Harry Potter Quiddich Champions and Plucky Squire

Einhander1972249d ago

Harry Potter is Harry Potter, it's a huge franchise. And Plucky Squire was the second most popular Devolver game during that show last year after Cult of the Lamb which was added to PS+ this month.

@CrimsonWing69
Well we dont know yet because both are day one releases. Unless huge for you means AAA only, then no, they are not huge.

Einhander1972249d ago

@S2Killinit

Statistically the majority of "gamers" only play 2-3 games period some live service like Fortnite a sports game and CoD.

You can give them awesome games like Cult of the Lamb or Plucky Squire and they won't even install them for free. No game will make them happy and even when they gave out CoD and FIFA they still complained because they already had the game.

Like last month, around here people were complaining about Lego Star Wars (and other Lego games in the past), but that game ended up being one of the most popular games on the service so far this year. Plucky Squire and Harry Potter will probably be popular regardless of what is said here.

Plucky squire looks good Harry Potter though they can keep it

GamerRN249d ago

Yeah I was reading the above comments about how it's a huge franchise.

Technically correct, Harry Potter is a huge franchise, but the quidditch game is far from successful... Or good

"Harry Potter is a huge franchise, but the quidditch game is far from successful... Or good"

It hasn't even released yet..

@Pheonix76 @Einhander1972 no need to list the day one games on plus, as I was just trying to make a funny by quoting what some say that Plus doesn’t get day ones.

The article I commented on is stating there will be two new day one games releasing in September. Basicslly disproving that old chestnut. I have many of those day one games myself, so I’m the last one to believe that there are none.

Adding an /s to the comment in my opinion wasn’t needed since I used quotation marks paraphrasing.

*second time I had to rewrite this comment because as soon as I hit send the first time my phone refreshed the site and I lost the comment. I’m hoping that I was able to clear that little faux pas.

**To the people that agreed I’m hoping the agrees were from people who understood my failed attempt of a joke and not from anyone who actually thought I was believing I was serious.

Einhander1972249d ago

I know you were being sarcastic, I just wanted to point out some the games that PS+ has gotten day one.

You were sarcastically pointing out that PS+ gets day one, I was validating that there have been a lot of day ones and popular well known games.

I wasn't actually even replying to you, it was just the best comment to post the list too.

Abnor_Mal249d ago (Edited 249d ago )

lol okay cool, I just woke up and saw the disagrees and list and thought my comment missed my intended mark.

“ I wasn't actually even replying to you, it was just the best comment to post the list too.”

Okay I got you, my misunderstanding.

TwoPicklesGood249d ago

We don’t get any good AAA day one games which is ridiculous it’s with his expensive PS+ and the rest are.

Abnor_Mal249d ago (Edited 249d ago )

I’d guess because Sony doesn’t want to pay through the nose for big blockbuster day one titles. They may deem it better to invest their money back into their own games than to shell out for a big title which in all likelihood would have still been available on their platform regardless, so why shell out more for what they would have gotten anyways.

shinoff2183249d ago

Look what happened to Ms because they had to keep supplying gamepass with aaa titles. I'd rather Sony not go that route. Plus if it's any good it's worth owning. Ive bought some of the indie day one titles as well.

Best Surprise of 2024

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "It's easier and often more profitable to focus on the negative in the video game industry, but there's enough gloominess in the world. Let's focus instead on all the happy surprises that 2024 gave us. First, there's Balatro, the little indie-that-could that made a bigger splash than most AAA games. Second, there's Bakeru, an unassuming action-platformer with style and creativity approximating the giants of the genre. Third, there's The Plucky Squire, an outside-the-box (and off-the-page) action-adventure that constantly breaks the rules. Fourth, there's Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which against the odds delivers both an outstanding Metroidvania and a game worthy of the legendary franchise. Finally, there's Silent Hill 2, which, despite months of hand-wringing, turned out to be one of the best remakes of the year."

Best Narrative of 2024

VGChartz's Chinh Tran: "Like a good book, a good videogame story will stay with you long after the credits roll and the controller is put down. As is true in most years, 2024's Best Narratives feature RPGs. However, joining them on the shortlist are a diverse set of games from different genres, proving that a good story in videogames isn't limited to one single genre. And despite these differences in game types, all the shortlisted titles do have something in common: a grand and memorable narrative.

Indiana Jones and the Circle of Fire put players in the shoes of the titular character in the franchise's best narrative in decades. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth allowed players to continue on a bold new path from the original in exciting ways. Metaphor: ReFantazio let players experience a mature and complex tale of discrimination and equality. Senua's Saga: Hellblade II once again wove a metaphoric tale of hate, tragedy, and resiliency. Finally, The Plucky Squire creatively showed us what happens when characters from a storybook discover a world beyond their own."

The Plucky Squire (XS) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "It speaks well to The Plucky Squire overall that in spite of several rookie team mistakes the potency of its core conceit remains so engaging. There's something genuinely exciting about altering the state of one's world through words or a different perspective. Each new tweak on the reality-shifting formula builds up to a rather surprising and endearing final act. But upon reaching that point of greater player expression, it's hard not to question the flawed mentality to get there. Was the occasional diversion to a lackluster mini-game worth it? Could there have been greater flexibility in its earlier puzzle-solving or combat? Why not give combat more of a bite? While interrogating occasional missteps makes me see the unused potential of these systems, Jot's journey still remains a charming page-turner that's tough to put down."
