Ghost Of Yotei Moving On From Jin Sakai Seems Like The Right Decision

Ghost of Yotei is touted as a brand-new experience by Sucker Punch Productions, succeeding the legendary Ghost of Tsushima.

My time has come and gone. 🥷

You'll always stay a legend though!

You’ll be back…and in greater numbers

Jin will most likely be a mystic tale in the new game, there's a movie plus animated short being made and he will be a guest character somewhere.

You have years till he dissapears.

Rimeskeem249d ago

You have waited nearly 6 years to say that.

Absolutely worth it

Listen, at SP and Sony, about 30 people and (I hope) extensive focus group testing were involved in this decision. Something that did not happen with Sony's Concord management team.

neutralgamer1992249d ago

Sucker punch studios have had almost the same talent for a long long time. They are a much smaller team compared to other Sony studios. They are gamers themselves so please trust their judgement. If they felt Jin would have been better SP would do it

Sucker punch has been with Sony for decades and make awesome games. Please let’s not put them in the same box as UBI and their agendas or any other greedy studios

Crows90249d ago

It's not about trusting their judgement. You have to wait and see. If it was a bad choice like some believe we will find out.

I personally agree with creating this "ghost of" franchise. Much more versatile and exciting.

neutralgamer1992249d ago (Edited 249d ago )

Maybe I meant to say give them the benefit of the doubt regarding their judgment over some gamers on the internet just calling a game woke because it has a female protagonist. Like I said before SP are much different than most other Sony studios. They aren’t huge by any means. They expand very slowly and have key roles filled bu long time studio members

If they could decide the original JIN story than I believe they do deserve the benefit of the doubt. I personally wanted JIN to continue but I understand the fact they know where the story needs to go. And maybe one day we will get another game featuring JIN

Elda249d ago

I think it's the right direction. Making a fresh new time period & place with a new protagonist & story, somewhat what S-E does with it's Final Fantasy games. Keeping the Ghost games fresh & new.

I don't understand where this is coming from, they act like they failed in that department with the first game and that it was a massive issue for them when it reality they did so well on it a lot of Japanese devs praised it.

Are they scared western journalists are going to do the same thing they did for the first game where they don't outright say it but they give off the impression there's some sort of racist undertones with a game set in Japan being made by Western developers.

jznrpg18d ago

They literally went to Japan so where does western journalists come from?

Profchaos18d ago

It's not like they tried to pass off a half tori

senorfartcushion17d ago

Yeah but Assassin's Creed Shadows received a backlash.

Goodguy0118d ago

What? They did great with tsushima lol

Knushwood Butt18d ago

Well, you don't get a sea of pink sakura petals as shown in the thumbnail above.
I've literally been stood in an avenue of blossoming trees this week and, while you do get petals on the floor, it doesn't look like that. That thumbnail looks like someone spilled several cans of pink paint all over the floor.
I also took multiple photos.

Knushwood Butt18d ago

Furthermore, that size and number of trees would not produce that volume of petals.

Don't believe me? Come out here. I'm literally a 5 min drive from fantastic views of Youteizan. Cherry blossom is still in full swing but will be over in the next week.

anast18d ago

The AC Shadows fiasco has them quaking in their boots.

Inverno17d ago

I'd be worried too if a bunch of fat old pron addicted right wingers went around pretending to be outrage at the "historical inaccuracy" in my game. Fake outrage causes financial harm, tho I'm sure the usual suspects will be up in arms by the release to feel outrage about a female MC.

Tacoboto18d ago

The "we started again" quote doesn't exist on the PS Blog though...

anast18d ago

The writer doesn't have a story without that quote.

Tacoboto18d ago

And just like that N4G changed the source story to the official blog post

Killer2020UK17d ago

So, without the benefit of seeing the initial article, did the writer misrepresent or make stuff up that the above commenters reacted to believing it to be true?
