I was in the waiting room since 6am PDT and then when 7 rolled around... it said my wait time was over an hour. It was crazy but after the wait I was only able to get the 30th Edge, no slim or pro available. Regular ones sure... I did manage to get a 30th controller through Target since Wario64 on twitter posted direct links to various retailers who were also doing pre-orders.

i gotta say, my prediction on the prices (in NA) were pretty damn close. I was spot on about the Anniversary Slim and Pro being $499.99 and $999.99 respectively. Same with the controller at $79.99. I was off a bit on the Edge and Portal though.

Just putting a regular Pro in my cart along with an optical drive and seeing what the total would be (tax included) came out to $844. Yeah im going to wait on that, but i still got the disc drive for the eventual slim I plan on getting.

I thought the ps5 pro was DOA like a lot of poor naysayers said. Lol. I was able to get 2 on order but no 30th anniversary version

darthv72234d ago

Just to be clear... regular pros are available to pre-order still on PS direct. Those are not going to sell out because they are not limited. They are going to be the regular offering like the slim. All these news outlets are conflating the demand for the anniversary items (which sold out) as thinking the regular pro is also selling out.

I will say this though, the whole queue system was being enforced for everyone regardless if they wanted an anniversary item or not. I even had to wait in the queue to check on an existing order that i placed a couple days ago. Once all the anniversary stuff sold out... they removed the queue so now anyone can go there at any time and order just about anything non anniversary or limited edition.

Regular pro isn’t hard to get at retail on a pre order. It’s the 30th anniversary edition that’s selling out

DivineHand125234d ago

I am not sure why Darthv72 got a dislike because the regular PS5 Pro is still available. I just checked myself and it is still available. There wasn't even any queue.

I would get one myself but I need more assurances that it won't be just a handful of games utilizing the PS5 Pro's power.

CrimsonIdol234d ago

Even if the Pro initially sells well. There's always people that'll buy the expensive thing even though it's too expensive. Just like people paying full price preordering anything. It's once the whales and are milked that we'll see what demand is like. It certainly won't live up to the PS4 Pro demand anyway.

Saying the ps5 pro is still readily available for preorder is like saying sony is selling gaming consoles to make money.the limited edition versions will quickly sell out because of the limited quantity available but I'm quite sure sony can have over 5 million or more regular ps5 pros ready to ship by the release date if it's possible to get that many preorders. Sony can sell as many ps5 pros as they want if there is demand for it. I would think only shops would run out of stock .

The hype for the ps5 pro is very high and I see a lot of people happily pre-ordering when they initially were upset about the price. I know a lot of people are still crying about the price but a lot more people will change their tune around launch time when they have a better understanding of the power and see others receiving theirs.

I seem to remember this same talk with PSVR2. It sold well at launch to the enthusiasts who always must have the newest tech. And I don’t need to tell you how things turned out down the road.

Neonridr233d ago

limited edition stuff will always get people to click on the buy button.

TheEroica233d ago

Condolences. Ps5 pro is a waste of money.

I got the Pro at 1230pm Eastern no problem, and it was still available at 5pm

Tapani234d ago

Who cares about your predictions track record?

Are you expecting people to go "that guy darthv72, well, he was right! I've been tracking every word he has been saying I think I'm going to the N4G forums and write him a complementary comment because his price predictions were so good. What a great guy!"

I mean come on, who has time or interest for that sort of stuff?

LiViNgLeGaCY233d ago

Yeah, I thought that was pretty pathetic myself. Lol.

darthv72233d ago

I'll take what you said as a compliment... thanks.

Gwiz233d ago

Well your streak just started because you're right. :p

purple101233d ago

Was it $219 like I said?

It’s £209 in uk for limited edition. £10 more than normal. Although the normal can be found for less from online retailers compared to its rrp

darthv72233d ago

Yup... purple was right too.

Yep knew it, that was a easy call.

I am always right. I thought I was wrong once, but I was’nt, I was mistaken 🤔

TheEroica233d ago

Well yeah, they made a tiny amount of them. Even virtual boy sold out on the first shipment.

I_am_Batman234d ago

They're just temporarily unavailable. I guess they want to prevent scalpers from buying up the entire stock. Preorders have already reopened in some regions. Even if the initial stock sells out, they'll probably have many more waves before release and even if you can't get in on the pre-orders, I wouldn't worry too much. I doubt it's gonna be hard to get one when it launches.

Profchaos234d ago

In Australia pre-orders went live yesterday and consoles are still available at EB if anyone is looking.

Hideo Kojima is a little bummed as Death Stranding 2 is testing way better

"I'm not interested in appealing to the mass market, or selling millions of copies."

jznrpg10h ago

I’m replaying the first game it’s great. It’s not for everyone no doubt. There are still a lot of people playing it.

-Foxtrot10h ago

Then why do a sequel straight away?

Why not something else like maybe a horror game similar to Silent Hills but rebranded into a new IP.

Reverse psychology...ok I won't buy it then.

Eonjay1h ago

To be honest, he is in a great situation if he doesn't have to make a mass market product. Means he can make what he wants. I think that's great.

For some reason this reminds me of issues artist have brought up regarding AI 'art'. Where literally everything is sourced from other artists. Invluding AI art in games seems like a legal nightmare.

S2Killinit1h ago

If AI is left alone as a free platform similar to what we did with the internet, it wouldnt be an issue. But if we allow companies to patent parts of the i termet as theor own walled gardens, then yes, there would be patent wars and legal nightmare.

As to this, the title is misleading, the game’s art is not plagiarism, someone included a painting(s) that beloned to some artist, in the code.

Eonjay1h ago

Well, do you think companies should be able to include AI generated art in their game if the art is generated using the work from other people? Or should AI art be considered original and the source work be considered inspiration?

Ninver1h ago

Shut up and finish the game off. Hopefully it doesn't suck.
