Quality mode
targeted 30fps and 4k

performance mode, inconclusive about resolution but targeted 60fps and 1440p

apparently ps5 version very optimised

Obscure_Observer283d ago (Edited 283d ago )

"apparently ps5 version very optimised"

Yeah sure... As long as anyone fell for such fabricated and delusional bs:

"As per the insider, Black Myth Wukong will feature two graphics modes, likely to be Quality and Performance modes based on the resolution and frame rate that they target. In terms of image quality, the Quality mode runs at a NATIVE resolution of 4K (2160p). Meanwhile, as is often the case on current-gen consoles, the Performance mode runs at a NATIVE resolution of 1440p."

Not even a 4090 will achieve such performance for an UE5 powered game like Black Myth: Wukong.

I´m 100% positive that the PS5´s native resolution on performance mode will be lower than native 900p.

So I´m calling BS on this "insider" claims.

Gamehard283d ago

If PS5 resolution will be sub 900p, I wonder what series S will be at, whenever it comes that is.

pwnmaster3000283d ago

If PS5 is 900p then Xbox will also be 900p.
So let’s hope that’s not the case.
I can’t even imagine what series s will look like then.

Honestly I love my Xbox, but MS really held back Series X by making Series S. Actually held back both PS5 and Series X.

Sonic1881283d ago (Edited 283d ago )

With raytracing and path-tracing turned off, it should be able to hit 4K 60fps on high settings on a 4090 especially if you decide to use DLSS or (DLDSR) I can't wait to find out

gold_drake283d ago (Edited 283d ago )

i dunno. i didnt make the game.

it will probably run better than the series s version im sure.

gammaray13283d ago

Is your asshole jealous of your mouth with the amount of shit that pours out of it

anast283d ago

The XS/S will be running at 400p then.

CobraKai283d ago

I think “insider claims” should not be filed as news. It’s basically saying “i know a guy that played the game”. Not really a credible source

RaiderNation283d ago

Oooohhh look at the big man with the skepticism.

lucasnooker283d ago

900p on a ps5 is a bit of a low ball. Maybe ps4 lol

Elda283d ago

Seeing that the game is having a rough time running on the XB series which is more likely the S fault & it's released being delayed on the XB series it's more likely to run 900p on the Series S & possibly the X as well. It seems you're envious & jealous that it's releasing on the PS5 first with no problems....LOL!

What an obscure (and somewhat bitter) observation!!

S2Killinit282d ago (Edited 282d ago )

Good thing this is PS5 exclusive for the time being. It wont be held back by xbox series consoles. Let MS handle their own mess.

282d ago
fr0sty282d ago

Right, just like you were 100% sure that we wouldn't see any major first party Xbox games come to PlayStation, and now they won't even say Gears of War is console exclusive...

Obscure_Observer282d ago

@S2Killinit

"Good thing this is PS5 exclusive for the time being. It wont be held back by xbox series consoles. Let MS handle their own mess."

I agree. We´ll see how superior the PS5 version of that game really is, when compared with the "nerfed and held back" version on the Xbox Series X thanks to the Series S.

@fr0sty

"Right, just like you were 100% sure that we wouldn't see any major first party Xbox games come to PlayStation, and now they won't even say Gears of War is console exclusive..."

Oh... but you were 100% sure that MS would turn itself into a full third party developer to Playstation and leave the console gaming market for good. What happened?!

About Gears of War on Playstation... well, sorry pal. Not happening:

"While I know hearing "case-by-case" doesn't make hardcore Xbox fans happy, I continue to see the logical behind careful evaluation for each title. The next DOOM is going to be multiplatform at launch, and I certainly think that makes a lot of sense, as did Sea of Thieves. On the flip side, having games like Gears of War: E-Day and Perfect Dark being targeted to Xbox hardware and PC also makes a fair bit of sense."

StormSnooper282d ago (Edited 282d ago )

@Obscure
I’ll be enjoying this PS5 exclusive, you can wait for a Xbox port, if it ever does arrive. Hopefully they can put in the time to get a decent port to Xbox.

"I’ll be enjoying this PS5 exclusive, you can wait for a Xbox port, if it ever does arrive. Hopefully they can put in the time to get a decent port to Xbox"

Enjoy your game, dude. It does looks great.

I´ll be enjoying Star Wars: Outlaws in a couple of weeks. I wasn´t planning on getting BMW day one anyway because of it. Thanks for your concern, though.

Would be nice if they offered a 40fps mode for those with 120hz screens. That seems to be a rather sweet spot between quality and performance in many games.

Psychonaut85283d ago

Yeah. I’m hoping in the future when 120hz screens are the baseline that the graphics mode will be 40fps, cuz it’s a palpable difference. 30 can feel like a stop motion movie after you’ve been playing 60, 40 with decent motion blur isn’t bad.

Mr Pumblechook282d ago (Edited 282d ago )

@Obscure_Observer I also wanted to play to play Black Myth on Xbox on the 20th August and am disappointed I cannot because Game Science will not be releasing it on the platform. I understand your frustration, however this does not mean you should debase yourself with this bitter besmirching of the game on other formats in an attempt to take the shine of the experience many PS5 gamers will, likely, have when enjoying the game on launch day. You need to be better.

RaidenBlack282d ago (Edited 282d ago )

We've only seen PC footage till date, I think ...
Even if the said resolution holds, I think the graphics presets/settings will be lowered on consoles to target and balance the resolution and framerate.
Need to rely heavily on frame generation as well ... we all saw how a comparatively simpler UE5 game like Immortals of Aveum performed on consoles.
30fps mode works/will work but the 60fps modes still performs poorly in previous UE5 titles.

DivineHand125283d ago

While I am happy to see that these developers see the importance of having the game run at 60 fps. I don't like the fixed 1440p and targeted 60 fps wording. I would press the developers to explain that part more.

I would prefer if it was dynamic resolution targeting 1440p and a locked 60 fps.

The original wording sounds like they are locking the game to run at those resolutions and there will be framerate dips in some sections.

Obscure_Observer283d ago

"I would prefer if it was dynamic resolution targeting 1440p and a locked 60 fps."

I´m 100% positive that it will be 1440p dynamic.

Tacoboto283d ago

The person this awful article is basing their story off of spoke only of this regarding the numbers:

"1440p/60FPS
2160p/30FPS"

He gave zero information on native vs upscaled. We don't know the settings and UE5 features used on console either.

But every UE5 game out now, especially one targeting 60, uses Dynamic Resolution. The one case where Dynamic Resolution isn't used with UE5 is The First Descendant with Frame Gen enabled. Maybe Immortals of Aveum's FG mode is the same way but it was at launch hitting a very low res with its dynamic range

PRIMORDUS283d ago

Hard pass, comes with Denuvo on PC, that and well Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds also releases on Aug 20th, so I will be very busy. 😎 I buy some PC games not ones with Denuvo.

Popsicle283d ago

I want this game so badly. Was always going to be a day one purchase until I found out I will only be able to purchase a digital code. Consequently, I’m more interested in what the PS5 Pro specs will be because I may be in for a long wait to purchase this game.

jznrpg283d ago

I’ve read hat disc versions will be coming later. I read September somewhere but not sure if that’s accurate. I can wait for a disc version I have plenty to play

Elda283d ago (Edited 283d ago )

As always I play my games in Quality mode, I like the visuals to be sharp & clear. I really want a physical copy but seeing that it's only $60 & not $70 I may take the leap & buy the game digitally seeing that the game really looks fun.

The Physical Release Of Black Myth: Wukong Performed So Well It Saved Businesses, Says Publisher

As more and more games go digital-only, Black Myth: Wukong's physical publisher says it performed so well that it saved some businesses.

Good to see physical still doing well!

dantesparda11d ago

So fix the performance on PS5/Pro. With up all that ghosting and dithering, improve the performance!

FPSRUSSIA11d ago

it would of sold even more Physical if it released day one but still Great News.

Yi-Long11d ago

The industry wants to push the narrative that physical is on its way out and gamers prefer digital. Fact is that many gamers simply have less and less options to buy physical, so they’re stuck with either digital, or nothing.

Many gamers still prefer physical, especially for SP games. Games without ‘always online’ or other kinds of anti-consumer DRM.

I hope they’ll release a complete edition (physical) for Wukong once the announced DLC comes out.

OptimusDK11d ago

I totally get it, but dont know if i really matters as most games now do not hold the actual game, or at least a very early version without day one patches.

They are often just a licence to download the actual game. Unfortunately it is not like in the old days, if you just had the game you can play the game no matter what.

Nyxus11d ago

That goes for some games but there are still plenty for which this isn't the case: https://www.doesitplay.org/

jznrpg11d ago

Most games are on disc.

gold_drake11d ago

yeh i hate it too, if they'd give us actual numbers on how much it costs to print themz id be more inclined to beliebe it, but otherwise, nah no way.

kayoss11d ago

I try to buy physical PS5 games when possible. Physical add an extra cost to the developers. However, the fact that digital cost the same as a physical version of the game makes no sense to me. The only games i will buy digital are Nintendo Switch games, those cartridges are small and i lost/misplaced a few already.

senorfartcushion11d ago

Every game that sells well "saves businesses" nowadays - based on how many studios suffer layoffs due to a game not skyrocketing to success, that is.

Popsicle11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

I waited for the physical release to purchase this. If it didn’t get a physical release I had already made up my mind that I was fine skipping it.

I know I am fighting a losing battle because an all digital future is inevitable, but I only purchase physical and will continue doing so.

kayoss11d ago

You will be surprised. Games are getting bigger in size and we all know that console dont provide you with that much hard drive space. I know you can just delete the game from your harddrive to save space and re-install whenever, but me having a physical insure that i can install anytime i want, even if they they take the game off their digital stores.

ravens5210d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Exactly. I do the same. Only digital games I have are from ps+, and I don't consider those owned. As soon as I don't renew, those games are inaccessible.

"it’s a story that I’m sure won’t go away any time soon"
It might if you'd let it

danno_omen48d ago

We don’t control who suddenly decides to bring it up in interviews lol

lukasmain48d ago

It's pure speculation on behalf of the author of this opinion piece and it hold no weight at all.

InUrFoxHole47d ago

@lukasmain
Im curious how you can make that comment when he specifically mentions Blackmyth? No weight at all? Either...
A. You can't read
B. You're letting blind loyalty take point
C. You just didn't read it
D. You're trolling

pwnmaster300048d ago

There really wasn’t no suggestion.
Just pure speculation as usual.

Lightning7747d ago

It's in the interview. He said it.

lukasmain47d ago

He never suggested a special exclusivity deal. Far from it. The author is just speculating.

Lightning7747d ago (Edited 47d ago )

@Main I quoted Rosenberg at the bottom he said it himself on the interview that him and guys go out and find hidden gems. This interview wouldn't mean much but Black Myth was supposed to release simultaneously along with the Xbox version unfortunately, it didn't. Got taken off and GS said it was the S. MS said there was a deal in place. If he's going out and finding niche or "hidden gems" BMW should of released only on PS5 since its considered a hidden gem that could only be played on PS console just like the rest of the other games he mentioned. The game was announced awhile ago as a multiplat. The S of late has been holding its own with third party and 1st party games. It's also clear that the S did have issues for awhile also and maybe GS really can't optimize for the console. I'm just exploring every possibility.

Hmm, I dunno at the end of the day. The S has been performing well optimization wise lately. I dunno it's hard to tell anymore what's, what.

-Foxtrot48d ago (Edited 48d ago )

There is no way in high hell Sony would pay money for this, something so successful and not advertise it as an exclusive console game. There's just no way, they've done it for everything else, why would they not do it for this.

It's people who can't let a story go, there's no deal, they just probably supported a new Chinese studio with their China Hero Project and give them tools to help develop on their console. If Microsoft came along and offered them the same tools early on for their console I'm sure Sony wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Sony took a chance on a new studio early on and they benefitted from it, that's their reward.

Beautiful game, love the series, and the character!

Well crafter and well done.

Toecutter0072d ago

Good. The game is unique, heartfelt, and beautiful. Yes, the mechanics are rather simplistic. But the teams dedication to storytelling is on full display. It's definitely not for everyone, but it won't disappoint those who appreciate video games that push the boundaries of the medium.

Alos8872d ago

More like pushes the boundary of how short a game can be while still charging fifty quid

InUrFoxHole72d ago

Love the game. Beautiful looking, game play was solid and it didn't over stay it's welcome.

PrinceOfAnger72d ago

Good game with the best graphics and animation I've seen this gen. They need to focus more on the gameplay though if there is HB3.
