Deadlock PC Optimization Guide: Best Graphics Settings for Valve's Early Access Game

Deadlock is Valve’s latest MOBA game, still in early access but with one with close to 200K concurrent players. The game is invite-only and features a fresh gameplay blueprint. At the moment, a lot of the features are WIP, but it runs stably without any major bugs or crashes.

This is supposed to be the next big thing? It looks terrible.

TheNamelessOne217d ago

I've seen pretty much nothing but praise for it. I know I've enjoyed my time with it, though it hasn't been all that much time with it.

PRIMORDUS217d ago (Edited 217d ago )

This is the second time this guide made 2 mistakes. "Use the Windows “High Performance” power profile and set your GPU power management mode to the same." If your on AMD Ryzen you need only to use the balanced setting, but correct on setting the GPU to power management mode, if on Nvidia -Perfer Maximum Performance- "Overclock your GPU if you’re narrowly missing the 60 FPS mark." You do not need to do this, in fact you should undervolt and raise your core clock speed in games and see how stable it is. You will get much lower temps and better performance.

Shroud already convinced Valve’s Deadlock is going to “take over the world”

Shroud has jumped into Valve’s mysterious new game, Deadlock, and has quickly become convinced it’s the next big thing.

Goodguy01239d ago

Eh, he's paid to say stuff like that. All I see is it's another csgo/valorant clone.

porkChop239d ago

Dude. Shroud literally just launched his own FPS called Spectre Divide. He wouldn't say something like this if he didn't believe it.

ApocalypseShadow239d ago

He might know how to play certain games. But it's gamers that turn something into a hit. Not a bunch of "select" influencers and streamers.

Which is why I was for the death of E3. Companies wanted to turn it into an influencer, streamer party to try and push us into what to buy.

Course, I was never a follower and I'm always skeptical until I see something or play something for myself. Not because this "person" said so.

Michiel1989238d ago

@apocalypse which streamer hurt you?

porkChop238d ago

@Apocalypse

Why do you even respond when you clearly don't understand what you're talking about? None of what you just said is relevant.

First of all, Shroud isn't just some streamer. He is literally one of the best FPS gamers ever, and had a very successful eSports career before he ever started streaming. More importantly, him being a streamer or eSports competitor is not what I was talking about.

The guy just launched his own FPS. Deadlock is a new FPS from one of the biggest names in gaming, it's competition regardless of whether the games play similarly or not. So for him to openly say something like this about a competitor isn't just him being paid to say it, which is what Goodguy01 was saying. I'm not saying Shroud is right or wrong.

-Foxtrot239d ago

Also he’s not really someone who’s played a lot of different games in terms of variety to even come to that conclusion

lelo2play239d ago (Edited 239d ago )

Saw some gameplay videos of Deadlock... and quite frankly, the game looked like crap.
I'm getting too old for these types of games.

JEECE239d ago

So much for the "gamers don't want another hero shooter" narrative.

TheNamelessOne239d ago

Yup. Early Access and already has 90k players. Gamers just don't want certain hero shooters. I won't name names.

JEECE239d ago

It's crazy that the 2016 Battleborn/Overwatch situation has basically played out again in 2024 with Concord/Deadlock. Either way, the optimistic view that gamers were making some grand statement about being tired of multiplayer games in stale genres and rejecting GaaS as a concept has been totally undercut.

jib239d ago

It's the single-player stans saying this stuff

Dudeson239d ago

Nahhh, these days I'm mostly a single player stan and we have nothing to complain about, got stalker 2 in the near future (hoping no more delays but eh, rather a great game than a broken one). Got that avowed game coming up, could be good could be bad, but got gamepass so will see for myself. Seen a lot more single player games in the works, not to mention wukong is keeping us busy. Seriously, nothing to complain.

jib239d ago

Oh yeah, you're good lol I specifically mean the toxic radical types (which is in every genre) who are super negative about games they're not even into or understand the demographics of

bababooiy239d ago

Its not just a hero shooter though, thats kinda the point. Like i get there are similarities but mechanically its a very solid game that mashes the moba/hero shooter aspects very well.
Games are more then what they look like on the surface. Like Concord might seem very similar to Valorant but you strip the abilities from Concord you have a terrible shooter, do the same with Valorant you have CS one of the most popular games for the past decade with some of the best shooting mechanics on the market. Concord is only a solid game in the eyes of people who dont understand competitive fps.

JEECE239d ago

You are really making my point in different terms. I'm saying that the idea some are spouting that the failure of Concord was some grand rejection of hero shooters/Games as a Service/multiplayer only games by the gaming community at large was always BS. It's really that people just didn't want to play that game. Deadlock succeeding so close to it just reinforces that point.

porkChop238d ago

Yeah, Concord's problem isn't that it's a hero shooter. The problem is that it's Concord. It's a hero shooter that doesn't do much to stand out, and they're charging money when better games are free. People just don't want to play *that* hero shooter.

PRIMORDUS239d ago (Edited 239d ago )

So was Overwatch when it first launched in 2016, now it's just shit (OW2) run by a piece of shit company. We see this over and over, oh this game will be the next big thing etc. That's nice yawn. If it's a great game good, if not then oh well next...

Fishy Fingers239d ago (Edited 239d ago )

Valve know how to make a multiplayer game thats for sure

CS, DOTA and even to a lesser extent TF2 all over decade old and still have player counts higher than most MP games can sustain for a year.

-Foxtrot239d ago (Edited 239d ago )

I haven’t played it so I can’t say anything concrete yet but first impression wise with what we’ve seen…I don’t see anything groundbreaking with it.

Will it be good or will it be made out to be better than it is because it’s Valve.
