If MS discovered the leak... why not help the dev plug it? MS can step in and help where necessary. They did with BG3 most recently.

Obscure_Observer279d ago

@darthv72

"If MS discovered the leak... why not help the dev plug it?"

Microsoft:

“We can't comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders."

https://br.ign.com/black-my...

AA of right now, Not one outlet attempt to blame Sony like they blamed MS for the game being bad. Last week it was 5 reviews for Concord maybe like 7 or 8 now compared to like what 50 reviews for Redfall that week?

piroh279d ago

Why so angry? Is it really necessary to mention Sony?

Chevalier279d ago

Trash Series S is the issue. So go blame Xbox. Has nothing to do with Playstation. Terrible design and flaws for the Series S are to blame. This isn't any different than Baldurs Gate 3 and Halo Infinite Issues. It's just going to be the common occurrence going forward

RaiderNation279d ago

Christ man, change the record! I can tell which posts are yours without even looking at the name!

kayoss279d ago

Why am I not surprised by your comment. Series is lacking and have issues and some how and some way you bring Sony into the mix.
This has nothing to do with concord. People are blaming MS because the series s is trash, it shouldn’t even exist.

MetroidFREAK21279d ago

Bro, go away. You realize no one ever agrees with your terrible takes?

RauLeCreuset279d ago

I'll quote myself this time.

Me to you 3 days ago after you implied in another article that Phil lied about Indiana Jones exclusivity:

"P.S. Phil didn't lie. He pump faked you with misleading statements and counted on people like you to fall for it and dutifully spread the lie for him."

https://n4g.com/comments/re...

Me 64 days ago when MS implied an exclusivity deal was the reason for Wukong's delay:

"I would be cautious about going full tilt off of an implication that Xbox isn't willing to commit to by explicitly saying what they are implying.

"The relevancy of the implication to why the game is delayed on Xbox covers a broad range from PS cutting an exclusivity deal to keep it off Xbox to the implication only serving as a distraction thrown out by Xbox that has nothing to do with Wukong's delay. Somewhere between is the possibility that the game wasn't also delayed on PS5 because PS offered unconditioned support to help get it out on time.

"I would be all the more cautious considering the controversial implication followed them saying they are "working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms." That comment lends itself more to the idea that there are development difficulties or restrictions on Xbox they are working with Game Science to address more than the idea that it was delayed because of an exclusivity agreement."

Sorry, the last paragraph was a typo and direct quote from a comment made by Lightning77´s which I replied to in another topic.

All you people wondering why mention Sony. This is what I think every article that attacks Xbox for a 3rd party games bad performance. You guys are so one sided.

You already won, Xbox brand is dead, time to be humble

Believe or not there is always a bunch of people defending Series S.

New title a few months from now on: Black myth Wukong cancelled for potato

neutralgamer1992279d ago

This game has issues running in powerful PC’s and PS5, it would be really interesting to see how this game runs on series s

279d ago
InUrFoxHole279d ago

Exactly. This game isn't optimized. Fine with waiting

Kekewei279d ago (Edited 279d ago )

They probably don't think a new Chinese developer is much important and ignored them at first. As a Chinese, I've seen enough evidence over these years that Microsoft doesn't care about the Chinese market as much as Sony does.

Zeref279d ago

What makes you think they're not trying to help?

InUrFoxHole279d ago

While normally I would agree, I've heard this game has other issues that should be addressed 1st. Iron out some bugs. I'm ok with it being delayed.

RhinoGamer88279d ago

The XBOX studio has very senior-level engineers and systems designers...what the hell are they doing?!

DivineHand125279d ago

Xbox has no obligation to assist with plugging a memory leak. They would have to reverse engineer the code to fix that issue. Besides, I don't believe any of the platform holders helped CDPR in any significant way with making Cyberpunk 2077 playable.

Xbox could be benefiting from the sales boom the sales of the game in China but they seem to be following some different strategy in being a more of a publisher.

--Onilink--279d ago

What does MS even have to do with getting a game’s memory leak fixed?

It’s an error in the game’s code. The developer will go over their code, identify the cause of the leak and fix it…. Simple as that

NotoriousWhiz279d ago

As a developer, memory leaks are a pain to find. I wish them luck.

LoveSpuds278d ago (Edited 278d ago )

The fly in the ointment is, it probably isn't worth the developers committing resources to fix it. It's not just that there are barely any XBOX's in China (where most of the copies of the game are selling), it's that Xbox gamers in the west have been conditioned to not buy games.

Why waste resources if you cannot recoup the money it would take to sort out the issue?

Destiny1080279d ago

the series s is not powerful enough to fix memory leaks

Hofstaderman279d ago

The game is clearly not designed around the Series S. Which is a considerable problem for XBOX as 75% of all Series sales is the S. Another unintentional PS5 console exclusive.

--Onilink--279d ago (Edited 279d ago )

Nothing about this game has shown to be memory or CPU intensive (just look at Steam Deck benchmarks). And Unreal has already proven quite adaptable in the rest of the areas that will require adjustments.

Is it still some significant work to port? Absolutely. But I see no reason why the Series S couldn’t run this game in the expected lower resolution/settings and 30fps.

People tend to forget that the biggest issue with BG3 was split screen (which had significant memory implications). Most regular settings can still be adjusted to fit the Series S, its probably just a lot of work that devs probably dont really enjoy doing

279d ago
Hofstaderman279d ago

Getting my Deck today so I'm going to experiment. Its not bad on PS5. Had no crashes and im 7 hours in.

--Onilink--278d ago (Edited 278d ago )

@NotAgaiN4G

Why wouldnt I bring up the steam deck? Its literally a less powerful device than the Series S and its possible to run the game there just fine. Have you even seen any Steam deck benchmarks for it?

Of course the Series S port will be very low res, probably doing like 50% FSR to 1080p with many settings at low and obviously no RT.

But that doesnt mean it cant be ported. Again, the biggest issue with ports on Series S has been the abysmal memory. And not only is this game not using particularly high quality textures / high memory consumption, but UE is generally very adaptable in memory related settings

The PS5 port of the game is bad not because the console it can’t handle the game, but because of very dumb decisions by the developer.

Knightofelemia279d ago

I still say the Series S is to blame because the game has to be nerfed down to run on the machine.

Did they say series s cant run the game

The Physical Release Of Black Myth: Wukong Performed So Well It Saved Businesses, Says Publisher

As more and more games go digital-only, Black Myth: Wukong's physical publisher says it performed so well that it saved some businesses.

Good to see physical still doing well!

dantesparda27d ago

So fix the performance on PS5/Pro. With up all that ghosting and dithering, improve the performance!

FPSRUSSIA28d ago

it would of sold even more Physical if it released day one but still Great News.

Yi-Long27d ago

The industry wants to push the narrative that physical is on its way out and gamers prefer digital. Fact is that many gamers simply have less and less options to buy physical, so they’re stuck with either digital, or nothing.

Many gamers still prefer physical, especially for SP games. Games without ‘always online’ or other kinds of anti-consumer DRM.

I hope they’ll release a complete edition (physical) for Wukong once the announced DLC comes out.

OptimusDK27d ago

I totally get it, but dont know if i really matters as most games now do not hold the actual game, or at least a very early version without day one patches.

They are often just a licence to download the actual game. Unfortunately it is not like in the old days, if you just had the game you can play the game no matter what.

Nyxus27d ago

That goes for some games but there are still plenty for which this isn't the case: https://www.doesitplay.org/

jznrpg27d ago

Most games are on disc.

gold_drake27d ago

yeh i hate it too, if they'd give us actual numbers on how much it costs to print themz id be more inclined to beliebe it, but otherwise, nah no way.

kayoss27d ago

I try to buy physical PS5 games when possible. Physical add an extra cost to the developers. However, the fact that digital cost the same as a physical version of the game makes no sense to me. The only games i will buy digital are Nintendo Switch games, those cartridges are small and i lost/misplaced a few already.

senorfartcushion27d ago

Every game that sells well "saves businesses" nowadays - based on how many studios suffer layoffs due to a game not skyrocketing to success, that is.

Popsicle27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

I waited for the physical release to purchase this. If it didn’t get a physical release I had already made up my mind that I was fine skipping it.

I know I am fighting a losing battle because an all digital future is inevitable, but I only purchase physical and will continue doing so.

kayoss27d ago

You will be surprised. Games are getting bigger in size and we all know that console dont provide you with that much hard drive space. I know you can just delete the game from your harddrive to save space and re-install whenever, but me having a physical insure that i can install anytime i want, even if they they take the game off their digital stores.

ravens5227d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Exactly. I do the same. Only digital games I have are from ps+, and I don't consider those owned. As soon as I don't renew, those games are inaccessible.

We don’t control who suddenly decides to bring it up in interviews lol

lukasmain64d ago

It's pure speculation on behalf of the author of this opinion piece and it hold no weight at all.

InUrFoxHole63d ago

@lukasmain
Im curious how you can make that comment when he specifically mentions Blackmyth? No weight at all? Either...
A. You can't read
B. You're letting blind loyalty take point
C. You just didn't read it
D. You're trolling

pwnmaster300064d ago

There really wasn’t no suggestion.
Just pure speculation as usual.

Lightning7763d ago

It's in the interview. He said it.

lukasmain63d ago

He never suggested a special exclusivity deal. Far from it. The author is just speculating.

Lightning7763d ago (Edited 63d ago )

@Main I quoted Rosenberg at the bottom he said it himself on the interview that him and guys go out and find hidden gems. This interview wouldn't mean much but Black Myth was supposed to release simultaneously along with the Xbox version unfortunately, it didn't. Got taken off and GS said it was the S. MS said there was a deal in place. If he's going out and finding niche or "hidden gems" BMW should of released only on PS5 since its considered a hidden gem that could only be played on PS console just like the rest of the other games he mentioned. The game was announced awhile ago as a multiplat. The S of late has been holding its own with third party and 1st party games. It's also clear that the S did have issues for awhile also and maybe GS really can't optimize for the console. I'm just exploring every possibility.

Hmm, I dunno at the end of the day. The S has been performing well optimization wise lately. I dunno it's hard to tell anymore what's, what.

-Foxtrot64d ago (Edited 64d ago )

There is no way in high hell Sony would pay money for this, something so successful and not advertise it as an exclusive console game. There's just no way, they've done it for everything else, why would they not do it for this.

It's people who can't let a story go, there's no deal, they just probably supported a new Chinese studio with their China Hero Project and give them tools to help develop on their console. If Microsoft came along and offered them the same tools early on for their console I'm sure Sony wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Sony took a chance on a new studio early on and they benefitted from it, that's their reward.

Beautiful game, love the series, and the character!

Well crafter and well done.

Toecutter0088d ago

Good. The game is unique, heartfelt, and beautiful. Yes, the mechanics are rather simplistic. But the teams dedication to storytelling is on full display. It's definitely not for everyone, but it won't disappoint those who appreciate video games that push the boundaries of the medium.

Alos8888d ago

More like pushes the boundary of how short a game can be while still charging fifty quid

InUrFoxHole88d ago

Love the game. Beautiful looking, game play was solid and it didn't over stay it's welcome.

PrinceOfAnger88d ago

Good game with the best graphics and animation I've seen this gen. They need to focus more on the gameplay though if there is HB3.
