"Just get a gaming PC instead" isn't good advice for everyone.
NRM writes "How would your life change if you were suddenly made unemployed? It's a question that very few of us would like to ponder, but one we should all be familiar with. Could you stretch the latest welfare payment/minimum wage pay cheque across household bills, rent, proper health insurance, and adequate care for your children?..." [ctd.]
Urban Ministries of Durham has a flash game called Spent that lets you try to survive for a month with only a $ 1000…
Your savings are gone. You've lost your house. You're down to your last $1,000. Can you make it through the month? A video-game collaboration between McKinney and the Urban Ministries of Durham wants you to experience that eye-opening scenario.
Interesting social experiment. Maybe turning it into a video game will bring more realization to the fact that millions of people have to make decisions like this on a daily basis.
Looks like a game where the people who need to play it will not be among those who will play it.
There have always been two markets. the enthusiast and the hobbyist. The enthusiast market is where price is no object while the hobbyist is where people who are frugal will find their own point of entry. Console gaming has always spent its entirety in the hobbyist market. it was always a lower cost point of entry with a level of simplicity that appealed to the masses. Those who want to be bold and try their hand at the enthusiast market are certainly free to do so.
When you start pushing the hobbyist into the enthusiast 'pricing' territory is where you see push back. And because value is subjective.... some see the Pro as worth it, while other may not. Especially when you look at how Sony was showcasing things in the reveal. If you have to zoom in 200% to spot any sort of difference... that really isn't selling people on the idea of a Pro. Hence why many are saying it's not worth it. It could be worth it, but we will have to wait for NEW games to showcase it like they did with GoW 2018 on the 4 Pro when it was revealed.
Ooh fancypants rich McGee over here
I could buy 2 Ps5 pros for the price of my phone.
Have some perspective people.
People pay more than that for vacumn cleaners.
I don't know what that's about .
Exactly!
A PC allows you to upgrade components like the GPU whenever you need to, whereas with a console, you’re stuck with its fixed specs. If the price is similar, why not invest in a PC? It can offer more flexibility and longevity compared to a console, which often requires replacement every few years.
