Wonder if they will show of their upscaling method similar to fsr and dlss

Aussiesummer292d ago

Nah, why would they bother, its only a TECHNICAL PRESENTATION.....

Obscure_Observer292d ago

"Wonder if they will show of their upscaling method similar to fsr and dlss"

And which *games* they´ll use to showcase Pro´s enhancements.

jznrpg292d ago

I would bet money they would since it’s a technical presentation and not just a quick reveal.

crazyCoconuts292d ago

That's almost certainly going to be the highlight (PSSR).
Would be pretty wild if they found a way to bring PSSR to existing consoles... Doubt they could, but...maybe?

Notellin292d ago

This goes down as the dumbest question I've ever seen on N4G.

Babadook7292d ago

LOL at all the doubters.

"Nothing from devs yet so..."

LOL

“ The 9-minute Technical Presentation will focus on PS5 and innovations in gaming technology.”

🤔

Eonjay292d ago

Makes sense. He will end it off with Sony announcing a future state of play to see the new games running on the hardware.

Lightning77292d ago (Edited 292d ago )

No game new announcements. Grubb said State Of Play. Like I said before he's only half right about things. @Bunga Ive even suspected at least 3rd party will show up, enhancements to first party (though he might still show those enhancements)

Now we have to wait for Vga's or even a rumored few weeks for new games? It's a wait and see.

VenomUK292d ago (Edited 292d ago )

‘Technical presentation’ - I wonder what the frig this could be about?

Obscure_Observer292d ago

@Lightning77

"No game new announcements. Grubb said State Of Play. Like I said before he's only half right about things."

Grubb never said the Pro would be showcased at State of Play. He was specifically talking about SOP this month; when asked if the Pro would make an appearance, he said he didn´t know.

Stop spreading false information.

Lightning77292d ago

@Obscure doesn't matter he's half right or gets his information flipped. Hey it's better than being flat out wrong. Either way he's still not super credible nor is he dead on about anything anymore. So no my comment still stands kid....

9 minutes haha well not much going to be shown there plus no new games will be shown which is absolutely pointless

LucasRuinedChildhood292d ago

I assume this is purely just the tech overview. He did the same thing for the base PS5. There's a rumoured separate event for games.

RaidenBlack292d ago

Apparently a SoP is rumored to follow a week later

outsider1624292d ago

8 mins of the Pro. 1 min of Knack 3 Baby!!

DarXyde292d ago

Absolutely. When you break out Cerny, you've got some technical talk incoming.

He's about to blow the doors off PSSR.

Aaaaand.... Backwards compatibility?

seanpitt23292d ago

Yeah but we need the new games to show off all the technical talk and how much powerful this console is, like a new ghost of tsushima running on pro that gives us a insight of what's it's capable of.

jznrpg292d ago

@seanpitt23 that will be the SoP probably in a week or so

DarXyde292d ago (Edited 292d ago )

seanpitt23,

Sure. I've made that point in another article that they need to have something to show off what they're getting with a Pro model because it graphics and Tflops have diminishing returns.

My guess was a focus on more ray tracing, frame rate, and PSSR to showcase.

I also expect they might show games that have released already so people can see the difference with games they know well (Spider-Man 2, I suspect).

But more than anything, I'm expecting a brief demonstration for games running UE5 to showcase games using the full feature set of the engine at 60fps.

darthv72292d ago (Edited 292d ago )

Sweet. He can say quite a bit in 9 minutes. And its likely there will be an extended stream for another time too.

RaidenBlack292d ago (Edited 292d ago )

Sony accidentally leaked "PS5 Pro" via an unlisted YT video :
https://x.com/Wario64/statu...
somebody at Sony might've confused 'unlisted' with 'private'
context : the term 'PS5 Pro' have not been officially confirmed or mentioned in any capacity, anywhere till now.

RaidenBlack291d ago

Cerny went straight to the point

RaidenBlack292d ago (Edited 292d ago )

Popcorn!
Get popcorn with extra butter !!!
edit : wait, just 9-minutes? .... a medium bucket then?

ocelot07292d ago

They really only need 5? Here's the ps5 pro it has this inside it. It costs this much. It releases on this date. Pre orders are live on this date. Here is a quick video of Helldivers 2 running at 4k 120fps. Here is astro bot running at 8k using our new upscaling technology.

RaidenBlack292d ago

Cerny's ASMR neuro-processor takes extra 2mins to prelude and 2mins to conclude

Rainbowcookie292d ago

@Raidenblack that was before his firmware update.😆

I_am_Batman292d ago

That would take more than 5 minutes. I want to see them make a proper case for it by showing me how much I'd benefit from upgrading. If PSSR is the main selling point I want to know how widespread the support for it will be.

porkChop292d ago

Helldivers 2 running 4K/120 is wishful thinking lol. The Pro doesn't have much of a CPU upgrade, just a slightly higher boot clock. Helldivers 2's quality mode is currently 1728p/30, so realistically you'll probably see 4K/30, possibly a 4K/40 mode too, with some visual upgrades from the PC version.

Einhander1972292d ago

@porkChop

"Helldivers 2 running 4K/120 is wishful thinking lol"

Do you understand what upscaling does?

I am not saying that Helldivers 2 will get a 120 fps mode, but the CPU is not going to be nearly as restristing as digital foundry tried to mislead people into believing when PSSR upscaling is implemented.

Upscaling being able to allow 50% improvement in frame rate is common and getting close to double the framerate is easily within the realm of possibility. DLSS 3 in simulations can more than triple framerate.

MrNinosan292d ago

They won't talk price or release date tomorrow.

porkChop292d ago

@Einhander

"Upscaling being able to allow 50% improvement in frame rate is common and getting close to double the framerate is easily within the realm of possibility."

Sure, but 30 to 120 is quadrupling the framerate. That isn't happening. And yes DLSS 3.5 can *sometimes* triple the framerate, but that's specifically through frame generation, not just upscaling. It also introduces a ton of input latency. But all the leaks about PSSR have talked about it being AI-based upscaling, there has been zero mention of frame generation.

I mean we'll find out more tomorrow but you're basing your comment on technology that PSSR might not even have.

Eonjay292d ago

Sounds like the show is intended to just verify specs. Hopefully we don't have to wait till next SoP to see games running on it.

porkChop292d ago

Yeah I'd think there'd definitely be a SoP this month. It'd be a bit weird to just be like "This is the console, these are the specs, here's the price, go buy it."

Father__Merrin292d ago

Ps5 pro for definatly but I don't think they will call it pro. They need to return to outrageous naming Ps5-X all it needs is a little extra power and having advance upscaling built in.

Having something too much power is diminishing returns. Anyone tht has a pc also can affirm that it's more the tech behind it

northpaws292d ago

So you prefer a small upgrade over a big upgrade? I don't quite understand your statement.

I_am_Batman292d ago (Edited 292d ago )

Proper upsampling requires engine integration. Having a much higher RT boost than rasterization, means more work for the devs in creating a custom PS5 Pro build of the game. The more extra work you put on developers, the higher the chance that games won't utilize the full potential of the hardware. Utilizing an increase in raw performance is always gonna be easier, especially in the age of dynamic resolution scaling.

With that said, I wasn't that hyped for the Pro based on the leaked specs, but I'm willing to change my mind provided they make a strong case for it. We'll know more tomorrow.

crazyCoconuts292d ago

Seeing how incredible DLSS is with Nvidia, if it approaches that, it'll be worth it. AMD has been woefully behind in this area. DLSS is so good it practically negates the need for full 4K rendering.

I_am_Batman292d ago

@crazyCoconuts: Yeah, I don't doubt it's gonna be better than FSR, otherwise there wouldn't have been a point in developing a proprietary solution to begin with.

Christopher292d ago

The leaked YouTube video called it PS5 Pro.

292d ago
MrNinosan292d ago

It will be called PS5 Pro, as certain as the next PS will be called Playstation 6.

MrNinosan291d ago (Edited 291d ago )

I don't care for a pro model, I'm hoping for that rumoured handheld to be true

jznrpg292d ago

I want a handheld as well but I think it would be a little better to launch it with PS6 and have some compatibility however they want to do that. I’m getting the Pro day 1 but I’d buy a handheld day 1 as well.

RaidenBlack292d ago

Handheld compatible with PS6?
As in sharing the gen with PS6?
That'd be same as Series S holding back the Series X.

Inverno292d ago

One with a PS6 that plays all the PS5/PS4 games would be an instant buy from me

crazyCoconuts292d ago

C'mon, no handheld is being announced tomorrow

porkChop292d ago

Sony has already made it clear that they won't take resources away from their console business to support a handheld. It would just end up like the Vita, only getting games from their B teams and very few games at that.

Einhander1972292d ago

"Sony has already made it clear that they won't take resources away from their console business to support a handheld."

Sony also didn't expect the the Portal to outsell Xbox consoles.

"It would just end up like the Vita, only getting games from their B teams and very few games at that."

The rumor is it would natively play PS4 and maybe even PS5 games, something that should be possible for a device that releasing in 3 - 4 years.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Is Slow, Silly, and Bloated…and I Love It

Shaz from Pixel Swish: "Despite its bloated open world, ridiculous number of mini-games, and questionable narrative sensibilities that can oftentimes be at odds with itself in regards to tone, there's no denying the amount of love Square Enix has injected into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. A love that, though at times can lead to unnecessary padding, manages to keep a sense of wonder."
