classic Without Cuts Or Concessions | NintendoLife

"No Man's Sky - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition brings this excellent, constantly evolving space survival adventure to your new Nintendo console in fine style. This is an almost-perfect match for other versions of the game, barring some very minor hiccups here and there.

Combat is still a bit naff, especially in space, and hardcore pirates might not get all they need from the systems in place here, but other than that, this is an almost perfect port of an almighty behemoth of a game. The sky, it seems, really has no limits." - PJ O'Reilly | NintendoLife

I am tempted to get the switch 1 version.

OtterX19d ago

Do it! It's still on sale until next week, then score your free upgrade.

It's so nice being able to continue our save from other platforms while on the go. (For me, PS5, PC & VR) I'm headed out of town this weekend and I plan on taking it with me. :)

That's a nice little surprise.

Honestly I gotta hand it to Hello Games. They really turned this game into something else with their dedication to it. A rocky start, but the game is unrecognizable to what we had at launch.

MAN, Hello Games just keeps on trucking with this game, and are REALLY showing other developers how to earn some good will with their fans.

Stoked for Light No Fire.
