Star Wars Outlaws Review - IGN

Star Wars Outlaws is a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration, but it’s hindered by simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch.

I wonder if Ubisoft will ever be able to put out a 90+ meta game in future!

LucasRuinedChildhood248d ago (Edited 248d ago )

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is the closest that they've gotten in a while.

Eonjay248d ago

The crazy part about this is that the game didn't sell well and this sends the wrong message to Ubisoft.

-Foxtrot248d ago

@Eonjay

Maybe because it wasn't the PoP we wanted.

Profchaos248d ago

Not in the AAA space but when they give small budgets to creative studios we get some good stuff along the lines of valiant hearts but it's been a while so I'm inclined to think they are just trying to pursue some sort of Live service goldmine but perfectly content churning out these average games until they hit it

smolinsk247d ago

But that is wishful thinking. About how to Reviews does there job. Nobody goes to the developer and ask for that stuff. That is a very small number. Of course the game will performe better with the day one patch. That's a given.

thorstein248d ago

Ubisoft fans (fans in general): Please give us Black Flag 2

That would be a 90+ meta game right there.

I can't imagine that employees there wouldn't love to work on a game like that.

andy85248d ago

I mean would it? Even a remake of Black Flag I'd argue wouldn't as I can't remenber an AAA remake that outscored the original. And that's a time when Ubisoft developed outstanding games. Ubi of 2024 are nothing like they were over 10 years ago so I don't see how a sequel is outscoring the original

anast248d ago

If there were a ton of unique encounters all with meaningful and timely leveling, no one would feel the need to visit their microtransaction shop to skip the intentionally boring parts of the game. I know some people don't feel this need, but many do which is why it's a feature in the first place, and why it will be difficult for an UBI game to get an actual high score.

RaidenBlack248d ago

Only the Remakes (if done right) might give them some chance ... the Splinter Cell and AC II Remake.
They're also working something interesting & different with AC:Hexe ... so lets see if that works out

Christopher248d ago

I mean, Immortals Fenyx Rising is a great game, but even it only gets to 81/100. Ubisoft is one of the developers where people can truly be honest about the games and they don't get hype because they're already known for big IPs that everyone is used to. So I don't really go based on the typical scale people are commonly used to now (only 80+ is good) and go based on more realistic ratings we had in the 90s (60+ could be good if it's your thing, 70+ was good, 80+ was amazing, 90+ is once in a generation).

For me fenyx is ruined by all the damn currency's that take far too long long to farm.

Profchaos248d ago

The bugs in these review videos are unreal this really should have gotten a little longer in the oven to polish it up

smolinsk248d ago

Remember this is before the Day one patch

Profchaos248d ago

True however a good reviewer typically does go back to the developer and ask if these issues will be rectified in the day one patch and only include the bugs if they are not planner to be fixed.

DF has stated this many times they often delay their videos until patched are out of the bugs are visual

smolinsk248d ago

Looking forward to this game. Looks fantastic in every way. Absolutely playing this for the great Star Wars open World feel. First game to do that right. Is it classic Ubisoft Hollow Open World. Yes maybe. But love to roam there worlds.

Stuff that should have been in the base game. Probably would have had better sales, too.

YourMommySpoils19d ago

Don't think even that would have helped this borefest of the least Star Wars experience in history of gaming.

coolbeans19d ago

Nah. The Outlaws base game isn't starved of content. Its more the lacking quality-of-life features at launch and a design template that's fundamentally confused.

-Foxtrot19d ago

The first thing we see Hondo Ohnaka in for a while since Rebels / The Clone Wars and it's for this...

He's such a great character, I thought he'd have been included in something better. Hopefully we see him in Ahsoka Season 2 or the Mandalorian and Grogu film.
