Concord failed because the culture of the studio made them unable or unwilling to see and fix its problems.
Admin note: the culture being discussed here is the ability for the dev studio to listen and adjust to feedback, not social issues. We will moderate accordingly.
The success of numerous original titles and the failure of several live service games demonstrate a strong demand for story-driven experiences.
World's most expensive coaster
Pretty standard for pulled off products, collectors love useless but very limited things.
ehh... I'll stick with the controller. I got enough coasters, they are called xbox games (snickers)
Sony Interactive Entertainment's recent cancellation of live service game projects is tied to the failure of Concord, based on a new report.
Good. Let it be a lesson.
I’m super curious about how they are going to go about Fairgame$. It’s a live service title which didn’t get a good reception with the announcement and it’s being made by a brand new studio they decided to buy straight away because of the live service title they were making. It’s super similar to Concord and Firewalk Studios.
Will they cancel it this far into development or release it with the high chance of it being another disappointment and making Sony the laughing stock.
i still find it ridiculous that they had soo many, 12, in the pipeline. if they had like 3, sure, but 12 is a huge number for potential failure.
They need to wake up. A God of War live service game... what a joke
Focus on quality singleplayer like you had with the ps4 and 3 that made you so well loved. 3rd party will do all the live servicing.
I think the title and description of this article are a bit misleading. It might appear that it represents the opinion of a former executive of Firwalk Studios. However, in reality, it reflects the opinion of Laura Fryer, who was an executive at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games about a decade ago.
Her video is fairly good and provides a lot of examples of this internal culture problem in other games she has worked on. However, it's not an insider perspective, and I don't think it should be treated as news but rather as an opinion piece.
The full story is not at infinitstart.com but instead on Laura Fryer’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Fryer doesn’t claim inside knowledge on “Concord”, only hearing about the estimates of budget and sales that have been passed on around on the interest. Fryer sees the problems with “Concord” based on experience with other failed games like the failed MMO “Vanguard” that I never heard of. Also, all those shots of “Concord” are just so gorgeous. Why can’t “Overwatch 2” look this good?
Look, just try to ease up on things and see how sales do. It’s that simple.
