Starfield Getting Up On It's Feet Was As Simple As Adding Vehicles It Seems

Shaheer from Tech4Gamers writes "Starfield was essentially incomplete at launch, even lacking basic features like vehicles, which are now being added to the game post-launch, making the experience way better."

"Lol nah."

Yes. Have you played? Because I don´t think you did.

Haters who wished on this game to fail are eating crow.

Starfield is pretty much alive and well with 11K concurrent players on Steam in the last 24 hours after one year!

Things will only get better with Shattered Space expansion.

I can´t wait!

CantThinkOfAUsername295d ago

Fallout 4 has 22.5K after 9 years. A newly released Bethesda game not even managing half of that figure isn't something worth celebrating.

Skyrim has 27K after 13 years, by the way. What was your point again?

Christopher295d ago

I've put about 80 hours into the game. Ground vehicles isn't saving this game from repeat dungeons, boring weapons/combat, segregated story telling (nothing ties in, it just exists in parallel and even your final decision matters nothing for how the story ends), building things just to collect things to build and collect things better, and more.

I really tried hard to like Starfield, but it felt lifeless to me. Everything felt disjointed. It's as if you took game elements and just shoved them together, not wove them together. And, yeah, Starfield absolutely isn't the only game with this problem, but it was lauded as being more than the past and in the end fell flat as other games we've come to experience in the RPG genre. Bethesda hyped up a charge for the future by presenting the same thing we've experienced since 1999.

This crowd will only change its tune on Starfield after it launches on PS5 lol

"It's actually not that bad..."

@CantThinkOfAUsername

"What was your point again?"

My point?

My point is that Starfield is a VERY successful new IP, and after one year it still engages 12,459 concurrent players as of right now!

You tried to drawn a comparison but the very information that you´d provided regarding both Fallout 4 and Skyrim makes your whole "point" a mute one.

So are you really trying to compare Starfield which is a NEW IP one year in the market, with Bethesda´s most successful, popular and established games which by your own admission, have been in the market for 9 and 13 years respectively and have the same amount of that time worth of DLCs, Expansions, Mods, among thousands if not million patches, fixes and updates? Rubbish.

Try harder.

Gamingsince1981295d ago

A mute point ? Ummm what?

11k isn't many for a brand new game by bathesda that's terrible.

Game was horrible and don’t see vehicles fixing that

Kornholic295d ago

MS still hasn't released SALES numbers for Starfield. The game flopped hard commercially.

TheEroica295d ago (Edited 295d ago )

He didn't play it.... He's too busy with the 4 other people playing concord... Sonys new multimillion dollar game and studio that nobody wants. The biggest financial flop in gaming history.

"A mute point ? Ummm what?

Brand new? The game is one year old! It´s a SINGLE PLAYER game; not GAAS

@Kornholic

"MS still hasn't released SALES numbers for Starfield. The game flopped hard commercially."

Yeah Einstein, must be the reason why MS kept a team made out of over 200 developers STILL working on that game rather than just be done with and move on to Fallout 5. /S

Doesn´t matter how hard you haters try. The game is a major success and the next expansion after Shattered Space is already in development. Find another game to hate.

@cloganart said “This crowd will only change its tune on Starfield after it launches on PS5 lol. ‘It's actually not that bad...’”

When No Man’s Sky launched on PS4 it received strong criticism for under delivering on the game promised in the initial trailers. When it was released two years later on Xbox One it received praise and better scores. This wasn’t because of an anti-PlayStation conspiracy or ‘PlayStation tax’, it was because over the two year period the developer Hello Games had considerably improved the game so the version that launched on Xbox was a better version.

Starfield (2023)
233 24hr peak
194th in top sellers
57% positive rating

Skyrim (2011)
28,000 24hr peak
167th top sellers
91% positive rating

Fallout 4 (2015)
23,000 24 hr. peak.
257th top sellers list
82% positive

The numbers are saying that adding a vehicle didn't help Starfield.

DodoDojo294d ago

So now 11k players is bad? I get it a lot of you hate Microsoft but that is in no means a bad number.

Instead of running in a straight line for 10 mins to the copy pasted destination you can now drive in a straight line for 5 mins to the copy pasted destination.
Wow, I can see why tech4gamers is coving this, there's some real innovative tech happening in Starfield. What will be next, ships that can fly and don't just spin around a skybox with 2D planets?

Julion0715296d ago

Waiting for the dlc then I’m going back to play it

PhillyDonJawn295d ago (Edited 295d ago )

Same, finna try out Diablo 4 in the meantime since madden 25 was a let down

Julion0715294d ago

Diablo is fun and I like madden it’s much better than last year at least but I get what u mean, definitely could be better

No one gives a crap about Starfield in 2025. I mean seriously, has anyone remembered this game even exists? Lmao

Alos8826d ago

They really aren't. Nothing in Starfield is nearly as iconic as anything from Fallout.

Putte26d ago

Who is even playing Starfield? That was a major let down.
