Guys, many of you have known me in the N4G community for a long time, but I'm just a small time artist & I was personally involved in this project as a background artist since March. This is hands down the most fun I've ever had working on a project! I'm just a small, small drop in a huge bucket though.

Please help get the word out, so we can bring this to console. The game is a blast! Seriously, a great Metroidvania from start to finish. The reviews have been great so far on Early Access which launched in April. Go check it out. :)

Yes! Bring this to consoles, it looks amazing! Does it feature multiplayer coop ?

OtterX284d ago

Thanks! Yea, at this time it's just a single player Metroidvania adventure w a number of guns and abilities to unlock. Lots of hidden items to gather. Like any game, we have our speedrunners, but the average person seems to complete it in 15-20 hours. Much more if you want to collect and scan everything. (I have about 60 hours bc I'm obessive about collecting every little thing.) There's also a lot planned down the road, including new body regions and the ability to refight bosses. They've already added a speedrunning timer for those who want it. :)

This game looks really cool!

Would you be interested in an interview? I host an indie game podcast and I'd love to chat. :)

Hey, I was just a finish line addition to the team, but I can get you in contact with John and Ivan the primary creators! :)

I'll PM you a little later today. Sounds awesome!

Good list, and kudos to having a list-article where everything is listed on 1 page.

Nine Sols looks nice, and also a bit similar in style to Bo, Path of the Teal Lotus, which should also be a good game (picked it up a few weeks ago but haven't played it myself yet ... )

It's Hollow Knight with guns. Looks like a cool game, but I'm not sure about forgetting Hollow Knight.

OtterX267d ago

Yea, "for now" bc Silksong is late 2024 at the earliest, 2025 most likely. There's definitely room for both, but doesn't mean it should (or could) be completely forgotten. :)

gleepot267d ago

Not even. It's way more akin to Metroid (you know, the game EVERY metroidvania is derived from). And it's much better because of it.
The only thing this shares with HK is the fact that it's hand drawn. Other than that it's better in every way.

OtterX267d ago (Edited 267d ago )

Ha yea, the head dev John put this meme together (below) but it describes it perfectly. XD

Hollow Knight is so up-close melee based so a Metroid/Mega Man mashup is much more accurate for BioGun. It just has hand drawn art assets w a lot of parallax that gives it a Hollow Knight-ish look, but only superficially.

So, Hollow Knight with guns, then?

OtterX266d ago

@anast I mean, you could just call Mega Man "Mario with Guns" if you really wanted to.

BioGun was genuinely a surprise of 2024.

I like these types of games but the art style is bleh

OtterX266d ago

Funny, bc the art style has been praised by most reviewers and sites as one of the game's highlights. But art is subjective, you're free to dislike it. Everybody has different tastes. :)
