Good, Sony and Hulst are gonna learn the hard way it seems, i cant understand why this and Fairgame$ were greenlit, their studios brought thinking it was a good idea while shutting down the ever reliable and much loved Pixel.

You think Sony would look at their own YouTube channel and see this and Fairgame$ have a massive dislike ratio while Astrobot has a phenominal 99% like ratio with everyone loving it and see what PS nation want and dont want, i really hope Sony pull themselves together, more SP games and less woke nonsense they love ramming down our throats every second.

-Foxtrot330d ago

I just hope to God Astrobot is supported and gains massive sales for them.

It's not just to show Sony what we think of their new direction but also platformers in general. I'd like to see more AAA platformers outside of Nintendo whether it's brand new ones or sequels to old ones. It might help push more developers to invest in them.

GaboonViper330d ago

Yep, i would kill for a new Jak, Sly and a return to PS1 platformer heaven.

_SilverHawk_330d ago

i cant wait for the comments from people who hate this game thats never played it and or people who thinks its rubbish from just watching a short trailer.

i think concord is amazing and i cant wait for the full game to play

The_Hooligan330d ago

Already pre-ordered Astrobot to show my support.

Rimeskeem330d ago

I know I'm gonna be buying Astrobot. I agree, platformers are so fun and are a unique challenge. Just look at todays big steam games that aren't PvP or Survival like Chained Together, Only Up, A Difficult Game About Climbing, etc.

Lightning77330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Team Asobi are literally the only devs that can properly and suited to make a new Dax and Sly game at this point. I agree Astro needs to be supported if we wanna see those legacy platforms returning in which I think it will.

Petebloodyonion330d ago

Concerns about Astrobot may be unfounded, as the media, previously indifferent to Astrobot, will likely promote the game as a pinnacle of the gaming renaissance and a strong contender (sorry I mean winner) for Game of the Year. This is because 2024 is an era that celebrates fun over AAA cinematic storytelling.

Aside from my rant, I do wish Astro Bot the best. I have been a huge fan of the VR version,( which never won anything major), and loved the PS5 version. (Play the GPU song now!!!!!

Profchaos330d ago

I'm pretty confident that astrobot will be a success if not I've officially lost all faith in gaming

Good-Smurf330d ago

I already did my part by pre ordered Astro Bot.
Ratchet's being the only kid in the block for too long it's time to introduce new and his old friends into the platform.

Silver hawk,

I'd say it's probably alot of us that hate on the game that never played it or are interested. I hate on the game because I hate the direction of it and I hope Sony sees it's players are much more interested on single player not online experiences that Sony is known for. Stop wasting so many resources on this type of stuff

Everyone is saying if it supported the free 2 play model it would probably stand a chance.

I suspect it'll go free 2 play the first few months after release.

Most of us suspected last year that they're gonna have some duds as well as success. Like Hell Divers 2 being a hit while Concord could be their miss step.

It's gonna be hit or miss.

Charlieboy333330d ago

@ Viper I can kind of understand. Have you forgotten for how long and how often Sony were told "Playstation has no multiplayer games. Playstation only does one and done movie games" ? I remember hearing that A LOT. So now Sony provides an actual fully fledged multiplayer game.....only their second one since Helldivers II.......so they probably expected some success with all the talk of how Playstation has been lacking this very kind of game for like over a decade now. Personally, I am glad that this is flopping because I prefer their single player experiences and would prefer they focus on them. But I can't say "I don't understand why" they are releasing games like Concord and Fairgames.

shinoff2183329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

That wasn't ps players saying that all like that. That's pc and Xbox players talking all that for the most part.

Only their 2nd one in a row with no single player games in sight aside from astrobot(which is a buy) so yea we don't want the sht.

lucian229329d ago

A new proper little big planet would be amazing. I loved part 3 honestly, even if part 2 was the best

“ Concord Beta Early Access (July 12 – 14) and Open Beta (July 18 – 21)”

This website says 50 players on the 17th July

No shit Sherlock
Probably the developers play testing,
cos it’s closed to public on the 17th

Can anyone confirm this is correct or wrong ? This is my guess from info provided

rippermcrip329d ago

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. Everything I am reading says those are the dates. The betas were only open on the weekend.

Article shows no proof of what the player counts were on July 12th.

mkis007329d ago

Awfully a lot of down votes for factual information. Not a fan, but facts are facts.

Jin_Sakai330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Good, Let GaaS burn. Can't wait for Astro Bot!

InUrFoxHole330d ago

Pass on asstro. Rather have concord

coolbeans330d ago

But... Helldivers II is technically GaaS and that deserves continued support.

Jin_Sakai329d ago

Helldivers 2 was a rare gem. Most GaaS are garbage.

LG_Fox_Brazil330d ago

It truly didn't get my attention, I played a few matches and decided to delete it, I can't help but feel that they should've made this game into a 'Pay Day in space co-op game', though, it has some interesting characters with that vibe

Leeroyw329d ago (Edited 329d ago )

Same. The TTK took forever and it just felt mid. Loading in screens showing landings for every match was painful. I tried it so I could comment. Hard pass. Not worth fifty bucks and then all the mtx nonsense in a packed market of hero shooters.

Elda330d ago

Good. Sony making games that most PS5 owners really have no interest in. Why not a Bloodborne remaster a Resistance trilogy remaster & Killzone 2 & 3 remaster with the multiplayer attached. I would think folks would want to play those games mutiplayer instead including the campaigns with 4k/60fps & with some enhanced graphics. Nobody asked for Concord or a Until Dawn remaster. Sony needs to listen to its customers.

NoFanBoy329d ago

They are chasing the easy kids pocket money for skins fortnite BS. The game will be DOA.

There’s a Demand for Original Games (Just Not Live Service Slop)

The success of numerous original titles and the failure of several live service games demonstrate a strong demand for story-driven experiences.

Worlds most expensive coaster 🤣

badz14983d ago

what's so different between this and those useless NES cartridges or even supposedly "rare" pokemon cards? they are like NFT, just physical. Concord is an actual flop that has been pulled from stores, while Nintendo artificially limited their supply for artificial scarcity.

darthv7283d ago

ehh... I'll stick with the controller. I got enough coasters, they are called xbox games (snickers)

83d ago Replies(2)
Kurt Russell83d ago

Not the biggest coaster collection from xbox this gen :P

TheEroica83d ago (Edited 83d ago )

Concord is the biggest flop of all time... Sony could've saved 5 years by standing over the toilet and flushing 400 million. Remember, Concord is so bad that you cannot even play it anymore. It's vapor. You can't even have a retro review on it or pretend like "maybe there are a few people at home enjoying it". Lol, it was so so bad that it's been obliterated along with piles and piles of money.

The good news is all that failure leads to more pc ports of sonys better games. Sony is a good 3rd party publisher. I'll give them that!

Sony's Recent Live Service Game Cancellations Is Reportedly Tied To Failure Of Concord

Sony Interactive Entertainment's recent cancellation of live service game projects is tied to the failure of Concord, based on a new report.

Good. Let it be a lesson.

I’m super curious about how they are going to go about Fairgame$. It’s a live service title which didn’t get a good reception with the announcement and it’s being made by a brand new studio they decided to buy straight away because of the live service title they were making. It’s super similar to Concord and Firewalk Studios.

Will they cancel it this far into development or release it with the high chance of it being another disappointment and making Sony the laughing stock.

JEECE146d ago

It feels like that one is far enough along that they are going to go ahead and just push it out.

RaidenBlack146d ago (Edited 146d ago )

The Horizon live-service game is on the ... err horizon as well it seems, don't think that's getting cancelled.
Honestly if one modern Sony live-service game that I wish wasn't cancelled, that'd be the "Spider-Man: The Great Web". The leaked trailer looked cool and imho, it had potential. The timing was just not on its side.
With Avengers and Gotham Knights fumbling and Suicide Squad also not garnering much positivity at the time, Sony pulled the plug.
And 2 other I can also consider as well would be Factions 2.0 and Twisted Metal. Any form of a new Twisted Metal game is still fine for me than nothing.
Hope after all this, Marathin delivers. Oh, it better, especially after they changed such an amazing IP's genre.
I am really curious to see what they can pull-off.

PapaBop146d ago (Edited 146d ago )

Marathon is Sony's only real hope I think on the live service front, any live service game released before then will be going out to Freddie Mercury singing "another one bites the dust". They have to hope Bungie have some magic left in them and deliver a product worthy of the name. Live service games and Sony fans are like square pegs in a round hole. They need to really knock it out of the park to justify them and remove the negative stigma surrounding live service games.

CrimsonWing69146d ago

Didn’t they literally announce recently that they’re committed to GaaS?

isarai146d ago

I really don't know how seriously I would take that Herman has always just come off as a yes man. But I say I don't know because I really don't know it could be one way or the other

neutralgamer1992146d ago

Sony's decision to cancel two more live-service games, one from Bluepoint Games and another from Bend Studio—neither of which have significant experience in live-service development—has raised serious concerns among fans. Many of us had been eagerly awaiting announcements about these studios' projects, believing they were nearing completion after years of development.

Now, it appears several first-party studios are being forced to start over, highlighting what feels like a pattern of mismanagement this generation. Sony's strategy seems to be floundering, leaving its first-party portfolio with a string of missteps.

This situation is eerily reminiscent of the "arrogant Sony" era leading up to the PS3's troubled launch. Unfortunately, unlike that time, there’s no strong competition from Xbox to compel Sony to course-correct and refocus on what made them successful in the first place.

146d ago
FinalFantasyFanatic146d ago

Idk, I don't feel like they've learnt their lesson, in the case of Fairgame$, I suspect they'd release it if it's too far along to back out, at least try and make some money on it, if that's possible.

gold_drake146d ago

i still find it ridiculous that they had soo many, 12, in the pipeline. if they had like 3, sure, but 12 is a huge number for potential failure.

Alos88146d ago

They were throwing stuff against the wall and praying something stuck... considering how poorly thought out the whole thing was they should be grateful they even got one win with Helldivers.

PapaBop146d ago

How the hell would that even work? Were they going to create 12 completely different games to try and cater to different audiences? Or would they expect some gamers to be juggling multiple ones and on top of whatever third party ones get created? I really hope someone high up at Sony has pressed the big red panic button because they're starting to look MS levels of incompetent.

attilayavuzer146d ago

Honestly I think the strategy was to have one of them be a huge success (billions in revenue) and have that pay for all the other games and devs they'd shut down from the failures. One Fortnite-level success would double the brand's profit, so it makes sense why they'd take a flier on it, even if the odds were terrible and in practice has so far been about worst case scenario.

FinalFantasyFanatic146d ago

I think they expected multiple failures, they only needed a few to succeed to rake in the big bucks. But there are already a lot of these games out there to the point of saturation, and trying to pull people away from other, popular GaaS games was going to be a big challenge.

MetroidFREAK21146d ago (Edited 146d ago )

They need to wake up. A God of War live service game... what a joke

Relientk77146d ago

A God of War live service game doesn't even make sense no matter how you spin it. What a dumb idea.

bartfart146d ago

Yeah anyone remember gow: ascension multiplayer? Me neither

raWfodog146d ago

I’m a huge God of War fan and this had me scratching my head like ‘huh?’ Stop trying to add GaaS to every IP. It just doesn’t work that way.

Goodguy01146d ago

Focus on quality singleplayer like you had with the ps4 and 3 that made you so well loved. 3rd party will do all the live servicing.

RaidenBlack146d ago (Edited 146d ago )

You need some multiplayer titles as well ... not unlike olden days ... but just not so many of 'em that you lose the quality over quantity.
And plus, experimental smaller projects to keep things interesting.

146d ago
SonyStyled145d ago

They closed all of their ‘small’ game studios though for the GAAS focus. They shot themselves in the foot. PixelOpus, Japan, London (Psygnosis) closed
