I watched the video in 4k. Horizon Forbidden West and Demon's Souls were the standouts to me, they look quite beautiful and noticeably improved with more detail, are richer. My words are not enough to describe them - but compare them to the standard PS5 versions and you can see what PS5 Pro offers.

andy85260d ago

Forbidden west is the one for me. I remember getting up to 100 fps and it looked great. I bet we are looking at PSSR 4K/120 given how great the frame rate already was. That's absolutely being given another playthrough on my TV at some point

--Onilink--260d ago

What? The game is not even using PSSR, its their own internal stuff. And its still the same frame rate caps for all modes, did you even watch the video?

Cacabunga260d ago (Edited 260d ago )

Maybe getting one for Ghost 2 next year. I already played most games it improves. Hoping for more announcements

andy85259d ago

@onilink at that point I hadn't, so I assumed ha. It'll still be 120.

TheKingKratos260d ago

I don't get it ?!
Why the comments here are absolutely different from the comments on YT section?! This video actually confirmed that i and millions don't need that thing ... I watched in full 4K on my TV not on my phone to notice any difference and there is barely anything at all especially in those two games you mentioned

That video actually saved me from thinking of upgrading my Ps5 to Pro as i was considering it last night

If you have to slow down a video and stop it to 100% zoom in on hair and nose to notice a difference and again it's barley noticeable especially when comparison Fidelity mode with the pro mode i can't see anything at all

And many are saying the same but N4G bubble of course is in different zone completely but that video didn't do it for me at all.

Gamingsince1981260d ago

"Why the comments here are absolutely different from the comments on YT section?!"

Because this isn't youtube ......🤨 a lot of the comments on YouTube will be salty xbox fans , now that xbox is essentially dead, they want to negate the playstation success.

VenomUK260d ago

@TheKingKratos There's nothing wrong with you not wanting to get a PS5 Pro! The games are exactly the same as those on standard PS5. It's like the many people who are happy with their purchase of an Xbox Series S, just because the graphics on the Xbox Series X are better it doesn't mean they have to get it when the Series S is just fine for them.

It's so silly that all over the internet people are arguing about what other people's point of view should be!

If you think the graphics boost of the PS5 Pro is too inconsequential to merit a purchase - that's fine!
And if you want to pay the money to get the improvements the PS5 Pro delivers - that's fine too!
Just do what's right for you.

KwietStorm_BLM260d ago

Nobody needs it. But if you want it, get it. I know I am. The system very clearly marries the fidelity mode with the performance mode that people are used to. It's literally free perf. That's what so funny to me about people saying you don't see a difference.. it is literally performance on top of the the graphics mode. So no settling for janky 30fps. It's the reason different tiers of GPUs exist at any given time. But console gamers are just so voluntarily uneducated on how these things work, yet crying and whining at the same time.

Good-Smurf260d ago

Why folks like you still don't understand that this isn't a neccessary buy and you already answered your question.
You don't want it fine, just get over it and move on already.

CrimsonIdol260d ago

This place is largely for Sony fanboys. YT is what the general population thinks. Don't worry I thought the same. Pretty smart move by Sony though, they down-sold me to a PS5. Not so coincidentally it's on sale at the moment for under half the price of a PS5 Pro. I'll keep the extra to upgrade my PC when the time comes.

Nobody doubted that this thing wouldnt benefit existing games.... its how well it will deal with new games. And the base 5 still has yet to be pushed to its limits. And now with a Pro... it never will.

LucasRuinedChildhood260d ago

The PS4 was "pushed to its limits" with later games like TLOU2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 regardless of the PS4 Pro.

Bathyj260d ago

Exactly.
I'm getting the pro because I don't want to spend the next 4 years playing games on the base ps5 if there's a better option. Someone else doesn't want to that's fine. Just don't pretend there's no improvement because you don't want to pay for it.

Babadook7260d ago

"The PS4 was "pushed to its limits" with later games like TLOU2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 regardless of the PS4 Pro."

Yeah and Forbidden West looked amazing on the PS4.

Storm23260d ago

I love their point that even for people who don't get the PS5 Pro, you will benefit from it when you play back-compat mode on PS6. Just like how PS5 plays PS4 games with PS4 Pro settings, PS6 should do the same with PS5 games. But this looks better than I thought. Reconsidering...

I like what they showed. Looking forward to the Pro.

I mean, did anyone think the Switch 2 would be comparable to current-gen? Yea, I’m pretty sure it’s going to give you PS4 quality looking/playing games and in a couple years we’ll be onto PS6 and most third-party games will either be downgraded to hell or just not be available on Switch 2 🤷‍♂️.

Profchaos18h ago

I was never under any illusion it would compare to series s imagine the battery life

ABizzel117h ago(Edited 17h ago)

It’s doing exactly what I expected and what it needed to do base Xbox One settings in most games upscaled to 2x the resolution with DLSS when docked, and running with better performance. What more can you ask for out of a 10w - ~57w~ platform

Current-gen AAA Games (SX/PS5): 540p @ 30-40fps most games upscaled to 1080p @ 30-40fps
Last-gen AAA Games (XBO/PS4): 720p @ 30-60fps most games upscaled to 1440p @ 30-60fps
PS360/Switch AAA Games: 1080p @ 30-60fps most games upscaled to 1440p-4K @ 30-60fps
Rare cases the PS360/Switch games at 1080p@120fps games like Metroid

And that’s perfectly fine, except docked mode on AAA games could become fairly blurry on large 4K displays.

Babadook716h ago

Sorry, I disagree with this sentiment. The Switch 2 is a current gen machine and well above the PS4 Pro. It goes toe to toe with the Series S due to great DLSS and a modern architecture in many games. This game (Hogwarts Legacy) has always been the poorest example of what the Switch 2 can do and appears to simply be a bad port. Cyberpunk 2077 is on the other hand a great port.

OtterX19h ago

for a handheld it's quite nice, but don't go in expecting a serious console. Keep your PS5 and/or PC. You can tell a huge difference in those long distance shots w the foilage/grass. But again on an 8 inch screen, I bet it looks and plays decent enough.

Neonridr19h ago

the way I look at it, the PS4 Pro still had some gorgeous games. If I could have games that looked like TLOU2 on the system, would I really care about what it would look like on a PS5? No.

OtterX19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

Only on my 55" 4k do I care for that extra oomph. I would be blown away to have a game on par graphically w the PS4 Pro version of TLOU II on a handheld!

Grilla15h ago

Graphics are irrelevant if it’s not running at 60fps

anast15h ago

Switch 2 is around $450 to $700 depending on the country. Let that sink in. Get that nice '280p' Cyberpunk...

They are comparing the S to the PS4. HA!
