Its actually scary, you have to remember the PS5 was pretty much unavailable during the the first 18-24 months, it would be around 65-70 million if not for that, if Sony get a proper showcase out, cut the price of the base PS5, and market PS5 Pro around GTA VI the sales will explode.

No it doesn't. Gamers care about games. If you actually are interested in PlayStation you'll likely have one by now 4 years on. Price cuts are to attract the less interested gamer. Content is what people want.

I remember the xbox guys trying to say demand was probably the same for PS5 and XS because of major supply shortages for PS5. I'm pretty sure XS sold a lot more units to would be PS5 owners.

And the kicker is the vast majority of the Series sales is the S so they weighed down by their parity policy....poor XBOX.

And i was told. The series S is gonna decimate ps5 sales because of it's cheap price. When i argued otherwise..i was told no console in history has ever lost when launched cheap.

Atleast they got it right, the S "decimated the X.

Yeah MS tried to release two different consoles and combine their sales numbers to save face, but it sort of backfired hard.

You need to see the chart in the article to see how fast the gap is growing in favor of PlayStation. Consumers see Xbox as the losing console and nothing Microsoft has done in the last 11 years has changed that.

I think there's still a chance of surpassing the PS4.

Sony never released such a statement as far as I know, and probably never would. But, Sony did release their official numbers which was above 61 million about 1-2 months ago (two million more than this article says) So you do the math.

Excuse me, but that's incorrect.

The latest 'unit sales' Sony reported was 61.7m in their recent Q1 report.

At the end of PS4's aligned Q1, the PS4 was reported with 63.5m units sold.

And unless the PS5 didn't outsell PS4 by 1.8m units since July this year (which it didn't), this minor gap is still there.

Perhaps we need the space to open up for Nintendo to step in the void, or some other company (although I doubt any of these other mega corporations will have consoles gaming’s best interest in heart) imo it needs to be a company with entertainment in the blood.
