PlayStation 5 Pro Pre-Orders Went Live Today & Are Quickly Selling Out In Many Regions

The PlayStation 5 Pro is available for pre order and is selling out in many regions hours after going on sale

I was in the waiting room since 6am PDT and then when 7 rolled around... it said my wait time was over an hour. It was crazy but after the wait I was only able to get the 30th Edge, no slim or pro available. Regular ones sure... I did manage to get a 30th controller through Target since Wario64 on twitter posted direct links to various retailers who were also doing pre-orders.

i gotta say, my prediction on the prices (in NA) were pretty damn close. I was spot on about the Anniversary Slim and Pro being $499.99 and $999.99 respectively. Same with the controller at $79.99. I was off a bit on the Edge and Portal though.

Just putting a regular Pro in my cart along with an optical drive and seeing what the total would be (tax included) came out to $844. Yeah im going to wait on that, but i still got the disc drive for the eventual slim I plan on getting.

Just to be clear... regular pros are available to pre-order still on PS direct. Those are not going to sell out because they are not limited. They are going to be the regular offering like the slim. All these news outlets are conflating the demand for the anniversary items (which sold out) as thinking the regular pro is also selling out.

I will say this though, the whole queue system was being enforced for everyone regardless if they wanted an anniversary item or not. I even had to wait in the queue to check on an existing order that i placed a couple days ago. Once all the anniversary stuff sold out... they removed the queue so now anyone can go there at any time and order just about anything non anniversary or limited edition.

I am not sure why Darthv72 got a dislike because the regular PS5 Pro is still available. I just checked myself and it is still available. There wasn't even any queue.

I would get one myself but I need more assurances that it won't be just a handful of games utilizing the PS5 Pro's power.

Even if the Pro initially sells well. There's always people that'll buy the expensive thing even though it's too expensive. Just like people paying full price preordering anything. It's once the whales and are milked that we'll see what demand is like. It certainly won't live up to the PS4 Pro demand anyway.

Saying the ps5 pro is still readily available for preorder is like saying sony is selling gaming consoles to make money.the limited edition versions will quickly sell out because of the limited quantity available but I'm quite sure sony can have over 5 million or more regular ps5 pros ready to ship by the release date if it's possible to get that many preorders. Sony can sell as many ps5 pros as they want if there is demand for it. I would think only shops would run out of stock .

The hype for the ps5 pro is very high and I see a lot of people happily pre-ordering when they initially were upset about the price. I know a lot of people are still crying about the price but a lot more people will change their tune around launch time when they have a better understanding of the power and see others receiving theirs.

They're just temporarily unavailable. I guess they want to prevent scalpers from buying up the entire stock. Preorders have already reopened in some regions. Even if the initial stock sells out, they'll probably have many more waves before release and even if you can't get in on the pre-orders, I wouldn't worry too much. I doubt it's gonna be hard to get one when it launches.

I don't see a way the pro would outsell the base model. Think of the X v s and the s is outselling the X same as the PS4 v PS4 pro.

I don’t want Sony to go back to 2013. PS4 had great games, but man.. that console was so fucking weak on day one. I’m more than willing to pay a few extra bucks to get much better hardware that’s not outdated on release. PS5 had amazing specs when it released in 2020. I want them to continue that trend.

This was much easier to get than the PS5 at launch. As for that 30th Anniversary Pro; that's pretty much the hardest I've ever tried to get any consumer product and still failed. (Not paying $5000+ USD though)

There was a worldwide chip shortage for PS5 launch. This doesn’t have that massive problem. It took over a year for the chip shortage to lessen.

I expected it to sell but maybe not that well. But I’ll maintain it’s too expensive for me at that price point without the disc drive.

Appreciated mate, but I think affordability is a bit different from my central argument, just to be clear.

My argument was more about willingness to drop this kind of money on a dedicated gaming console. History says $500 is kind of the most one is willing to spend on a console, but that's been shattered, apparently. Phones are a bit more useful in terms of general utility, so I can see people paying a lot for phones (many as I can tell get them on contract so it's far less up front).

But that said, I was wrong. The backlash seemed palpable from the reveal.

The pro sold out in the uk by 12.30, having started selling at 10am. There were more added by 16.00, but they sold quickly and its remained sold out overnight. They will no doubt release more stock soon, but its clear initial sales in the UK are good.

Just pulled the trigger and preordered mine after contemplating about it (US). Few years ago, I wanted PS5 Pro to perform quality mode at 60FPS and that it what it's going to do. I also thought about the desperate people who paid $700+ for the PS5 during the holidays just 2 years ago so I figure $700 isn't so bad for the Pro.

Another thing I find to be amazing with PS5 Pro is that in certain games, it seems like it’s even outperforming the quality mode. Horizon and FF7R is two examples of that. I also didn’t expect 8K60 on GT7 lol

Everything in the world has gone up in price (especially tech) but for some reason people think consoles should stay at the same price point. 2000$+ 4090 graphics card doesn’t get hate articles and fury all over the internet but a 699$ console how could they!?! It’s 100$ more than the SeriesX 2TB. It’s a good deal the way I see it.

I lucked out up here in Canada. Best Buy was the only retailer who carried the 30th Pro, and they only had 150 units. Their website was already struggling due to the Slim and Edge controller going live, continually crashing and preventing people from purchasing.

I kept clicking try again over and over, waiting for the wheel to spin while it was trying to process my transaction. I never did get an Order Complete page or anything, but then suddenly I got an email from Best Buy saying that they have my order. Shows up in my order history as well.

I wasn't planning on getting a Pro, but that limited variant was just too good to pass up. Plus I did sort of want an Edge controller, so that being included was a nice bonus.

I was going for the slim... i'll just end up getting one 2nd hand like i did the 20th anniversary. That one I got for $400 a couple years ago. The 500m is the only pro im missing from the PS4 era.

I grabbed a slim from Walmart earlier in the day as a precaution. I will undoubtedly cancel it, but I don't want to trust that I actually have something that is so rare up here in Canada (Pro 30th). I almost want to wait until it's on my doorstep before I believe that BB won't screw me over somehow, LOL.

Goes to show it's not about money. Sony could easily have made a lot of these and made a TON OF MONEY! Selling the Dualsense alone would have been free money for PlayStation, but it's not about that. We all thought that was going to be PS5s big thing this gen, as well, was selling the cover plates and Sony, for a lot less cost, could have just sold the plastic plates and a plates and Dualsense bundle for all the fans, but they didn't. This isn't just some money making scheme. If PlayStation needed the money, this was a sure fire way to have gotten it. Just goes to show
