A few of these games I would have to disagree with for starters:
[1] Soul Calibur - one, two and even three were good, but four felt so...I don't even know what word to describe it. I wouldn't say rehashed, because it had a nice design/look to it as well as character customization, but with the options given in three not available in 4. I felt a little disappointed. As well as the lack of a story or rather "Adventure" mode three has. But, you know I'm not TOO disappointed, I have the game still play it from time to time and overall enjoy it a bit.

Final Fantasy 7: Final Fantasy was pretty good from the start and steadily improved as time went along. I would have just put the entire Final Fantasy Series instead of just limiting it to seven. Even though seven did have some "meh" sequels it did have a pretty nice prequel (Crisis-Core)

Everything else I pretty much either agree with or have not played :).

Was Soul Calibur 2,3, and 4 on the list? I dont think I saw them.

PoisonousPoison5999d ago

Nope it was not, but since it said sequels and s/he/the author listed the first I simply put in some of the sequels. Stated which ones (I personally) thought were good for the series while the lone one (4) wasn't as good for the series (In my opinion). I don't know the list seemed a bit confusing, for the most part I thought the author was just listing things that had sequels so I put them in there (SC II,III, and IV.)

wasnt really as much of an improvement as Chaos theory, now that game was heaps better

Ex-Naughty Dog Dev Says Resident Evil 4 Inspired Uncharted and Many More Action Games

Former Naughty Dog dev says Resident Evil 4 inspired Unchartted and even Gears of War, particularly the over-the-shoulder camera view.

CrimsonWing6932d ago

It revolutionized third-person shooters, in a genius way that gives you full control of aiming.

CrimsonWing6931d ago

No, I mean RE4. Like the whole snap to over-shoulder and precision aiming was what I meant.

I won’t deny Winback does pave the way in some respect. But it’s not the same at all.

InUrFoxHole32d ago

Both are great series. That's awesome

Samonuske32d ago

I thought this was common knowledge. Resident Evil Revolutionised over the shoulder aiming in 3rd person shooters/action games

italiangamer32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

Influenced basically every third person action game made after it, GTA uses the over the shoulder perspective when shooting since the 4th installment, Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2 too and the Batman Arkham series has the over the shoulder perspective as the main camera throughout the whole game series.
Obviously there are a ton more examples but you get the point 🗿.

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil40d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.
