Listen, at SP and Sony, about 30 people and (I hope) extensive focus group testing were involved in this decision. Something that did not happen with Sony's Concord management team.

Sucker punch studios have had almost the same talent for a long long time. They are a much smaller team compared to other Sony studios. They are gamers themselves so please trust their judgement. If they felt Jin would have been better SP would do it

I personally agree with creating this "ghost of" franchise. Much more versatile and exciting.

Maybe I meant to say give them the benefit of the doubt regarding their judgment over some gamers on the internet just calling a game woke because it has a female protagonist. Like I said before SP are much different than most other Sony studios. They aren’t huge by any means. They expand very slowly and have key roles filled bu long time studio members

If they could decide the original JIN story than I believe they do deserve the benefit of the doubt. I personally wanted JIN to continue but I understand the fact they know where the story needs to go. And maybe one day we will get another game featuring JIN

I think it's the right direction. Making a fresh new time period & place with a new protagonist & story, somewhat what S-E does with it's Final Fantasy games. Keeping the Ghost games fresh & new.

The story of the ghost was about jin sakai he was a samurai who betrayed his way of honor to become the ghost in order to save his people from the mongols "the Ghost" was his story, you cant make another game without him and just use "the ghost of whatever" beside sounding stupid its ruining jin story there cannot be another ghost !! You did a different story Change the name!

Who's to say this isn't another "ghost"? Yotei in 1600s is Ainu's territories, if I have to guess the MC is an Ainu woman who forsakes her tribe's way of life and embracing Japan's way of fighting to get revenge or something. Or vice versa.

Well that's never happened ever. Even with changes to a protagonist of the same gender, changes to a protagonist voice actor, reboot to a protagonist. Raiden in MGS2, Nero in DMC4, Keifer in MGS5, Dante in DmC reboot....etc.

People are allowed to be disappointed at first. At least.

If the new protagonist was a bloke I doubt there'd have been a ripple of complaint or people pining after Jin Sakai. However I understand the complaints and to an extent agree with them in a general sense.

Having watched Blue Eye Samurai though there's definitely a legitimate case to be made for a badass female samurai being a great main character.

I still haven't completed Ghost of Tsushima. I made the horrible mistake of doing every side mission, chasing every fox and secret along the way. This caused burnout and I moved on to another game.

The last thing I remember doing is hunting down some legendary armor set.

Feels like the move Resident Evil should’ve done for RE2. Different situation and different monsters. Create a new mystery/narrative rather than do more of the same.

Honestly I would have liked a another game with Jin. But I totally get that they went through his story since he was a child and that a new character in a new location gives you much more to work with. I’m not disappointed they didn’t go with Jin because I have nothing to do with the direction of the game so I don’t feel any entitlement to decide who should be the character. I am happy that we are getting a new Ghost game

I don't know if it's the right decision but it's a risky decision for sure. You have a succesful franchise will a loved main character, any franchise in any genre, games books cinema etc, changing the main character is always going to be a high risk, just like if you change Neo in Matrix, Kratos in GoW, Vin Diesel in 2F2F, Lara in Tomb Raider, Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible etc. The game has to be truly outstanding for such a move to succeed, time will tell, because historically people don't take well losing the main character on any franchise.

Sucker Punch seems to do this after Infamous 2. They change the protagonist with every sequel. I am disappointed that the story of Jin wasn't followed on, but we get a new story to playout and they could always go back and forth with the way they have decided to go. So its a Win, win for me
